Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but cloudy here in Brackley this morning, with warm weather made sleeping uncomfortable .
Today , a busy day , shop this morning , have lunch then also will be drinking more water based fluid as I have a blood test mid afternoon .
Take Care,
Mick

merlotgran Fri 04-Jun-21 13:59:22

Thank you, Urmstongran Looking forward to a good 'garden' read....when it stops raining.

Auntieflo, you have my sympathies. I had a Baker's cyst about ten years ago and remember meeting up with friends at RHS Hyde Hall and walking round feeling like somebody was sneaking up behind me and tricking boiling water down the back of my leg. Hope it heals up soon.

dragonfly46 Fri 04-Jun-21 13:47:14

Your post cheered me Auntieflo - I am so pleased you are feeling better and your leg problem has been sorted out flowers

Auntieflo Fri 04-Jun-21 12:52:38

Good morning/ afternoon, Mick, Annie, and to all the lovely GN's who send me best wishes and remember me on this lovely thread.

I must admit to not being up to much recently and last week was the tin-lid on top of everything else.
But, today I am feeling better, physically and mentally, so thanks again one and all.
The problem with my leg seems to have been , not a clot/DVT, but a Bakers Cyst, behind my knee, which ruptured and leaked fluid down my calf. The extensive bruising was not a pretty sight. I think it is beginning to heal now, as it is not so painful.
I had a call from AGEUK this morning , she was a bit 'fluffy', but put me on to requesting a Perching stool, from the council. Duly done and I await an OT, to measure me up?
Earlier I received a big bouquet from our absent neighbours. Beautiful.
DG has gone shopping and I will have his lunch ready, soon.
A friend is coming to chat this afternoon, so, if I don't fall asleep, we will have a lovely time.

Sending thoughts to Harrigran, Merlot, Cherry and all who need a hug.
Have a good day one and all.

gillgran Fri 04-Jun-21 12:29:41

P.S. I love the great Friday advice, MawBe, I'll take it! Thanks.

Grandmabatty Fri 04-Jun-21 12:22:23

Thank you DustyAngel. My dignity is fully restored ?. I'm contemplating buying new, resin chairs instead.

gillgran Fri 04-Jun-21 12:15:43

Hello to you all from a warm, overcast, Cambs.,

I'm so late today, Mick, I hope your blood test goes OK.

Good to see you Merlot, I must have missed some of your news, I will PM you, if you don't mind.
I knew Urmstongran would respond to your book query, (my memory is like a sieve, an old one!)

Warm wishes to Auntieflo, Cherry & all in need of extra care. flowers

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Portugal. It’s a beautiful day here at the moment, a pleasant 20°C and no strong winds. I’m making the most of it as I’m sure it will get much hotter again later.

I’m sure there will be another page of chat before I finish this post but I opened up GN and straight away saw your beautiful dress Dwmxwg. How lovely to discover a “new” dress just when you need one and one with a secret meaning too. I have been meaning to say that I enjoyed your mention of the fields beside Runnymede the other day as well. We probably come from roughly the same neck of the woods as most of my life in England was spent living within shouting distance of the A30 from Ashford via Bagshot through to the Camberley and Hants border. My first job was in Egham.

LauraNorder, I enjoyed the introduction to your family the other day, and Grandmabatty I do hope that your dignity has fully recovered and you have no nasty bruises. My husband did the same thing but with a plastic chair, which turned out to have been left out too long in the sun. There were about eight of us sitting outside for lunch when he suddenly disappeared under the table, our hosts were very upset so he made very little it but I know it hurt. Still makes me want to giggle when I visualise it though. blush

muse Fri 04-Jun-21 11:22:03

Will do MawBe??

muse Fri 04-Jun-21 11:19:43

Good Morning Mick and all

Just sorted out Mark, gardener. He doesn't need sorting out, he's lovely grin Last raised bed today, Fruit cage one. Cage has to stay where it is and it slopes down slightly.

