Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. It feels much cooler, let’s hope the sun breaks through the rather hazy cloud.

Beautiful quilt gM you are so talented and how lovely to hear that Iris is doing well. Could you look online to get an idea of what type of sofa you would like and share ideas with your DH?

Gorgeous lilac BlueSapphire, mine is still tightly closed.

I had a wardrobe cull of summer clothes which I definitely won’t wear again. Some are destined for the charity shop but I’m going to try to sell a few things on eBay, probably a lot of work don’t much return but I’ll give it a go.

Doggy Day Care messaged yesterday to say they are closing immediately for two weeks as they had a case of kennel cough which means taking the pooch to DD’s tomorrow before driving to DS’s to do our childminding stint. It will add 45 minutes to the journey but thankfully the DGDs are now in nursery on Thursday mornings so no more really early starts.

Going out for lunch to a cafe/farm shop near me with my friend from the other end of S Lanarkshire, she doesn’t mind the drive so will pick me up.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day, special thoughts to those coping with sadness or illness. thanks?

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a breezy South Yorkshire but the sun is shining once again. We had a very busy day in the garden yesterday; cut the long hedge, and planted up every inch of space we had but I still have plants I have raised left over so I’m going to either have to buy some more pots or find someone to take them off my hands.
Domestics here today, and maybe a short walk if we can fit it in. Have a good day one and all!

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Jun-21 08:12:38

Good morning all. Grey skies in Polmont but hopefully it'll burn off. Yesterday was so warm and lovely. I came back from the fish man with toys! A lovely neighbour gave dgs two ride on toys and a big truck. The boy loves anything that moves so he was delighted. We had a quick trip to the park and he played in the garden most of the day. Grandmattie another gorgeous quilt! You are very creative. It's good to hear that Iris is improving.
Today I feel better after Monday's accident. I'll visit mum and then catch up with a couple of friends at a garden centre for coffee. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy but still warm S Welsh coast. Glorious day yesterday, hot from early on, the beach car park was full from 11am. We walked down to the sea with the puppy, sat on a bench and he sat under it in the shade. The tide was in and we watched the surfers and bodyboarders, a five minute stroll up the hill and we were back in the peace of the garden and the pup on his cool mat.
An engineer came to look at the boiler yesterday afternoon as our shower keeps going cold, he said it had been fitted with the wrong heat exchanger.
Thank you for your kind concern yesterday EV you are a pal, to me and to so many of us on here.
I hope Cherry is alright over the Bay.
Have a pleasant day everyone, one of ours is going camping on the Gower today for a few days, hope those thunderstorms stay away.

Alygran Wed 02-Jun-21 08:29:23

Good morning from the Peaks. Another glorious day here. Driving home this morning.
I was a happy shopper yesterday, two dresses, four pairs of trousers and three tops! A new summer wardrobe.
Haven’t had chance to read but will catch up later.
Have a good day everyone

Gingster Wed 02-Jun-21 08:29:29

Good morning all and such lovely , happy posts this morning.
It certainly is a bright start to the day. I actually look forward to getting up and reading.

We are now at our cottage by the sea and it’s so good to be back in this glorious weather. The garden was a wilderness when we arrived but we soon got going. DH on his trusty sit upon mower and me with my secateurs and shears. I’ve taken all the spring bulbs out of pots (do I really need to do that) ? The pansies still looking bright and colourful (put in last October). We will go to our fairly local nurseries and get some bedding plants to fill in gaps. Still lots more to do but gradually . My back is aching so I’ll take it easy today.

Sadly we missed the bluebells and the flowering gorse bushes on the beach. Spectacular this year.
I caught up with my lovely neighbour and she filled me in with all the local news.

Ash - your day sounds such fun. I can imagine you really getting into the’ spirit’ of the characters. There was a lot of smuggling going on here and we have old photos of horse and carts on the beach awaiting the boats coming in full of booty. I think you might be in for thunderstorms today Ash , so this will add to the atmosphere too.⛈?.

GM beautiful quilt. ?

Lucky Gagagran and bluesaphire with your PB wins. It’s has reminded me that we now don’t get notified by post. Can someone tell me how to check if we have won, please ?

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day , and that all who are poorly have some relief. ???

harrigran Wed 02-Jun-21 08:31:03

Good morning from a sunny NE.
DH disturbed me at 3am and I couldn't get back to sleep so went off with my book, it was very foggy.
Grocery delivery this morning.
Yesterday I got all the washing dried outside and got everything ironed too. I erected the board in the bedroom so I could talk to DH while I was busy.
Had a chat with a neighbour yesterday, she tells me she will be going to the outer Hebrides in the summer again, last year she was badly bitten by a dog whilst there. She made some enquiries and found the dog had done it many times and when it attacked a 90 year old it was eventually pts.
Enjoy this lovely weather.

