Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Worried I will miss out on my grandson
Why Does Oil Fluctuate Just On The Whims And Wishes Of Trump?
Good Morning Everyone,
its cloudy and wet outside here in Brackley this morning.
Today , will be a nice quiet day in with TV , will be watching cycling form Spain, and France more or less from lunchtime .
Yesterdays trip out somewhat changed route slightly , I got yo Buckingham to find when on X5 we had a long detour ,as a former rail line bridge is in the process of being demolished , to make way for a new bridge which will be part of HS2 or as I have started to call it the Boris Line.
Take care,
Mick
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning everyone from a dry overcast east coast of Fife.
What a day we had yesterday we had a great visit from our dd and our 2 gns lots of boases aka hugs lots of love ? and a cheeky wee game of croquet on the well kept lawn which himself loves to keep nice
there’s himself already chatting on the phone to our ds who phoned wishing him a happy Father’s Day
Weve got lots on today we’re off to the lovely fishing village of Anstruther for another meet up with our dd and 2 gds where we’re having a fish supper for tea.
What more can a granny and grandad want from life? but the love of a good family and a fish tea from the worlds renowned east of Scotland’s fishing village and chip shop
thinking today of those who sadly don’t have this love especially the fathers out there
Good morning everyone from a very grey and overcast day here at DD's in East Northants. Rain forecast later. It will be a gentle day indoors till it's time to for me to go home.
Yesterday DD and I went to the nearby shopping centre, and I am afraid that money was spent. I must remember not to go into certain shops as I invariably come out with something! I came home with a lovely blue jumper and yet another summer top. Having been deprived of retail therapy for nearly 18 months I think it's only right that these shops get some of my custom - well that's my story and I'm sticking to it...... Coffee and cake were taken in the M &S cafe.
The rest of the day was spent watching rugby, Grand Prix qualifying and motorbike racing. A delicious Indian takeaway was enjoyed by all later on, and I think there's enough left over for seconds tonight.
A pleasant Sunday to all.
Morning all. Worrying about the rise in Covid cases , Ash
Beautiful flowers grandMattie - I am not good at naming flowers but recognised peonies. We have Sweet peas growing in pots. I hope they are more successful than last year as they are my favourites. Looking after two DG today while DS and DIL go for lunch to celebrate a 90th birthday. Roast beef for dinner here.
The best day possible to all.
Hello from a somewhat damp south Cornwall, probably because my aforementioned sun umbrellas arrived yesterday.
It's a lottery here now with cafes and bars variously opening and closing due to Covid since G7, such a shame for the young workers. Mind you, with tons of holidaymakers around a cheerful atmosphere prevails.
Yesterday an almighty kerfuffle which lured me outside to see a large hawk over the town centre surrounded by masses of circling gulls and crows, all striving to drive it away, which they duly did. Amazing sight. Talking of birds, I've stuffed a few pigeons, as one does, will post a pic tomorrow.
Callistemon, the Flying Grandson photo was taken by my professional photographer son.
Have the best Sunday you can, everyone.
This is for muse (have tried to pm you several times but it won't send).
The market I mentioned is in Falmouth on a Saturday but it is tiny and eclectic - books, plants, antiques, hippy clothes, vegan food. There's a bigger farmers' market on Tuesdays on the Moor in Falmouth but the best one is on Wednesdays on Lemon Quay in Truro. I think maybe the Cornwall County Council website would give you uptodate info.
Elizabeth, I have fish tea envy! DD has booked a cottage for us in Cellardyke for September. So many happy memories of holidays in Anstruther and Cellardyke, when the children were young. It is lovely to read of you getting out and about again after a difficult year for you. Long may it continue.
Whitby is another place which holds many happy memories. ? I always lusted after a piece of Whitby jet jewellery, but could never afford it, when the children were young.
Good morning all. Polmont is dry and cloudy. I'm a bit cloudy too as I had a particularly bad night's sleep. Grandmattie lovely peonies. Ashcombe the rise in cases after G7 must be a worry for Cornwall. This isn't going anywhere fast,is it? Marydoll a nose bleed maybe? Take care.
Yesterday was a usual Saturday. Housework and shopping. Then I babysat to let dd and sil go for a curry. They weren't long and dgs slept throughout. They had taken him to the transport museum in Glasgow in the morning as he loves anything that moves so all his cars and trucks were out for playing. I remember when the transport museum was near kelvingrove art gallery and museum. I loved to visit.
