Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lueneburg. Have a good Bank Holiday all - we had Whitsun Bank Holiday last weekend. Your are luckier - warm weather. Yesterday my DIL, her partner (my son died) and my granddaughter came for lunch. We had a lovely day, but in the evening I was pleased to be able to put my feet up. This afternoon I am meeting 3 friends. So thinks are looking up Still, I will be even more happy when I can travel to Britain to see my new home.
I have only seen the pictures of it.Later, before lunch, I am taking the dog into the forest. The wild boars have been spotted there so I shall stay on the paths.
Wishing all of you to feel better from now on. Enjoy your time. x

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny northwest Lancashire coast. Friend arriving later then off to a barbecue so glad the weathers ok. Frankly don’t feel like socialising as have been such a hermit for so long. I think I will have to put on an act! The wonky knee is calming down but it’s surprising how one thing like that takes it out of you.
I’m going to dress up a bit in a new olive green jumpsuit.
Watched Miriam Margoyles one woman show on tv. My she is such a talented woman, a show like that is the hardest to bring off.
Thoughts to the worried and I hope you have a nice bank holiday Sunday.

Good morning all from a misty Polmont where it is already 13°. I think the haar will burn off and it will be a lovely day. Here's hoping. It sounds like many of you have nice plans ahead for the day. Urmstongran enjoy the day at Lytham with your family.
Yesterday was pleasant. I caught up with ds and we went for coffee and sat outside in the sun. The rest of the day was housework and washings etc but it was such a nice day that it didn't seem onerous.
Today I might go to my local garden centre. I have a birthday card to deliver and I should clean the windows before the sun breaks through. Chicken and ham salad for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a cloudy but will be sunny North Hampshire. Thank you for the special hello Alygran, it means a lot to folk on their own.

Nothing much planned, sweeping the patio and general titivating in the garden and then a sit down with cross stitch.

Wishing everyone with plans a lovely day and hope you don’t get caught up in traffic jams.

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny (at last) South Lanarkshire.

Tidied the garden yesterday but it was a little too cloudy for me to sit out just a s well really as there was a hen party in a garden around the corner and boy was it noisy. They partied from mid afternoon and were still going strong when I went to bed. I suspect there will be a few thumping heads today to match yesterday’s thumping music.

Going to DD’s today, so looking forward to sitting in their garden in the sunshine.

Hoping today brings a ? or two for everyone.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow.

Its lovely to hear of everyone's plans, enjoy!!! Today, I'm feeling extremely grumpy, in a low tolerance mood, and suspect it would be very wise to lie low day, before I fall out with Mr MD. He cannot do right for doing wrong!!! ?

My pain levels are through the roof , so I had the bright idea of using my TENS machine, until I found out it was now unsuitable due to my heart condition. ? Oh well, back to the heat bag and a hot bath!

My jaunt to the farmer's market yesterday wasn't perhaps the brightest of ideas! However, as my mantra is Carpe diem, I'm grasping every opportunity, just in case!
Weeks ago I had spotted a garden statue of what I thought was a little girl (Dollie) reading a book, but couldn't carry it. The the stallholder informed me yesterday, it was actually an Edwardian boy, but did produce a perfect replica of Dollie, complete with plaits! ?

Saturdays are sacrosanct for Mr MD, due to his academic studies of horse racing form, never under any circumstances will he deviate from this routine, which is embedded in tablets of stone!
However, I persuaded him to come and help me, on the understanding there would be no wandering and footering.
I had told DD we were going , so she suggested meeting for a coffee. Three hours later, after an unexpected lunch (with beer) with DD and SIL, a beautiful dish for the conservatory, bags of books and goodies, we returned home!
DH admitted it had been great to do something different. Me, I had to go to bed for a rest!!!
We had a lovely morning, but I'm paying the price today!

I have to share the gift I picked up for Dollie. ( I wish I had had a gran like me!!) She has the same love of pranks and jokes her uncle, DS2 has. Much to her delight, the Beano comic is delivered weekly to her letterbox, so this was so appropriate.

Yesterday, I think it was Nannagarra, who questioned Matt Hancock offering 400iu Vit D to people. I may be wrong, but I think it was to do with scientists initially believing lack of Vit D played a role in the fight against Covid.
I've been on 800iu daily for about thirty years because of my osteoporosis. Every year, at the clinic, it's discovered my levels are extremely low, so no surprise there. However presently, my levels of VitD and calcium are not registering at all in blood tests. Not good at all! If it hadn't been for me shielding, it would have been picked up much sooner. The hidden implications of Covid. ?

Anyway, the sun is shining and a pleasantly, gentle day awaits.
Special hugs to all my fellow mountaineers, for whom everyday is a struggle. Thank you for all your kind wishes. Elizabeth1, I have just spotted your email and will respond! I hope the sun is shining for you on the Fife Coast! I'm so envious. ?
Have the best day you can folks.
DH has just brought me breakfast in bed and the Sunday papers. Bliss!

