Good morning all from Glasgow, where the sun is also trying to peek through the clouds.
Forty five years ago today, DH and I got engaged in Kelvingrove Park, in the shadow of Glasgow University. I had just finished my last exam, Archeology, and DH was waiting for me when I came out of the examination hall, an old church. It was all very romantic, shame it went downhill after that! The picture is of the very spot. One Christmas, our children gave us a painting of there, as they knew how much it meant to us.
Last night we had an unexpected phone call to say our replacement, outside conservatory door were ready and they could fit them at 8am this morning! ?
Cue a mad scramble to clear the furniture and get the blinds down. DH is so impatient and didn't wait for me to water my tomato and pepper plants first , before piling everything in a corner. Consequently, I couldn't reach them to water them. My poor babies will probably be deceased, by the time I reach them. Our conservatory is a hothouse at the best of times!?
DH is of course golfing, so I have been left to deal with it. I'm a bit concerned, as some tweaking will be required. They were an irregular size and had to be made to order. ? I'm in catastrophe mode and expecting problems!
Yesterday, I promised I would not buy any more fruit tress, sorry folks I lied! DH spotted an red lime tree, and I was seduced by its quirkiness, it begged me to take it home for the conservatory! ? It was actually DH's fault. After all, he was the one who put it in the trolley! ?
DD and DIL are off on a belated honeymoon to Orkney today, only a year late! They ended up staying for dinner last night, as they had emptied their fridge in preparation for being away.
A really enjoyable evening was had by all.
DD, as usual, left with a care pack. I had made a parcel of her favourite chocolate, sharing bags for her holiday and a packet of pants! Why pants, you ask? From past experience, I know she never brings enough. On one occasion, we trawled the shops in Rome, as she forgot to bring any! I will say no more about that!
Wishing you all a pleasant day and thinking of all my dear friends, who are struggling. I'm looking forward to reading all your news.
I must dash, wash my ( mad) hair, get dressed and move my car.