Elizabeth1 Wed 02-Jun-21 08:33:44

Good morning everyone from a slightly overcast sky on the east coast of Fife if yesterday’s anything to go by today will be a scorcher. I’ve a zoom this morning and our lovely cleaner comes to do her bit. She might even attempt the ironing. Brownie points all around.

My DH might go golfing today he’s got 4 hrs freedom away from the house to do with what he likes. Hope I’ve the inclination for perusing the fridge and freezer my ds is also out for a couple of hours the chiropodist and dog groomer comes to mind. Hurrah a quiet day to do with what I like for a change depending on the energy levels.

Hope everyone is looking forward to having a good day my photo today is of the lovely family who’ve been visiting us for many years and are now allowed back into the house.

EkwaNimitee Wed 02-Jun-21 08:36:57

Good Morning, Mick and everyone from a very warm and sunny Carlisle.
I am expecting the blinds fitter any moment, all the windows in the house are being done. I will be so glad for my bedroom window having one, it faces southeast and the sky is lightening at 3am and, in the last few days, the sun has been blazing in from sunrise. Consequently, I am a bit short of sleep and feeling a bit frayed round the edges. Not complaining about the sun though!
Have the best of days, everyone. Let's hope we soon hear better news from those who are poorly.

Grandmajean Wed 02-Jun-21 08:38:36

Good morning from warm and sunny Cheshire. Beautiful quilt
GrandMattie and what a fab pic BlueSaphire - so much talent among the Gransnetters. That is a great picture , too , Gelisajams
Proper get together with two good friends this afternoon. Not Zoom ! We will be caught in a real natter jam ! Looking forward to it.
Will read more posts later and enjoy your chat.

Marydoll Wed 02-Jun-21 08:41:08

Good morning all from a cloudy and muggy Glasgow.

No plans at all for today, apart from a couple of sewing jobs. A summer dress I bought in the M&S outlet, when it was closing down a few weeks ago, needs tweaked.

Gorgeous quilt, GM, you are such a talented lady! Kate, you did not need another jacket!!! ? Great to see Laura posting again and thinking of a few who are missing. I hope all is well with them.
Hoping Cherry has a settled night, Grandmajet is recovering and Susan that your worries are easing. I know life is extremely difficult for Auntieflo at the moment, so hugs for you too! ?

As usual I overdid it, yesterday! Paisley, like Ayr has gone downhill and there isn't much to do in the way of shopping. However, I had to kill time, while DH had his eye test. ( I still haven't a clue what his new glasses are like, I hope he doesn't look like John Lennon!)
A new gift shop had been opened on the hight Street, just before lockdown, so I spent an enjoyable half hour, browsing and chatting to the owner, who was at secondary school with me and married to DH's neighbour from childhood.
I know, I'm rambling, so I will get to the point! As I was chatting to the wife, she kept giving me puzzled looks and eventually said she didn't know who I was. What a rude woman!!!? Eventually, she confirmed she was not the wife, but the sister of the owner! With a mask on, she was almost the image of the owner's wife. ??
Anyway, the outcome was that I have made a new friend!!! ?

Promising that I would buy nothing, I ended up buying a book for Dollie. She has such a quirky sense of humour and I know she will love it!
Later on during dinner, we received a surprise video call from the bold lady herself. It just made our day complete! ?
In Ayr last week, I picked up a little guardian angel thing for a granddaughter and posted it to her, as she loves receiving letters through the post. This was her calling to thank us. She has been well dragged up!

Before lunch, I dragged DH kicking and screaming into the Co-op in the absence of my pack horse. Wait for it, we bought sets of outdoor Christmas lights, a large Santa, a musical Nativity globe and various crafts sets for Dollie and my friend's
wee granddaughter. Nearly £200 of goods for all of £42! Martin Lewis, eat your heart out!

Lunch was delicious and completed with a portion of tablet ice cream, even more delicious as the weather was so hot. DH had some strange concoction of ice cream, meringue and RHUBARB! ?
Speaking of tablet, it was my neighbours 65th birthday yesterday and I had planned to make a gift basket of Mars bar cake and tablet for him. However, as I had been feeling so grim over the last few days, I had procrastinated and had to make it when I came home. Not the best of ideas, when its very warm and you are shattered. Unsurprisingly it was a disaster. The digital thermometer fell into the pot, but with DH's assistance I fished it out and it still worked! Then, trying to clean it, I dropped it in a sink of water. It is now ĶAPUT!!?
Due to the heat and broken thermometer, the tablet was reluctant to set. Consequently, I added a spoon to the gift basket! ?