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Grandmajean Sun 30-May-21 08:51:45

Morning all - sunny in Cheshire today and heat promised. We should have joined DS and family yesterday for a BBQ but DIL had a migraine so postponed until today. Think we have a much nicer day today so every cloud -- etc !
Hope this beautiful Sunday is as good as possible for all of you.

Sar53 Sun 30-May-21 08:54:16

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun is just breaking through. It didn't arrive til lunchtime yesterday but we had a lovely sunny afternoon. We walked to a local pub and sat in the garden, the first time since last year.
This morning DH is going to watch his grandsons at rugby not sure about this afternoon.
There are lots of family meet ups and visits on here. Have a lovely time everyone. Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend xx

Scentia Sun 30-May-21 08:55:21

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks a little grey but sunshine is promised.
I have some garden jobs to do today and I really should get some paint for the fences but I can’t be bothered to paint them so if I don’t buy the paint I have an excuse not to do the job!!
DH has a poorly chesty cough, (he has done a test just in case) as we are off to see friends this afternoon. I don’t want him to go out exercising with that chest but he seems adamant he is off put on his pushbike.
Thinking of Marydoll and hope she feels better after her emergency medicine.❤️
Have a lovely day folks.x

Grammaretto Sun 30-May-21 09:01:57

Good Morning all from sunny Scotland. The grass has grown 3 inches since yesterday so it isn't dry underfoot.
DS & DD and families are coming today. I expect they will want food. I am unused to feeding hordes.
I have made soup. Can't think what else.
Have a great day at the seaside urms and I hope you find something to wear.
I'm going to the Lake District tomorrow and don't possess summer clothes. It can't be as hot as France surely.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone as best you can.

Gingster Sun 30-May-21 09:04:17

Good morning all and as yet is a bit overcast. Sun later , we are promised.

Well done Mayd with your room rearranging. I used to always be changing rooms and furniture moving in our old house, but this one is set in its ways.. It’s fine as it is but I do so like a change.

Have a lovely seaside trip Urms don’t forget the bucket and spade .

Last week DS1 invited us to a bar b q today but I declined as I thought DD would be coming to us for lunch. She has other arrangements so we will just pop to DS’s for a cuppa later. To be fair, I hadn’t asked DD until Friday and she had already other plans. DS has his in-laws going and said to me ‘please come’ . But it isn’t fair at this late stage. A cuppa and cake will do us fine. ☕️?.

Our new mower arrived yesterday and Dh Wants to mend the old one to give to DD. ?. He’s not the handiest handy man, so I won’t hold my breath.

Our lawn literally takes 5 minutes to mow, .

My lovely girl got married on Friday. (I was her stand in mum after her own mum died when she was 6) .We couldn’t go but received photos. She looked stunning. The wedding had been cancelled three time (Covid) . She is now 5 months pregnant but still fitted into her beautiful dress , - bought 18 months ago.

Enjoy your day everyone and hope all poorly folk are feeling a bit better.

???

Morning Mick, Annie, and all

Not feeling great just recently, but had to pop in to say how much I do appreciate all your kind thoughts and mentions.

DD and SIL are popping by later and DS2 is arriving tomorrow, I hope he is not going to 'organise' me. Or try to, much as I love him, I haven't the energy.

Best wishes to one and all and enjoy the rest of the weekend

Stilllearning Sun 30-May-21 09:12:17

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire. A quiet day yesterday enlivened by a visit from DD4 (no longer local daughter after their move 12 miles away!) and SiL They had a great holiday in the Lake District, lots of cycling and walking and pretty good weather.

Quite a quiet day ahead but an invitation to join my ‘through the wall’ neighbours for dinner this evening. Going out to dinner, I can’t believe it! I shall make an effort and dress up a bit.
They have been incredibly kind to me all during this past year and now we are all double vaccinated, this will be quite a special occasion.

I hope everyone has a good day in the sunshine and can leave worries aside for a little.??

Lins1066 Sun 30-May-21 09:38:42

Good morning from a sunny S Welsh coast. Family have stayed over and are now eating bacon sandwiches, the kitchen looks like a tornado has hit it but do I care. Actually the human tornado is a five year old delight, "sit by me" she said, " and we'll play Dobble", which I discovered is a kind of snap recognition with Frozen characters.
Hope everyone will have something to cheer them today, for those who face challenges of any kind ? these are for you.

Liz2147 Sun 30-May-21 09:55:52

I went to school in Lytham, the geography room overlooked the beach. Desks by the window were very popular!!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 30-May-21 09:56:09

Morning Mick and all

I am in bed looking at a beautiful blue sky glowing with happiness from yesterday’s Princess Party for our GD. It was unbelievable wonderful to have our youngest three children and families all together, the cousins were delighted and played and played their little (and big) hearts out.

I will try and post some photos when I get my phone back from DS’s house

Wishing you all the best Sunday.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

EkwaNimitee Sun 30-May-21 10:05:11

Good morning, Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
Just planning a quiet day here, it might include tackling the pile of filing getting higher every day, or it might not! I'm prepping my new ovens so I could try a bit of baking, something I don't do too often these days. And I should really get out for a stroll in the open air.
I quite often find myself using the words ought, should, must to myself. It's not a good habit, I think? Probably why my brain generally rejects the ought should must actions and not much gets done.
Happy holidays everyone, hope the sun is shining everywhere.

