Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow.

Its lovely to hear of everyone's plans, enjoy!!! Today, I'm feeling extremely grumpy, in a low tolerance mood, and suspect it would be very wise to lie low day, before I fall out with Mr MD. He cannot do right for doing wrong!!! ?

My pain levels are through the roof , so I had the bright idea of using my TENS machine, until I found out it was now unsuitable due to my heart condition. ? Oh well, back to the heat bag and a hot bath!

My jaunt to the farmer's market yesterday wasn't perhaps the brightest of ideas! However, as my mantra is Carpe diem, I'm grasping every opportunity, just in case!
Weeks ago I had spotted a garden statue of what I thought was a little girl (Dollie) reading a book, but couldn't carry it. The the stallholder informed me yesterday, it was actually an Edwardian boy, but did produce a perfect replica of Dollie, complete with plaits! ?

Saturdays are sacrosanct for Mr MD, due to his academic studies of horse racing form, never under any circumstances will he deviate from this routine, which is embedded in tablets of stone!
However, I persuaded him to come and help me, on the understanding there would be no wandering and footering.
I had told DD we were going , so she suggested meeting for a coffee. Three hours later, after an unexpected lunch (with beer) with DD and SIL, a beautiful dish for the conservatory, bags of books and goodies, we returned home!
DH admitted it had been great to do something different. Me, I had to go to bed for a rest!!!
We had a lovely morning, but I'm paying the price today!

I have to share the gift I picked up for Dollie. ( I wish I had had a gran like me!!) She has the same love of pranks and jokes her uncle, DS2 has. Much to her delight, the Beano comic is delivered weekly to her letterbox, so this was so appropriate.

Yesterday, I think it was Nannagarra, who questioned Matt Hancock offering 400iu Vit D to people. I may be wrong, but I think it was to do with scientists initially believing lack of Vit D played a role in the fight against Covid.
I've been on 800iu daily for about thirty years because of my osteoporosis. Every year, at the clinic, it's discovered my levels are extremely low, so no surprise there. However presently, my levels of VitD and calcium are not registering at all in blood tests. Not good at all! If it hadn't been for me shielding, it would have been picked up much sooner. The hidden implications of Covid. ?

Anyway, the sun is shining and a pleasantly, gentle day awaits.
Special hugs to all my fellow mountaineers, for whom everyday is a struggle. Thank you for all your kind wishes. Elizabeth1, I have just spotted your email and will respond! I hope the sun is shining for you on the Fife Coast! I'm so envious. ?
Have the best day you can folks.
DH has just brought me breakfast in bed and the Sunday papers. Bliss!

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny (at last) South Lanarkshire.

Tidied the garden yesterday but it was a little too cloudy for me to sit out just a s well really as there was a hen party in a garden around the corner and boy was it noisy. They partied from mid afternoon and were still going strong when I went to bed. I suspect there will be a few thumping heads today to match yesterday’s thumping music.

Going to DD’s today, so looking forward to sitting in their garden in the sunshine.

Hoping today brings a ? or two for everyone.

Oldbutstilluseful Sun 30-May-21 08:44:50

Good morning from a cloudy but will be sunny North Hampshire. Thank you for the special hello Alygran, it means a lot to folk on their own.

Nothing much planned, sweeping the patio and general titivating in the garden and then a sit down with cross stitch.

Wishing everyone with plans a lovely day and hope you don’t get caught up in traffic jams.

Grandmabatty Sun 30-May-21 08:44:10

Good morning all from a misty Polmont where it is already 13°. I think the haar will burn off and it will be a lovely day. Here's hoping. It sounds like many of you have nice plans ahead for the day. Urmstongran enjoy the day at Lytham with your family.
Yesterday was pleasant. I caught up with ds and we went for coffee and sat outside in the sun. The rest of the day was housework and washings etc but it was such a nice day that it didn't seem onerous.
Today I might go to my local garden centre. I have a birthday card to deliver and I should clean the windows before the sun breaks through. Chicken and ham salad for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny northwest Lancashire coast. Friend arriving later then off to a barbecue so glad the weathers ok. Frankly don’t feel like socialising as have been such a hermit for so long. I think I will have to put on an act! The wonky knee is calming down but it’s surprising how one thing like that takes it out of you.
I’m going to dress up a bit in a new olive green jumpsuit.
Watched Miriam Margoyles one woman show on tv. My she is such a talented woman, a show like that is the hardest to bring off.
Thoughts to the worried and I hope you have a nice bank holiday Sunday.