Today is dd and sil's 6th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful wedding and I thoroughly enjoyed myself as did they! They are a lovely couple. I don't think they are planning much. I might nip to the local garden centre as my lavender died and I need to replace it with something. Have a good day all.
Cloudy but dry Cornwall
Good morning Mick
Quiet day here except for MrM still snoring.
The massive rise in COVID cases here does scare me. A % of them in hospital have had both jabs. DD and DGD arrive on Saturday but I fear we will not travel far
I will pm you Ali. Thank you so much
Safe day everyone
Good morning from Shropshire. We have had rain overnight but dry again now.
Spent a few hours with FIL yesterday. His spirit is strong but his body is very weak?We then went to visit DH’s niece in the Valleys and had a lovely drive home over the Brecon Beacons.
Ash, I love the sound of the Agatha Christie display and the Devonshire cottage recreation.Exactly what I would have chosen to look at.
Lovely picture of Whitby also the mention of Ilkley. Both places we like to visit.
I will spend today catching up with laundry and house chores?DH will do the garden and supermarket shop.We have a busy week ahead so will try and start off by being very organised!
Sending love to Cherry and thinking of grandmajet,Auntieflo and all unwell and recuperating.Glad to hear all went well yesterday blossoming?
Have the best day you can everyone??
Good morning Mick and all his followers. Glad there’s plenty of cycling for you to watch Mick
Like so many of you, we had heavy rain last night and it’s grey this morning, with more to come. I have slug nematodes to water in still and this looks like perfect conditions.
DS came yesterday to collect the children and stayed for a couple of hours watching rugby.
I shall have to find something for tea - we gave up and got a Chinese last night!
Lots of you with happy holiday memories - I don’t know the east so well but had childhood holidays to Mallaig, Arisaig and the West of Scotland. A return is on my bucket list.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Grandmabatty, our children loved the old transport museum, where we spent many a happy wet Sunday!
Dollie loves the new one, apart from the steam engine which is cleverly balanced over a balcony. She thought it was Thomas and was very upset at the thought of him falling off!
My favourite part is the replica of an old fashioned street, complete with the Subway stations. It makes me quite nostalgic.
It's new location on the riverside makes it even more attrative, complete with the Tall Ship, which is berthed there.
Well worth a visit if you are visiting Glasgow.
It definitely wasn't a nosebleed. DH says I have a tiny scratch on me ear, but how could that have caused such a mess?
Morning everyone,
A rather dull start to the day here in South Yorkshire and rain is forecast for later so although the front hedge could do with a light clip, it will have to wait (not too much of a clip, don't want to frighten any birds, though not seen any nesting in it).
Scentia, Whitby is lovely and Staithes is very pretty. So pleased you are enjoying your visit. There are so many lovely places to visit all over Yorkshire (though I may be a teensy, weeny bit biased ?).
I hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning everyone. Grey skies here in the Scottish Borders. Had trip to Melrose yesterday. Lovely drive there. Nothing planned for today bar trip to local recycling centre about which I am very excited. Physio throughout the day. Managed to hurt shoulder blade yesterday so taking it a bit easier (if possible!). Listening to Broadcasting House. A great start to Sunday. Have a good day as possible everyone.
Marydoll apparently dgs loved the street with the cobbles and was running in and out of the pub etc. They were disappointed that the exhibits were closed as he would have loved to go on the cars etc but understandable in these days. He was getting tired so they'll definitely go back for the tall ship. Ears do bleed profusely so it probably was that.
Marydoll the tiniest scratch can look like a murrrder here sometimes. Oddly my husband and I are both on blood thinners, for him the cat only taps him in passing and we nearly need an ambulance?? whereas with me even a deepish cut this week hardly showed, I guess I’ve got a lot of fat…..
Morning all from a cloudy east Northants. Temperature has definitely dropped, back to wearing sweatshirts! Not much on today, probably watching sport on tv as too wet for the gardening. Will be back later to read all the posts. Wishing everyone a good and peaceful day.
Good morning all, I had a lovely lie in this morning as I was exhausted last night. I’m happy to report that the procedure went very well. It was not painful and everything was explained. The lovely dr. and nurses were very considerate and looked after me well. There was IV sedation and gas & air available if I wanted them, but I decided to do without so I could get home quicker. My surgery has healed beautifully, no scarring or lesions and best of all no sign of any new cancer developing. She removed a small polyp and said it isn’t cancer, but it will be sent to the lab as a matter of routine. I should hear from my surgeon, the wonderful Mr. P., in a few weeks. Thank you all so much for your support, it has helped me more than you might realise. I’m so happy and relieved it’s all over, got home to find a neighbour had left a box of cakes. People are so kind.
