Good Morning Everyone,
Its a nice clear blue sky start here in Brackley this morning.
Usual day of household chores , before I get the bus to Bicester for an hour .
Returning to watch cycling coverage , which at the moment is also facing French open coverage .
Take Care,
Mick

I didn’t leave Rufus, I just took a little break during May, to see if I could. It was tough and I’m glad to be back.
I did join another forum when we all objected to a bit of unfairness, some time ago, they made me very welcome, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as this one because I feel as though I’ve made some very good friends here. I am thrilled though that common sense prevailed and Maw is back.

LauraNorder Welcome back! smile
What did you think of the Over50s Forum!
I see Maw beat you back! grin

LauraN, lovely to see you back!
I shall report on my Co-op bargains tomorrow, Litterpicker. ?

Nannytopsy Tue 01-Jun-21 13:01:31

I’m late again! What a busy thread today. Lovely to see Lauranorder back, sunshine and happy families in Leicestershire and Maw gearing up for a day out. It must be warm down your way GF! I should be gardening but it’s hot and my feet have swollen up. I am sitting with them up for a while before I find a shady spot which needs weeding.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Good morning, Mick and All from the sunny sunny north. A gentle breeze moderates the heat from the sun which is rather fierce.
I had a bit of an alarm yesterday evening on going out on my patio to collect my washing in. Alerted by loud buzzing, I turned to see a small swarm of bees investigating the roof over my kitchen bay window. They were honeybees probably with a new queen and hunting for a suitable residence. Not just above my patio, no! They keep the same nest year after year too. I had visions of having to have the little roof dismantled so they could be removed but fortunately after about half an hour, they moved on.
Currently catching up on some boring admin and planning my next move on expenditure on more necessities for the new pad. Moving house is definitely an expensive exercise.
Off to prep lunch and have a break reading my new book.
The best possible day to all.

LauraNorder Tue 01-Jun-21 11:39:59

Thanks for the lovely welcome back all of you.
Jax nothing like a sprinkle of chopped herbs on a boiled egg which is the level of my culinary skill.

Dwmxwg Tue 01-Jun-21 11:39:22

Welcome back LauraNorder a lovely thoughtful post from you.
I too am impressed with your artistic skills

Jaxjacky Tue 01-Jun-21 10:12:41

Welcome back LauraNorder love the painted shed, my artistry, a term I use loosely, is limited to the odd sprinkle of chopped herbs on a meal!

Nannagarra Tue 01-Jun-21 09:56:43

Greetings GraMingos from Sefton where it is so sunny I might well wear a dress. As I’m normally to be found in leggings and a Seasalt/White Stuff top my feet are tanned whilst my legs are white, the reverse of being a child in ankle socks.
What a difference the sunshine and meeting people makes. Today’s positive thread is so uplifting.
Ashcombe - that sounds like fun! It’s lovely to see the return of LauraNorder too.
A birthday to celebrate today so we’re all going out for lunch, apart from DGD who is on her hols with the other nanna and grandpa. DGS, 18 month old Mr Busy, will be with us so we’ll have a brilliant time and no doubt giggle at his mischief.
Sending smiles and sightings of flamingos to everyone, especially those who face troubles.

Morning from S Lanarkshire, more lovely sunshine but I have burnt arms and toes from yesterday so will cover up today.

Great afternoon with my my 3 amigos group because our very poorly one was so much better, it was absolutely like old times. She is still waiting for more scans but our fingers are more hopefully crossed now.

Hope your aches and bruises don’t last too long Grandmabatty, a fall like that gives you a real fright.

Lovely shed LauraNorder, nice to see you back.

Enjoy your interesting day*Ashcombe*! More prosaically I am looking forward to a ‘walk and talk’ with my daughter who has moved recently to lovely surroundings and properly coffee and cake!

Wishing everyone a good day??

Good Morning All x White Rabbits.

I could get used to this weather it makes such a difference to my well-being as I feel so much better in myself than the last 5 months.
Trip to Asda shortly and my 1/4 mile walk there which will be pleasant.

Another afternoon in the sun yesterday in the garden away from the madding crowds making their way to the beach. I believe it was packed. Not for me I'm afraid, then later on the sounds of police and ambulance sirens-----ooh, they can keep it grin I'm all for a quiet life.