Half cloud and blue skies at the moment. Last plants to go into the garden. Still taking care with this knee and stopping regularly to exercise it. This is me being positive as I said last night in the kitchen.

B9exchange Enjoy the BBQ. We tend to get the brownies and icecream out. Boxes of different cornettos are in the freezer too.

Gingster I love a sky sea horizon. Beautiful.

stuff can wait. Enjoy the beach cornergran

grandMattie Pinkish nails too smile

Ashcombe Your 3 day stint sounds so entertaining and so realistic. You've really got them drawn into the tales.

I don't blame Rosie for hogging the fan MawBe. Mya lies on our tiled floor. I felt like joining her the other day.

Gagagran. I hope there are a few 0s in the compensation. Reduction in council tax perhaps. Good luck

I dropped some clothes off at our Barnardos the other day Marydoll. I think I read one of your posts where your charity shop wasn't taking them. Perhaps more are starting to now. Red lime tree - going to look that up. I love fruit trees and bushes. We're clearing off some ground so I can plant a few varieties of gooseberries.

Enjoy your weekend Dwmxwg The weather is staying great for you.

MrM is putting the dumper back together today. It will be roaring into action very soon. We have today booked the groundwork man +1 to start work on the new build in a couple of weeks. We shall have power and water soon and be able to flush the toilet. When we have a toilet that is smile

Life has it's ups and downs and the downs are set to try us. Hope the day brings plenty of ups for every one of you.

Urmstongran Fri 04-Jun-21 11:02:13

Good morning from a sunny , breezy Scottish Borders. Two washes done and a bathroom cleaned. Can't work out whether to make chilli or curry for tea. Woman's Hour on. Twenty minutes til elevenses. Sending wishes for a good day.

GrannySomerset Fri 04-Jun-21 10:32:15

Trying to persuade myself I have the energy to do the weekly Tesco shop which could wait till tomorrow. Sad when even the weekly treat doesn’t appeal!

Think we are due another hot and sunny day after yesterday’s cloud, so must give the new pots on the front step a drink now the sun has moved round. I bought a couple ready planted from the garden centre, something I have never done, so need to nurture them to justify the wicked extravagance.

Thinking there must be a novella entitled “Marydoll and the New Doors” and looking forward to reading it. Thinking of Auntieflo, Merlotgran and all those not enjoying life much at present.

EllanVannin Fri 04-Jun-21 10:22:27

Good Morning All x.
Well the sun's up today after two days of respite from it and it's cooler than it was but my guess is that it'll warm up later.

Expecting someone to check all the electrics at some point this morning. It's an annual thing and can take a couple of hours so I can't really get into doing much until he/she has gone.

I had to stay put yesterday to wait for a call-back from a GP when I rang about my swollen feet so Frusemide will be on its way today to take when needed, so as long as they have the desired effect that'll do me.
It makes me wonder how long it's going to be before there are normal appointments again though.

Electrician has been and gone now so an hour wasn't so bad this time and he's just replaced the fire alarm that's all. I'm always on pins until these checks are over, he was masked though and all windows and doors were open.

I think it'll be safe weatherwise to get the big curtains done today while the going's good. It'll be the ironing of them that'll be the hardest part.

I love the fruit tree Marydoll, it's beautiful. You sound so much better today which is great. Hope everyone else's spirits have been lifted a bit with the fine weather, it does help.
Though I feel for anyone whose life isn't going to plan or have health problems to endure. xx.

Wishing everyone a good day and stay safe. x

B9 I buy posh ice cream, last time I had a caffe latte and a mango sorbet, both from Tesco, not big tubs, you may need a couple of each. It went down well, minimal effort and back into the freezer if not used.