I’m now going to read the thread fully and catch up on all your news. I’ll be back later.
Good Morning everyone! Here I sit listening to the boom banger bang of thunder rolling all around me. ⛈⚡️ Some relief for the parched ground hereabouts ??. If tomorrow I post a pic showing my eyes lit up and every hair on my head standing on end, you’ll know I should not have been sitting at this computer right now………
The photo shows some of the flowers opening on my trees in the garden right now. Sent to cheer your Sunday if needed.
What a lovely thing to say about Father’s Day and the benefits of a loving family today, Elizabeth :
thinking today of those who sadly don’t have this love especially the fathers out there
You’ve got a big heart, lady!
Instructions to our favourite pigeon-stuffer……take special care if the Virus has flared up in your part of Cornwall. (I’m wondering if it trails around after Boris ?)
Have a truly wonderful Birthday celebration, with your DD1, sar - ??????
and maybe the odd present or two tomorrow to make up for the curtain commitments!!
Gelisa and Scentia you’ll need to measure your height when you get back home. Bet you’re shorter after all that walking. Staithes looks so pretty and the Broads are lovely. Some sunshine would be good for the roses, though. ?
So pleased you’ve mastered Urms Lazy Grans School plan, corner. Will you get a Susstifikat when she finally strolls back to this thread, do you think? All that effort you’ve put in this weekend, I should hope so.
Hope the break is fabulous, Urms and Scotland is being kind to you and yours.
We’re all agreed here then that Peonies are just beautiful? What a story, harri. But you can’t make garden lovers from people who are addicted to concrete and asphalt, can you? It’s all happening at Gwen’s - enjoy your time with your family, but don’t forget to take a rest now and then. Same for you, muse. Let Mya distract you (both) - another busy Monday tomorrow, I should imagine.
Last night I watched a rather intense but quite moving ‘play’ (on BBC2?) called ‘Together”. Focussed on a warring couple whose difficult relationship was played out during the pandemic. It was difficult not to be frequently jolted by the realisation that lots of the detail and what they said was true and actually happened - experienced by us all. I felt afterwards that had I seen this play and followed the story as a work of total fiction (maybe set in the future), I would have found it extremely scary. So, haven’t we done well, folks? We should be so proud of ourselves and of the way we’ve navigated our lives over these last endless months.
To all unwell, I’m sending warm wishes. To those busy and missing - hi to you, enjoy what you’re up to and keep on staying safe, please.
Happy Sunday. (And they are Pomegranate trees)
See you in the week…….???♀️????
Morning all, bit wet and grey here atm, hope things improve as going to a bbq later for DGC 5th birthday.
Marydoll earlobes can bleed profusely I think- I know from personal experience when, as a teenager, I trapped an earlobe in a car door. To this day I don't know how I did it and 50 odd years later can still feel the indent!
Have as good day as you can folks, and sending virtual hugs for those feeling less than brilliant today, for whatever reason.
Grandmafrench pomegranate trees! Do you have your very own pomegranates? They are a favourite in our family. Keep safe from the thunder although I'm a bit jealous as I love a good storm. I'm just back from the garden centre where I increased their profits mightily. Off to plant now.
Good morning Mick and all from till very hot and humid Lueneburg. I love it. We had a little bit of a thunderstorm this morning with lots of rain. Just what I wanted. I am getting so many tips from places to visit in your posts - that I can`t wait. Fish and chips, roast lamb mmm. Anyway, friends again today.
Which is very nice but I am thinking I quite enjoyed not having any commitments as well. Marydoll I do admire you.
Today last of the asparagus - 24th - and Schinken.
I am wishing you all a lovely Sunday and no worries.
Keep well.
Not really morning now but a good day to you all.
Alizirin great photo of flying Gs. It reminded me of the one DDil took last summer of DS2 and Gd. See pic
Family have just left . We had a lovely day yesterday as the rain held off. A walk in the forest and beach combing on the beach. GD (12) collected unusual stones and scanned them on her phone to identify them. Quite surprising !
Enjoy the rest of your day, all ?
Ha ha, snap! Lovely pic Gingster. Don't dads just love throwing their little ones around!!
