Only one family had a TV and all the neighbors piled in to watch the TV with a 12 inch screen and curtains closed so we could see. We were given a book by Richard Dimblbleby entitle Elizabeth our Queen. I still have my copy. Long tables were set up in the street and we had a tea party, sandwiches then jelly and ice cream. She has done us proud.
I was given two New Testaments, one from school, and one from the chapel I attended. The chapel one has a quote in the front "And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me. St Luke 22 - 29.
Yes I remember the Coronation, I was 10. It was a cold wet day and I remember being very bored!! We had a TV that my Stepfather who was into electronics had made. Friends, relations all gathered! I remember the bun throwing and carving the huge Ox being roasted in the market place. I was given a silver crown 5/- piece, and a coach and horses with the Queen and P.P inside as souvenirs.