amselerin Sun 30-May-21 08:42:04

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lueneburg. Have a good Bank Holiday all - we had Whitsun Bank Holiday last weekend. Your are luckier - warm weather. Yesterday my DIL, her partner (my son died) and my granddaughter came for lunch. We had a lovely day, but in the evening I was pleased to be able to put my feet up. This afternoon I am meeting 3 friends. So thinks are looking up Still, I will be even more happy when I can travel to Britain to see my new home.
I have only seen the pictures of it.Later, before lunch, I am taking the dog into the forest. The wild boars have been spotted there so I shall stay on the paths.
Wishing all of you to feel better from now on. Enjoy your time. x

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, but sun is promised later, as happened yesterday. It turned out bright, sunny and warm, so I was able to get the back grass cut, in between sessions of reading while waiting for the mower battery to charge. I now need to cut the front grass, so that is a job for tomorrow, as well as finish the weeding.

After all that exertion I was glad to come inside and watch rugby for a couple of hours, and was elated when my team won! It was the first match with spectators, and the atmosphere looked brilliant. I shall be there next Sunday to watch the last home game of the season, can't wait!

A lazy morning, then this afternoon I am invited to DS's for a barbecue, the first time I will have been there since Christmas 2019! So looking forward to seeing the DGDs and catching up on all their news. DD and her husband are away camping in North Devon.

Hope the ? shines for all of us today.

GrannySomerset Sun 30-May-21 08:27:44

Great to see DS and family yesterday though DH rather thrown by the unaccustomed vigour of it all. DD and family arrive later today and we are all together for lunch on Monday, after which I shall need to lie down in a darkened room. Won’t happen, though

Hope all those meeting family this weekend have a happy time and that the unwell and worried get some pleasure from the promised lovely weather.

B9exchange Sun 30-May-21 08:22:13

Good morning everyone from SW Herts. Really overcast here but hoping the sun will come and burn it off, we need to get the bedding plants in today.

Hope you are feeling better Cornergran, dizzy spells are horrible. Hope you get your friend home today Ash.

Today we will be able to go into the cafe after the service, sit down and have a chat, first time for many months. But still have to wear a mask in the vast, socially spaced cathedral, which I hate, and still banned from singing, though the odd subtle hum might creep out!

Alygran Sun 30-May-21 07:59:42

Good morning from the Peak District. It’s sunny here at DD2’s.
I drove down yesterday. It was busy but much less that the northbound side where there were queues for several miles in places.
A relaxing day in the garden then off to DD1’s for a bbq this evening.
A special hello this morning for those on their own today who aren’t able to meet up with family or friends. Bank holidays can be lonely.
Take care everyone and have a good day.

ginny Sun 30-May-21 07:43:55

Oh! now it’s back to a smile.?

ginny Sun 30-May-21 07:43:22

Think I better start using the word smile or flamingo instead of an emoji that for some unknown reason keeps changing to a grimace !

ginny Sun 30-May-21 07:41:00

Good morning everyone.
A bit dull at the moment but sunshine expected later in N. Bucks.
Some food preparation required today ready for family lunch tomorrow.
We have friends coming this afternoon for tea and chat.
Hope you all find a ?today.

Greyduster Sun 30-May-21 07:35:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s a misty grey start in South Yorkshire and an early one for us. DS came yesterday and we had a lovely catch up. He brought Christmas presents we weren’t able to have at Christmas for covid reasons. It felt odd opening them at Whitsuntide! Dinner in the garden. We are shepherding him to his course this morning as he doesn’t know his way round the city, and then we will go on from there and watch GS play football.
Have a good day folks.

Kim19 Sun 30-May-21 07:34:05

Morning all! Eerie but beautiful mist with promising sunshine greets me as I peep through the curtains here up north. Enjoy your day Urm. I'll have fleeting happy thoughts of you. Mayd, bravo on the rearrangement of your room. I'm sure the result is well worth the effort and wish you many years of reaping the benefits. I'm hoping to achieve some success in the garden if the soil has dried out a bit and is more workable. Whatever all of you get up to, I hope you get some sunshine into your lives, real or imagined. I'm certainly excited at the prospect.

NanKate Sun 30-May-21 07:28:05

Good morning Mick and All.

Warm day in prospect in South Bucks.

It is a joy to have our DS and 2 DGSs staying with us for the first time since last year. The house is a mess, food is being depleted, there is noise and laughter and chaos, but I am so grateful to be back together, not everyone is so lucky. They leave after lunch today and I will collapse with my feet up. ?

cornergran Sun 30-May-21 07:26:13

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright, sunny corner of Somerset.