I think part of the problem was that I was distracted by a disappointing call from my GP about the Vit D deficiency and the fact that I will never know how effective the vaccine has been for me, as I'm immunosuppressed. NHS Scotland are not doing antibody screening, unless you have had Covid.
This was topped by a poster who accused me ( I'm sure it was me, she meant) on the Glasgow Covid thread of being a hypocrite, regarding Shielding. I didn't need that on top of everything else. ?

Well the sun has come out, so I had better get moving, before it gets too warm. The wheel has fallen off DH's state of the art golf trolley. He is determined to repair it, using my Dremel crafting drill. Aye right! I predict today will be a test of our marriage! ?
Have a good day, one and all!

MawBe Wed 02-Jun-21 08:43:49

Good morning all. A much better night than Monday night has restored me somewhat.
I had had such a bad night on Monday , not sleeping and worrying because Rosie had swallowed an ice lolly stick at the weekend - my dogs have always enjoyed Mini Milks and ALL bar present company would lick the stick clean then leave it. Not Rosie- who galloped out to the garden with it half finished and that was the last I saw of it. I tossed and turned ALL night contemplating blocked insides, perforated bowels, x rays, surgery , not fit to own a dog etc etc
Rang the vets at 5 to 8 and they were very reassuring, as the stick had curved ends and they though it should be fine - just to check peeing and pooing normally and ring if she seemed unwell.
Well happy to report that yesterday evening the stick was “passed” and she seems none the worse, no bleeding or straining (TMI I know!)
This dog is shortening my life- the £800 varifocals, a pair of unworn trainers, pinching the landline handset or TV remote - it’s like having a puppy !
Butter wouldn’t melt- or is she planning her next mischief? ?grin
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

cornergran Wed 02-Jun-21 08:44:39

Morning Mick, morning All. The sun is out over our corner of Somerset, it feels heavy so may get a storm

Washing machine sorted, needed re-programming. Mr C then found what he thinks is a problem with a socket in the kitchen, electrician is on holiday, it can wait until next week. Dentist for us today and a grocery delivery. Some cleaning if we can summon the energy.

Beautiful quilt grandMattie, I understand your sofa disappointment, better luck after your weekend away. Good to see you lauran, I think your post spoke for many. Sounds as if the museum was fun ashcombe, do you have the same roles each day?

Our climbing rose has been encouraged out by the sunshine. Makes me smile, hope you will too.

Take care everyone, hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Anniebach Wed 02-Jun-21 08:45:47

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Ellianne Wed 02-Jun-21 08:50:27

Good morning. The sun shone and shone yesterday in Devon. It is trying hard at the moment but not really succeeding yet.
It's lovely to watch everyone having fun by the sea.
Ambulance service here still in critical incident, I wouldn't be surprised if it is journey times holding them up on the busy roads.
Have a safe day!

Alizarin Wed 02-Jun-21 08:59:18

A quickie from a warm, damp south Cornwall, as I think I may have broken a finger so I'm off to minor injuries. Fortunately just a short bus ride away. Back later.

Pittcity Wed 02-Jun-21 09:00:20

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another lovely day.
I expect our Wednesday meetup will be outside. We have found a cafe with a balcony.
Just checked my premium bonds and have won £25. Thanks for the reminder.
Love and sunshine sunshine to all x

CherryCezzy Wed 02-Jun-21 09:03:46

Good morning to you all from Gower where it's warm but the sky looks confused.

I've missed so many goings on! Wonderful to hear so many of you had a fabulous BH seeing family and friends. Ash having enjoyed her trip away and being a poet who smuggles goodness knows what, dragonfly having a lovely weekend with her family, mellow yellow, aka Viridian, now Alizarin returning - welcome back ?, Alygran now able to enjoy her nice newly decorated home, and LauraNorder's spookily painted shed turned into a work of art by her own fair hand Lins' DH's 70th birthday and Susan's DH's birthday and camping party too (belated gifts ??). That doesn't half cover it either! I hope *Grammaretto is enjoying her trip to the lake district ?