My day has been made since watching my favourite person on the news, Colin Jackson ! He's such a lovely person with the best smile on television. I'm happy now grin My type blush

Lovely pics again bringing back great memories of times spent in Torbay Ashcombe, some really delightful places in that area along with the much photographed Brixham . Beautiful.

So pleased to hear that your weekend went well Dragonfly and that feeling of being appreciated is the best smile You had the weather to go with it too.

What a lovely peaceful spot by the lake cornergran that would suit me down to the ground just sitting looking at it.

Lovely to see you LauraNorder and love the shed too smile
I haven't seen Ruby-Lou of late but hope to see her at the weekend when her twin siblings turn 15. It was decided that the weekend of the birthdays was more important than a Bank Holiday weekend.
Hope the break has had the desired effect.

Let's hope that things settle for you Lins and that you're able to have at least one decent night's sleep.

Be careful while wearing that TENS machine in public Marydoll----that made me laugh grin You're a caution, as my mum would say.

My thoughts to those whose lives " could be better " as they struggle with illness or worries of sorts. flowers Absent friends.
Take care and stay safe whatever you all get up to xx

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where I’m running late in the sunshine. Been on the phone after a lie in, with youngest daughter for over half an hour. Looked on here and almost 50 posts and it’s only just after 9am! This is such a busy thread (but lovely of course) these days. If I read all the posts it will be 10am and I’m going out. Minding the two grandchildren from noon as daughter is off to a colleague’s garden party for the afternoon (‘yay, it’s half term’ kind of reason) and son in law is back at work after the Bank Holiday.

Have a good day everyone!

brook2704 Tue 01-Jun-21 09:24:19

Great to see you back Laura and your post was just lovely
You’re a very talented lady, those flowers painted on the shed look amazing- well done you! ?

Good morning from gloriously sunny West Sussex.

We had a lovely weekend with DD and DGDs staying. We enjoyed ‘ordinary’, low key pleasures - the park with rides on the little train, ice-creams and the beach. The 2 year old laughed with delight about everything. The 6 year old was a loving and only slightly bossy big sister most of the time. Harmony and joy reigned. They went home yesterday afternoon. We collapsed ?

We are going to the cinema for a late afternoon screening of Minari, about a Korean-American family in rural Arkansas in the 1980s. The Korean actress who plays the grandmother has won an BAFTA and Oscar for her performance.

I am beginning to fear for our trip to Scotland to visit DD and family in two weeks time. The news on the spread of the new variant is not good.

Good to hear that most GMers have been enjoying the sunshine on outings or in gardens. Marydoll hope you find some bargains in the Co-op ?. Thoughts with those with illness or troubles ?

I just popped back in to see if you’d posted LauraNotder after spotting your name on the Royals thread. Good to see you back.

muse Tue 01-Jun-21 09:07:57

Good Morning Mick.

Sunny Cornwall. We're in for another day of heat then the temp is to drop with thunderstorms tomorrow.

Ash I'm sure the visitors will be suitable entertained. I'd love to be a smuggler. Wondering which is your favourite.

Thank you for my cupcake LN. Good to see you. Love the shed.

Have a lovely day out Marydoll.

Had a good night's sleep thanks to two pain killers. I was in so much knee pain before bed. Just done a short walk with Mya and it's now aching whilst sat down. Walking was no problem.
I'm close to calling the doctor but suspect I will just be prescribed co-codomal.

Take care all flowers

Good morning everyone, and happy White Rabbits Day from a bright and sunny ? Northampton. A lovely day for a health walk this afternoon. I might have to get my legs out and put shorts or cropped trousers on!

A quiet day at home yesterday; I cut both back and front grass, and also trimmed the shared front hedge. The rest of the day was spent reading, then watching tv and knitting after dinner.

Wishing all a lovely sunny day.

Grandmabatty Tue 01-Jun-21 09:04:17

Good to see you back LauraNorder I like the grey shed but there is the touch of the night about me!

