I guess no one saw the recent collapse, and shattering, of China's, Piyan Mountain glass bridge, that had a 100 metre drop. People were walking across the bridge, when it the wind caused the whole thing to shatter and collapse.

The driving a car thing isn't quite the same. Although a random crash can come from nowhere, for the most part one has some form of control. In a floating swimming pool (as on the 100metre glass bridge) there is no control at all!