Nannytopsy Fri 04-Jun-21 10:05:48

Good morning Mick and all his followers. I hope the blood test is successful this time.
Another late start after a disturbed night. The cat decided he wanted to snuggle up and be stroked at 2am. ?
Clicked shopping to collect - no beer Kitty - and yet more gardening. Lots of plants waiting for a flowerbed!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

LauraNorder Fri 04-Jun-21 10:03:07

Love the gloves GG and the dress Dwmxwg, just goes to show we can all find a random pink flamingo whether it’s in the wardrobe, the garden shed, the smell of a rose, the touch of a child’s hand or in a box of Lego.

B9exchange Fri 04-Jun-21 09:46:57

Good morning all from S W Herts, starting off grey today.

Yesterday I managed to finish painting the summerhouse, found a couple of very small pieces of we rot, so will have to treat those. Also got round to putting up fairy lights on the 9' tall arbour, which have been sitting on the kitchen window ledge since they were given to me at Christmas. We have friends for a barbecue tonight, so I am making an effort!

Conference call at 10.00 about the conference for 100 we usually run in October. Had to be cancelled last year, and I am beginning to wonder about this year, but we will plough on in hope.

Car due for MOT at 10.10, bad planning, so will be late for the call, and have to get DH to collect it, assuming it passes.

Never sure what to do for pudding at barbecues, not keen on using the barbecue for that, just something cold to follow, any ideas?

Wishing an easier day for those with worries, and a healthy and happy day for everyone else.

Urmstongran Fri 04-Jun-21 09:45:17

Hi merlotgran! ?

The novel was ‘A Little Life’ a 2015 novel by American novelist Hanya Yanagihara.

The novel was written over the course of eighteen months. Despite the length and difficult subject matter, it became a bestseller. Wikipedia

Haven’t had time to catch up with everyone yet but wanted to post picture of dress I rediscovered in my wardrobe this morning. I will take to wear tomorrow for DH’s birthday dinner.
Can’t believe I had forgotten I have a?dress ?

LauraNorder Fri 04-Jun-21 09:25:48

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Anglesey where the skies are blue, the birds are singing and Orlin has made some delicious looking biscuits.
Can’t wait for a bite, the recipe was for fairy cakes but hey, he tried and they’re probably delicious.
Today will be gardening, some edges to trim, a bit of hoeing and, because patio slabs being delivered on Monday, a bit of prep levelling the area outside the back door. Will brace myself and think of the calories burning away the winter padding.
Hope you all have a good day and, just like Iris, find delight in that random flamingo.

Good Morning everyone from the Scottish Borders where it is just not quite warm enough to sit in the garden for breakfast. The workmen on the roof next door are a disincentive also.
Is it really a year since DD's wedding Marydoll? hard to believe. Does one require pants on honeymoon? wink
On Orkney with those winds - the answer is probably yes.
DH and thus all the DC have Orcadian ancestry which delighted him when it showed in his DNA test. We spent many hours inspecting graveyards on Mainland.

I hope they have a lovely time and that your door is by now fitted.

I loathe fighting the Council or any official body Gagagran. I hope you get a good outcome.
I am very relieved that your journey went OK grandMattie and you are enjoying yourselves with Iris and co.

Nothing much planned for me. I'll begin to fill in my driving licence application. It has to be renewed every 3 years now.
Have a lovely day all of you including Gillybob wherever you are.

merlotgran Fri 04-Jun-21 09:15:17

Good Morning everyone from my temporary abode in north west London. I rarely post on this thread as it moves so quickly I'd never keep up with all the 'goings on.'

I'm doing a lot of reading at the moment - post hospital enforced idleness and remember seeing a book recommendation by Urmstongran a few weeks ago which I made a note of and then lost!

If you read this, Urmstongran, you said it was one of the best books you had ever read. Can anyone remember what it was?

Not 'Crawdadds' because I've read that.

My kindle is charged in anticipation!

Nannagarra Fri 04-Jun-21 08:49:11

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is glorious so I’ll be out, enjoying the sunshine and getting some exercise.
Had a lovely day yesterday celebrating Miss Chatterbox’s 5th birthday and later catching up with friends.
Sending a smile and a glimpse of a flamingo.