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 01-Jun-21 09:00:37

Good morning everyone. A fabulous sunny day here in the Borders. Ddog and I have prepped the vegetables for tea and enjoyed breakfast in the garden. Focusing on my physio today. Yesterday I discovered I could walk on only one crutch but only if I went backwards which is a bit worrying. Nothing planned. Radio four on and WhatsApping the children ahead. I hope everyone on here has a good Tuesday.

hollysteers Tue 01-Jun-21 08:55:41

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast. It’s been more of a normal life recently, meeting up with friends etc. Feel better for it, if a tad worn out...and a sink full of dishes, the dishwasher being broken,
Lovely walks in sand dunes, taking my gammy knee with me and astonishing crowds at the seaside. Amusing to see the different shapes people parade in the summer when they strip off and lockdown had not helped. I’m doing my best, just had a banana this morning.
Having my Botox topped up today for the first time before lockdown, I’m starting to look angry (and hangry), the number 11s between my eyes back with a vengeance.
Hope you all have a good Tuesday and thoughts to anyone worried,

Good morning Mick, good morning Gramingos one and all from a bright and beautiful, slightly crowded, Isle of Anglesey.
I took a little break to pay more attention to my family and other friends, which I have done, BUT as time has gone on I have realised that you are important too.
I have found myself thinking of you all each day, names pop in to my head and I wonder how you are. I’ve wondered if the indomitable EV has managed to see RubyLou over the holiday, has our lovely cheerful Cherry been okay and got the works finished. Wondering how those brave gramingos Grandmajet, Auntyflo, Marydoll and so many others are faring. How is GrandmaSomerset doing, Harrigran, Susan, so many of you having a tough time. Then other names pop in to my head Ash, Brook, Alygran and all the beautiful photos and stories.
I’ve found myself quoting many of you or repeating your stories to friends over a coffee in my garden. Dwmxwg, gramdmattie, Urms and the trains, Amselerin and the big Mersey move, so many of you have made me realise that I don’t need to know your face or your voice to have become a friend and care about you.
Delighted to see the return of Maw and the most colourful mellowyellow to Viridian and now welcome back Alizarin.
The farmer next to us released his cows and sheep in to the fields and my thoughts immediately went to Sheepandcattle and what a kind farmer she is.
Our lovely sunny weather has us all outdoors and spirits lifted but it doesn’t mean we don’t still need the sunny snippets from DustyAngel and Grandmafrench to bring us a smile.
I’m glad to be back amongst you, if I haven’t mentioned you it doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about you, I have and I do appreciate you all.
Okay that’s enough soppy stuff from me now.
Orlin and I have been busy gardening, covering all trace of builders who’ve been here for almost a year, just the garage to finish. Apparently the suppliers sent the wrong door so the swallows are gratefully swooping in and out and setting up home in the rafters.
I went berserk with a tin of grey paint, it looked fab on the gates and fences but turned the shed in to Dracula’s store, very spooky and gloomy looking so I had to paint on some flowers while we wait for real ones to grow up the side.
Wishing all my lovely friends on here a wonderful day full of random flamingos large or small ?
cupcake for muse and any others who don’t see the icons.

Good Morning everyone from a very warm S of France - hazy today but by the time we return from shopping, hoping for clear blue skies.

Cross to receive a mail - easily predicted - from the massive online garden centre from where we ordered two gorgeous Clematis. 3 week delay possible, they told us at the time. This now changed to early September. ? Covid/unusually cold weather/ growth not sufficient/great demand - you name it, all the jolly excuses there. So, money to be refunded and I shall get a kind friend in Normandy to cast an eye over her fairly local and English run nursery, then post a couple to me. Normally I’d have ordered from the UK by this stage - sadly no longer possible ? so we shall just keep calm and carry on…

Tomato feed and some trellis supports to be bought today, a Town Hall visit, some coffee out (Yay! we’re so cheap to run), jolly Pharmacie visit to pick up supplies, some wonderful cheese from the market, make a Vet appointment, do some ironing, (well the last one may not quite scrape through onto my To Do list. It often hangs around on my Try to Avoid list for quite a while, I find. Very odd!)

Wishing you all a busy happy day, whether pottering or working far too hard, outing and abouting or just sitting in the garden watching the birds. Take care whatever you choose.

Get well poorly people and feel stronger all those who are sad or troubled.

Hugs
?‍♀️????????????

Good morning. A sunny start here in N. Bucks.
Good to hear that many of you had meetings and outings yesterday and thoughts with those who were under par or sad.
We had a lively day with all the family. Games, fun, food and sunshine.
Looking after DD3s dog today while they have an outing to Warwick Castle with the DGS.
Otherwise a quiet day , maybe a bit of pottering in the garden and a good book to read in the shade.
Hope you all find a smile in your day.
