I thought he said something like the extra four weeks would actually save many thousands of lives by vaccinating millions more people.
Mind you, he also said July 29th at one point, he was all over the place today.
The main room in your house...
Boris looked shell shocked. 700 admissions to hospital.

He might be right though, in that the unvaccinated older age groups (50 plus) will be more likely to catch the delta variant if the infection rate rises as much as they are anticipating in the next few weeks, and there are still many thousands out there in that category?
Do you think he meant to say that thousands would be infected? He was getting a bit confused in that briefing.

who are the thousands that are going to die?

I'm sorry to be so shrill but I'm not really happy about my youngest going to school where the Indian variant is if it is going to kill so many people. It might kill us? people we know?
where is growstuff?I'm not growstuff but I can give my viewpoint, if you want me to. Where is the figure of thousands coming from? Did somebody mention it tonight at the briefing?
Yes, Boris Johnson
I've sort of mixed up my thought process there as my friend has to visit her Mum in a pod with a window between her and the mum keeps getting really upset and confused. Seeing someone in PPE in a garden with supervision is hardly a luxury or normal either.

Can I just say as someone with a family member is a 'care home' it really isn't as simple as seeing someone in the garden. If you think it is, you need to think about the complex needs of people who require 'care' inside any kind of residential setting and how only seeing someone through a window might impact all their mental health.

Muffinthemoo I do not understand why you have not been at liberty to see your granny under the social distancing regulations at any time since May (and indeed before) whether in her garden or in another outdoors space . If she is in a care home surely outdoor visits have been happening for several weeks.
Or am I missing something?Well said Maw ?
I often think ‘there WAS a window last summer’!
I never understand those who make out it ‘wasn’t possible’.
Choices, people.
?
Very unfair, UG, Muffinthemoo posted exactly why it hasn't been possible and you clearly haven't read it.
Not choices, not choices at all. Except maybe the choice that she made to live by the rules.
Well, it’s best to know what’s happening in your local area and the local police have a very informative Facebook page. It’s appalling the way people treat them sometimes though. Also a good opportunity to thank them for what they do, too.
On a positive note news is coming out that both Pfizer and AZ are 96% and 92% respectively effective against hosptalization
This is against the Delta variant after 2 doses
This was a report by Dr Mary Ramsey head of Immunisation at PHE
So glad I don’t ‘do’ Facebook, Twitter or Insta MayBee!

I think we’re all suffering from covid fatigue. Perhaps we should all agree to disagree. At least none of us are taking part in the sort of behaviour that I’ve seen on my local police Facebook page.
maddyone It read to me that you had turned what Doodledog had said on its head but I'm just as capable of making a mistake as anyone. If I did I apologise but whatever the case I had no intention of saying anything more as this went on far longer than was intended.
I think the majority of people in the U.K. would prefer to be cautious, however I suspect that just as in other cases the minority are going to shout the loudest.
Doodledog
I have not twisted anything you have said, nor have I been spiteful towards you. You have very clearly made your views known, but what you forget is that all you have is an opinion, and others may have a different opinion. You appear not to value the opinions that others hold, that are quite legitimate. You have in fact on this thread accused others of being selfish because they wish to open up, because they may be considering a holiday, or because they may wish to go out, to for restaurants for example. I have pointed out that everything I have done and plan to do is legal, and you may hold an opinion about the things I’m choosing to do, but it is not your right to be rude and/or call me names.
I have not made digs, I have not been spiteful, I was not unpleasant, nor was I selfish.

I apologise if I am repeating what another has said, I have read the last 3 pages of this thread though. Can I just say that I am thoroughly pi**ed off; I have locked down, worn masks, kept safe distance, had home delivery rather than shop, missed out on seeing friends and family, had both vaccinations........and bloody Boris Johnson left the door open to India, not me, not you, him and his sodding government.
Exactly what I think
Ditto….

I think you will have quite a lot of company on that thought.
