I found the key that soop left.
I must complain that getting down to retrieve keys then getting up again is very tricky! Please leave them in a more accessible place in future.
Anyway here’s a bottle of Dom Perignon and a large iced bowl of caviar to open the kitchen!
( we’re going posh this time!

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Jun-21 18:05:54

Oh BladeAnnie may you return refreshed ?
muse weight off your shoulders with your son, he’s communicating, that’s important too.
Grandmabatty I’ll bet your toe is now discoloured and still sore, I alternated arnica gel with ibruprofen gel, it seemed to help. Yia sad to hear of your daughter’s distress, a lot of memories.
Susan it’s so very hard seeing someone you love fading, physically or mentally, your visit would have been much appreciated.
Pretty quiet here, a bit done up the allotment, MrJ in pub, I had one and came home to prep dinner. I have an outbreak of what I think is seborrheic dermatitis on my forehead and around eyes, itchy and sore, not for public viewing!
Have a lovely evening all, thoughts, as always, with those struggling x

Puzzler61 Sun 20-Jun-21 18:21:02

Arthritis is a buggeration Grandmabatty. Comes and goes but blooming painful. A friend has it in all her fingers and it has so disfigured them apart from the pain.
BladeAnnie it goes without saying we all grant you unlimited leave from the kitchen - with our love - while you rest and recuperate. ?
Come back soon as we’ll miss you and Duncan ?

Feelingmyage55 Sun 20-Jun-21 18:52:54

bladeannie. ?

Blossoming Sun 20-Jun-21 19:14:26

Yayia that’s heartbreaking. Glad you got some good news Muse. Bet you’re relieved the painting’s done to your satisfaction Soop. Sending hugs to all with pain and troubles, hope you all find some comfort.

It’s lovely to hear of people getting out and meeting up. Life looks much brighter today smile

muse Sun 20-Jun-21 19:46:24

I shall look out for you posting again BladeAnnie. Good to know that you have help at your side. Perhaps you might read the kitchen news occasionally. Take care

Successful day here. Dry weather meant mrM got the 1st tank in on level ground and with me on the rudder and him on the wheel we got the drainage pipe into the hole in the tank. I’ll be reporting on the water supply next. Thrilling isn’t it ?. I can see a few of you ???

G+T time.

Yiayia4 Sun 20-Jun-21 20:12:37

Thinking of you BladeAnnie ?
Feel your pain Grandmabatty?

muse Sun 20-Jun-21 20:32:13

Jax sorry to hear about the seborrheic dermatitis . What triggered yours. My son suffers with that and it really flared up when he had all the work problems. Hope it soon clears up.

brook2704 Sun 20-Jun-21 20:37:33

Sorry to hear of your troubles bladeannie but I hope things improve a bit soon
I hope your face gets better soon jax it sounds painful. My DD1 here has just got an allotment and is busy clearing the weeds and starting planting it up. It’s a big learning curve for them as they’ve never done anything like it before but they seem to be enjoying it
We’ve had a lovely day here today with DGSs - this morning the youngest had football practice and then this afternoon we had a lovely long walk in the woods buildings dens and collecting sticks. When we got back DD1 made chicken and rice and then we all settled down to watch a film on their big screen
Now the little ones are in bed and it’s time for a rest and feet up
Hoping everyone has a lovely evening, take care all

annodomini Sun 20-Jun-21 20:48:27

Quiet day here - still no rain, not much sun and my feet are cold so I may have to go back to wearing socks!
If you're reading this, Urmston, you did well to get out of the Manchester area before Nicola slapped a ban on travel between Manchester/Salford and Scotland. I hope she allows you to come back! I'm cross about it as I want to make plans to visit my sister in Dundee and I'd have to go through Manchester to get the main line train. Is she turning trains back at the border, I wonder!
Grandmafrench, please don't put the wrong stuff in your eyes. Hope the out of date prescription worked well. I once put a drop of cuticle cream in one eye and realised, before I put it in the other, that it wasn't my eye drops. No harm done as the drops flushed the cream out.
BA, sorry things are hard for you. Hope it will soon work out for you.
Muse, after all your anxiety, it's great that your son's career has taken a turn for the better - or best; and the news about your GD is good too. Swings and roundabouts!

Doodle Sun 20-Jun-21 20:54:46

BladeAnnie whatever your troubles are I hope they are resolved soon. I wish you and yours well and hope you are back posting with us soon ?
urms someone mentioned it might be your birthday. If it is, many happy returns ?. If not, send the cake back ?
muse good luck with the water supply. With all the rain we’ve had, do you need it?
TOYA ?