Good Morning all from bright Harrogate - in preparation for sunshine I have managed to take one curtain down and put it in the wash with a load of cushion covers. The other curtain is as the moment unobtainable because of the crap DH has on the floor.
Today I am knackered partly after having DGS overnight Friday night and partly the medication I have to improve my breathing. DGS is such a joy but a little menace!! I found blobs of wet all over my coffee table - he'd sprayed it with carpet cleaner, but got cloth and wiped it all up!! He loved his bus trip yesterday. I found using a harness on him very helpful, but in M&S he managed to break free, but I gave him my phone with the story of the 3 little pigs and he was enthralled. We went straight back to the bus station after a cuppa, With harness replaced DGS was struggling to get past a disabled lady who who kept grumbling that I should keep him away from her - she was obviously disabled but had not seen my DGs has a disability and was pulling on the harness to get on the bus. To make matters worse, he grabbed her knee on the way off the bus to steady himself!! Oh dear!
When we got back he decided to 'feed' my Romba vacuum with bits of paper.
Glad to see you almost on form Marydoll. take care.
Sorry you are not so good Auntieflo
Lovely to hear your girl managed to finally tie the knot Gingster
Take care folks, enjoy the good weather.

EllanVannin Sun 30-May-21 11:05:37

Good Morning All x.
At last the sunshine has broken through as the last couple of days have been rubbish. In fact the cloud gathered so much yesterday I thought for sure that there was a storm on the way.

About 9 last night I could see the sky clearing to leave a lovely evening to end the day and later fell asleep with the lovely scent of the pine tree wafting through the open bedroom window. How good is that for the lungs ?

Cats are outside in the sun so I'll be able to hoover grin they don't like it you see. Half leg of lamb doing in the oven and I remembered to soak the peas last night so I'm all set for today's dinner later. I'll be spending time in the garden later with neighbours.

Ashcombe you're so kind, I hope the lady will be alright.
Cornergran I can sympathise with how you'd felt having had 3 weeks of that after my first AZ jab, it was awful, debilitating too. Avoid bending over. Hope you're okay today.

Shower now and give the bathroom a quick wipe round.
I've actually gathered up some washing to get done and out.

I hope all of you enjoy the day in some way to take advantage of this longed-for decent weather. Have a good day all but stay safe and take care xx

Hello everyone, I'm the previous Viridian, renamed for my favourite pink colour (when you add white). I've missed this thread a lot but I needed time out to deal with my Gransnet addiction ha ha.

It's a lovely sunny day here in south Cornwall. I could fill a book with news but I'll keep it to two things: 1. My second hip replacement is a week tomorrow, that's two in less than four months, good old NHS, and 2. Cornwall has the G7 summit descending on it dreckly and friends who live near the venues have to show two forms of identity to get in and out of their flat! Oh hang on, there's a third, for Marydoll. My fruit trees are flowering at last!!! Have the best day you can everyone.

mamaa Sun 30-May-21 11:49:21

Morning all, (just about)! I saw this picture of a flamingo lamp and thought of you all.
Hope the good weather is with you as it is here at the moment- sunshine does lift the spirit sometimes doesn’t it?
Urms when my mum lived in Blackpool she used to say she lived at the ‘posh end-close the Lytham St Anne’s’!
flowers for those feeling a bit down or poorly today too.
Gardening and reading today for me I think, but in no particular order!

muse Sun 30-May-21 11:49:26

Good morning Mick and all

Sun and blue sky in Cornwall. The breeze is blowing the tree tops but I can't feel it. Breakfast outside and awaiting my fresh coffee. I'd love to not hear the distant traffic on the A30. Many are on their way for the bank holiday break still. It does spoil the solitude.

Hammock is out ready with my book for when i've finished gardening . Determined to lie in it for an hour. Various plants to put out. I'm loving the raised beds.

Urms hope the traffic not too bad for you.?☀️

EkwaNimitee I too keep saying should must etc. I must cut more grass today ?It takes me up to 3 days to conquer it. The grass was quite damp though yesterday. I thought the day's sun would have dried it out but it was very long. We now keep bring wet grass in the cottage.

Marydoll Relax and enjoy that breakfast MrMD has brought you. The day out yesterday with lunch with DD sounds perfection. If these days out lift your spirits may you get plenty of them. A days rest after is necessary but surrounded by your books sounds perfection too. Hope you can relax.

stillearning. Dress up - definitely. I love any excuse to get out of my work togs.

Lots of you are meeting up for the first time in yonks. Have a wonderful day.

Wishing happy thoughts to one and all.? ? ??‍♀️

Marydoll Sun 30-May-21 11:54:06

Viridian, good to see you back! I take back everything I said, mine are growing too!
Please excuse the mess! Everything is piled up, as our garden is full of materials for the new decking!