Finished the garden makeover yesterday, rather Mr C did most of it as I felt what I can only describe as peculiar when I bent forward. Whatever it was passed and we’re both pleased with our easier to manage garden. We’re off to check out parking for Mr C’s hospital appointment next Sunday. I’m not sure why it was ever thought a good idea to site a hospital in a busy city centre and not provide accessible parking. After that a harbour side walk and lunch in the sun.

It’s good to read of people relaxing seeing family and friends again. Look after yourselves everyone. Especially those with health challenges to manage. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Beechnut Sun 30-May-21 07:20:34

Good Morning everyone from sunny Severnside.

Don’t forget your hat Urms.

That’s a good idea maydonoz. Sometimes I wish I had room for a permanent chair in the dining room which is on the back of the house.

I washed my summer handbag yesterday and on getting it out of the washing machine I found I hadn’t emptied all the pockets and my glasses, tin of mints and a pen all had a wash too.

I managed to get my all my masonry painting done yesterday. It’s supposed to have two coats so I might do the second today although I do ache a lot ?

Have a good day all and enjoy the sunshine and whatever you get up to ☀️??

harrigran Sun 30-May-21 07:19:32

Good morning from a sunny NE.
It was a pleasant day yesterday, plenty of sunshine so I washed all the doors and window frames. I then washed the glazed pots on the patio ready for the arrival of new plants.
I thought I would sleep soundly but I ended up reading my novel. I was surprised to see thick fog at 3am, must have rolled in with the tide.
Enjoy the better weather.

brook2704 Sun 30-May-21 07:19:10

Good morning everyone from our little cabin in the woods just outside Aviemore. Beautiful blue sky already and I can hear the birds singing. We had a lovely day walking yesterday but today we’re heading home so DH can do some shifting and moving of stuff in the garden that I’ve not been able to do.
Lots of fantastic days out, family meet ups and get togethers. It’s so much better than before but take care everyone when out and about if the roads are really busy
I hope you have a lovely time with the family in Lytham Urms I’m sure you will. Being on the sand might even remind you of being back in Malaga!
Hope your friend gets home today Ash
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gagagran Sun 30-May-21 07:14:04

Morning all from a sunny, bright south coast. 10.7c at present but set to get warmer. Lovely!

Had an interesting day yesterday with DH going out with his bike club again and meeting up en route with DS who was on his third training ride on the South Downs Way. They had coffee together, plus the rest of the bike club riders, who were very interested to hear of DS's epic ride, coming up at the end of June.

Meanwhile a letter arrived from the hospital from DH's surgeon advising that he will have a scan etc. in July to confirm the cancer has not returned. The third op he needs is with a different specialist and they are liaising on that.

DS turned up for a shower (and quite a lot of food) later and it was so good to have him here again and enjoy spending time together. He is coming here again for the final quarter of his route's training ride next Saturday. Meanwhile DD was volunteering at the vaccination clinic again.

I fell asleep in bed, sitting up reading my book. Woke with a stiff neck about 3am and only dozed after that so I suspect a nap might be in store later!

Hope the day is a good one for us all and that the sun shine on Lytham sands Urms. I have family there and have visited many times over the years. It's a very nice place. sunshine

Pittcity Sun 30-May-21 07:13:21

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. This will burn off as were promised another sunny day.
We spent yesterday afternoon in the garden of my youngest sis. My other sis and bil spent the night at a nearby hotel and are coming here for breakfast. I'd better shake a leg.
Roast lamb tonight.

A big Sunday hug for all x

kittylester Sun 30-May-21 07:09:26

Morning all from a misty but promising North Leicestershire.

Off early to watch DGS4 play football. The upside we will see DD3, her partner, DGD3 and Wondrous Wolfie. The down side is that DD3's ex will be there.

Enjoy your days everyone and wear sunscreen!

Jaxjacky Sun 30-May-21 07:07:50

Good morning all from a sunny S Hants. We never venture far on BH weekends because of traffic, shame for you Mick and GM. You’re very kind Ash hope she comes out today and Urms enjoy your seaside trip.
We had friends for curry yesterday afternoon, it had clouded over but we sat outside, four hours whizzed past, it was wonderful. Today we’re up the allotment, Mr J will assemble the brassica cage, stops the pesky cabbage whites and pigeons from munching, bit of watering then retreat home.
Enjoy your Sunday all. ??