I hope your SiL has recovered from his collapse last Thursday Susan, I hope your ankle is feeling better Dwmxwg and your wobbly knee isn't too wobbly today holly. Sorry to hear that your knee is causing you so much pain muse, I hope you had a better night last night. I hope that you are not feeling so sore today Grandmabatty, ? for you all.

My kitchen, and yes Grandmafrench wet room too, are finished - ker-ching! ?. Both have been duly christened too - the wet room in the sense you would expect and the kitchen ? ... with blood ?. The first thing we cooked was a chicken and I because I only have one brain cell decided to carve it with a new, very sharp, knife ? (I shouldn't really be using knives but will I listen and yield to my WP every time ... No). The knife, of course, slipped and I slit my thumb open ?. As expected my WP, who hates the sight of blood, panicked and I (calmly) went and dealt with it ?. Had to happen, didn't it ?. Kitchen duly christened!
Piles and piles and more piles of washing to do today! Dining room to put back together too.

LauraNorder your post yesterday was truly touching, I think Brook's idea last Friday - where it would be lovely to pick someone and swap locations so we can see and feel where everyone lives is a good one but I would love it if we could all do a "beam me up Scotty" and all meet up - maybe by the sea in the Mumbles ?

Thank you *Dwmxwg, Jax, holly, Grandmafrench, Ellan, Nannagarra, Lins, gillgran, Marydoll, LauraNorder and Susan for thinking of me and sending me well wishes, you are all so lovely xx
I hope you are feeling much improved today Marydoll and your DH didn't pick horrible glasses that were too retro yesterday ?

Thinking of grandmajet and Auntieflo ???

Hope today is a good day for you all, now I'll go and read all your doings today! Take care everyone ❤️

Shropshirelass Wed 02-Jun-21 09:06:08

Sunny here in Shropshire, I have planting out to do before I am too late also some veggie seeds to get in the ground now that it is warmer. Also hope to visit elderly relative who is in hospital.

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 02-Jun-21 09:07:33

Good morning everyone from a beautiful Scottish Borders. I hope the sun shines on all posters even if metaphorically. A friend coming for coffee today. This is the first time in about a year...A lovely person who will not mind if the drink isn't perfect etc but I am still worrying. It will be fabulous to have a chat with someone. Take care.x

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 09:12:05

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have beautiful sunshine again! Don’t all you gardeners start moaning about needing rain! Remember what happened last time one of you did a rain dance - was it you Gaga?
??

We are off to visit a recently bereaved friend over in Idle, Bradford. We are picking up my stepfather en route. She & her husband had the apartment next door to us in Malaga. She has MS and relies heavily on her sister and nephew now. So sad. We have a reservation at the pub/restaurant we all like. It will be poignant to raise a glass to such a lovely man, no longer with us. He was 82y and such a tall, good looking chap. His death was a shock to many.

On a lighter note, he made me laugh when he told me there is an Idle working man’s Club!
?

Maw your doggy tale (tail?) made me laugh! Sorry for your shredded nerves over Rosie’s antics. And Marydoll I do giggle at your novellas! The dropping of the thermometer into the pan then into the water was hysterical!

Gorgeous photos ladies of beautiful flowers against cobalt blue skies. Hurrah for June weather!

Oh, sorry to take up so much time here (wittering) but this text just pinged and made me laugh.

Apparently, to ratchet up excitement for tomorrow, my daughter said to lil miss (4y) “is it the zoo you wanted to visit?” (knowing she’d said that) .... “no, the farm.” Typical, when she’d got tickets ha!!

Enjoy Wednesday everyone. Stay cautious. x

LauraNorder Wed 02-Jun-21 09:13:55

A very good morning to you all from the sunny Isle of Anglesey. Where is Pantglas? I’m sending all this sunshine eastwards for her and not a word.
A sad and reflective day for you Mick, take care.
Good news that our little mascot is doing well and a very lovely quilt grandMattie.
I love the lilac Blue, will such a shrub grow in full shade do you think?
Glad that a get together with your Ruby-Lou is on the cards EV.
Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome yesterday and today. I’m looking forward to being part of a big fat warm welcome back for Grandmajet soon, I hope the op has gone well and you’re on the road to recovery.
Your posts are always lovely Ash you have such a good soul and a wonderful way with words.
Marydoll you are just amazing, I have a mental picture of you as a little round jolly ball in a pinball machine zinging from one place to another, disappearing down the hole and popping up only to zing about again.
Congratulations to premium bond winners, that’s your random flamingo taken care of today.
Having two friends over this afternoon for afternoon tea in the garden, Orlin is off to help youngest son Peckin, to put down a patio in his garden.
See you all tomorrow