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Jun-21 20:56:37

JaxJacky that sounds very sore. ? Thank you for all your kind words regarding my thumb. It is very painful today so definitely a gel and some painkillers required.

cornergran Sun 20-Jun-21 21:15:26

Wishing you well bladeannie, although of course you’ll be missed you must take as much space as you need. It’s necessary for many of us from time to time.

I also have seborrheic dermatitis jax, Mine tends to settle on my cheeks. An outbreak is just clearing, we think the trigger this time was a mix of stress and mask wearing. Hope yours clears up soon. flowers.

That sounds better news muse, I’m pleased for you. Ouch grandmabattie, another arnica devotee here. Not an easy visit susan, hard to see someone deteriorate.

We enjoyed coffee and cake with our daughter in law and granddaughters this morning. Because of the family situation it can feel strained sometimes, not today, all very relaxed. Done little else, watched a couple of films and ate far too much roast beef and apple pie. It’s been more than chilly, I’ve been sitting with a throw over my legs. seems wrong in June.

Sleep well everyone.

Grandmafrench Sun 20-Jun-21 22:56:50

Hello The Kitchen

I posted earlier. Well, not quite true - I finished a post, my DH walked into the house with two mad dogs, I casually pressed a button and lost the post! Rather than get really cross, I went and had supper and vowed to start again.....

Well, What a Gay Day - as Larry Grayson used to say. It started with lots of heat, the sky then turned so dark that we had lamps on and the thunder seriously crashed and banged about until suddenly the torrential rains came. Enough to flatten anyone. I eventually persuaded mad cat Bella to come indoors. What she was planning on doing outside is anyone's guess but she stormed in, wearing a stylish (Brycreemed) middle parting and the wettest fur coat ever seen. A big hug in a towel soon solved that problem and she quickly forgot her annoyance and indignation in a bowl of delicious cat food.

When the rain is coming down in sheets and torrents - we have no guttering, that's not South of France roof style! - there's little to do except wait. After about 20 minutes the storm passed, the waters receded and we now have a pristine and dry terrace, having had a beautiful sunset.

I note your suggestion regarding a Pirate eyepatch, Grandmabatty. I will wear one for my eyes (much better today) if you promise to wear a big joke pair of foam slippers and some boxing gloves to protect that thumb. Old age is definitely not for sissies! And Arthritis is the end - I always thought that it would impinge on movement and create creaky or painful joints. I had no idea how seriously painful it could be. I am pleased to be going to a Specialist in a week or so. I am hoping that he will say that my intermittent ankle pain is Gout. Arthritis of course, but something that can respond to treatment. I woke this morning and was in such pain, I couldn't even focus on a cup of tea until I had applied an ice pack, a foot support, and taken an anti-inflammatory. How can a good night's sleep create such havoc?

I am sorry about your Dermatitis, Jax - Corner too. Skin problems are often a nightmare. At least you know what yours is called, but it doesn't help with treatment if, for example, it's due to stress or anxiety. Your Son's problem will probably lessen once he is settled doing a job that suits, Muse. You sound as if you've had a fun day with the tank. Still, you'll be able to take a 'holiday' with the DD and DGD very soon now, so you probably don't mind giving it your all for a further few days.

What a shame after such a fun and successful time recently you're now facing problems, BladeAnnie. Life! Do hope that between you and your DH you manage to sort it all out. But, if Puzzler and Duncan's assistance doesn't give you some early resolution, you must practice setting it on one side and not letting it get to you. Stay strong and stay positive. Life and stuff will unravel if you let it.

Love your (possible) Birthday wishes and cake organisation, Doodle. Don't leave Urms in any doubt : she can't hope to successfully sneak cake out of the Kitchen on the back of little white lies!

Anno, never fear, I am always careful with drugs and potions; and always look at what I'm doing. Not necessarily true with other things, but it's too easy to make mistakes if the proper checks aren't made. The wearing of spectacles often helps!

We have friends who kept some Superglue on the kitchen windowsill. Next to it one day they left their cat's new eye drops. You can easily guess what happened. It was all accompanied by shrieks of horror and I expect the cat joined in. They rushed him to the Vet and all was well, but sometimes that sort of arrangement is just an accident waiting to happen.

Find a smile, YiaYia. It's so hard to see someone you love so sad, but your DD has done something very brave, unselfish and kind for her horse. She put him first and that takes some doing.

You sound chirpy, Blossoming. Bet you're so relieved that this weekend has gone - and left good news. Have a good rest, Brook and Susan - recharge before another week gets off to a flying start.

Hope that painting is just what you wanted, soop.
Stay safe, nighty night and sweet dreams everyone.
x

Am off to the dentist in a minute?have had lots of support from the lovely ladies on the good morning thread.I am so scared it is actually ridiculous?

I have attached a couple of photos I hope of H and some wildlife encountered on their recent break???

annodomini Mon 21-Jun-21 11:11:54

Great photo, Susan, a small Henry and a big swan. I was always told not to go near a swan because it could break my arm. Turned out I could do that all by myself! I'm sure you will be back from the dentist's now with all your misgivings forgotten. Grandmafrance, when I was with my family on holiday in their caravan in Provence, every year we had at least one obligatory thunderstorm, usually at night. The GC had 'pup' tents outside and my GD, who was terrified, used to flee in and shelter in the van; GS invariably slept through the whole storm. And Granny? Well, I opened the curtains and enjoyed the light show.

Jaxjacky Mon 21-Jun-21 11:18:33

Good morning…I just wanted to say thank you for your concerns re the dermatitis, it’s itchy today, hopefully on its way out. I’m been using Cetraben but awaiting delivery of Daktarin (reminds me of a certain lion!). I’ve no idea what caused it, it’s only been for a few months, I used Nizoral shampoo on the pharmacy’s advice, v expensive, but recently a hypoallergenic shampoo, back to Nizoral now.
Susan I am living your fear with you, it might seem ridiculous and illogical, but very real. Hopefully a quick in and out, remember to breathe ?

muse Mon 21-Jun-21 11:37:55

How did it go Susan? All clear? ?. Lovely photos. What a gorgeous smile he has.

Grandmabatty Mon 21-Jun-21 11:56:35

Clarence, the cross eyed lion! Daktari. That brought back memories. JaxJacky. I love the photos of H Susan. I'm just back from the park where a certain boy ate half the bread meant for the ducks and kept running away. I'm knackered.

Susan56 Mon 21-Jun-21 13:51:17

Grandmabatty, I admire you taking the little one to the park!We do take the children but one of us has to run after H the entire time and as you say we return knackered.DD suggested we might like to take them to the beach the other day?maybe when H is a little older and more controlled!

Back from the dentist muse.He was able to repair the broken tooth. It is never as bad as I think it will be so why do I get in such a state?

TOYA

soop Mon 21-Jun-21 15:28:55

BladeAnnie Whenever you feel that the time is right to share your problem with us, or not, remember that we are here for you. We shall miss you here in the kitchen. We also look forward to your return.

I've taken photos of the finished painting. None of which really reflects the true colours. However, here are two for your eyes only. wink

Susan The photo of H is brilliant. One that I would enlarge and place for keeps in the family album.

Blossoming Mon 21-Jun-21 15:41:41

Glad your dentist appointment went OK Susan. Love the painting Soop, I’m sure your friend will be delighted with it.

Doodle Mon 21-Jun-21 16:23:04

soop another lovely portrait. You are so talented. I couldn’t even paint a matchstick dog. ?
susan glad you survived the dentist. Lovely photos of Henry.
jaxJacky hope the lion cream helps your dermatitis to heal. ?
grandmafrench sorry you are in such pain. Do you think it could be gout……too much ?? Hope whatever the cause is you get some relief from the pain soon.
Any news of your brother kitty?
Take care all ?

Grandmabatty Mon 21-Jun-21 16:59:20

That is such a lovely portrait Soop.I wish I had your skills. Susan they are just bundles of energy at this age, aren't they? I love him to bits but a quiet time drawing would be lovely! Chicken enchiladas for tea and then craft class, if I can stay awake!

Yiayia4 Mon 21-Jun-21 17:09:02

Great photo Susan what a cutie.Thank you all for your concern of my D.I.L, she is getting a lot of support from family and friends and will slowly come to terms just take a time.
A wet and windy day in Cornwall but still nice to be here.We are having wood fired pizza tonight from a van on site.Have a good evening all.

soop Mon 21-Jun-21 17:18:26

A cloudless sky and a skittish breeze to keep the dastardly midges at bay.

I've been trying to do a bit of catch up around the house. Confess to be feeling extraordinarily lethargic. Drop bot has been an ongoing wotsit ever since I got out of bed. Just one of those days. We all experience something akin from time to time.

A little ironing to finish. I shall then have a brew and put my feet up.

My thoughts are with you all. I shall do my best to return tomorrow with a spring in my step. Continue to take care of yourselves...because you are precious.
