Are there any famous or well known people you just dislike for no rational reason ?
Nigel Farage is one for me
Simon Cowell another. Never met either of them and probably never will but even before I knew what they were known for, something made me dislike them.

Holly somebody or other, blank-eyed, presents with Philip Schofield another irritating smug looking person.

Disregarding politicians and people with obnoxious opinions, such as Jeremy Clarkson or Carol Malone, there are plenty of people I dislike for fairly irrational reasons, including :

Smug - Ian Hislop, Paul Hollywood, Dawn French, James Martin, Caroline Quentin and Ricky Gervais, the king of smugness.

Creepy - Stephen Fry, David Walliams, Laurence Fox (obnoxious opinions too.)

Generally irritating - Graham Norton, Sarah Millican, Frank Skinner. There's also a slimy man who makes a big thing about being a working class right wing comedian, but I can't remember his name.

Don't know how any could dislike Professor Brian Cox. Extremely clever and such a soothing voice. He should read bedtime stories.

I can’t watch anything with Keith Lemon in. My son used to buy his videos but I’ve never watched them.

Alegrias1 Fri 25-Jun-21 20:00:34

I love the fact that lots of people dislike other people whose names they don't even know....

Callistemon Fri 25-Jun-21 19:53:34

Rob Dryden would have been on the list until I recently realised how funny he is in the programme with Steve Coogan.

Did you mean Rob Brydon, Mamma66?
No, he's great, although Uncle Bryn is definitely a bit dodgy!

Mamma66 Fri 25-Jun-21 19:41:28

Claudia Winkleman
Jimmy Carr
Definitely Mr Tumble (unsettling is spot on).

Michael McIntyre makes me want to kick the TV
Keith Lemon

I can without question dislike any person/s who chose to pronounce the word FOR as FIR/FER.What does this show those wishing to learn correct pronunciation of the English language ?
Confusion hmm

The trouble is, it is very difficult to suddenly start speaking in a different accent to the one you have grown up with. People who do, just sound very affected. I have a northern accent and like it or not, I'm stuck with it!

Annodomini. That man gives me he creeps. He has the most evil eyes.

susieq3 Fri 25-Jun-21 18:52:36

Philip schofield and Alexander Armstrong. So sickly. Rita Chacrabati ( spelling not sure) does the 6pm news on itv. She needs to learn to present, sounds like she’s going to stop half way through a sentence.

Greenlady 102. I must defend Gareth Malone, who formed the Great British Home Chorus at the beginning of the first Lockdown last year, and taught hundreds of us for free EVERY weekday from his studio shed at the bottom of his garden for around 3 months. As I live on my own it really helped me survive that first stint .
Recently I've been singing with the Stay at Home Choir, which coincidentally has released our latest piece today, which is Songbird , with the King Singers.

Calendargirl

Annaelise Dodds- just been on the News.

Just the sight of her hair irritates me. It looks a mess.

Mind you, so does mine, but I’m not on tv, fortunately.

I'm sure she's a very capable woman but she always looks frighteningly intense.

I did see her once when her small child wandered in during an interview and I did realise then that she is, in fact, human.

Andrew Marr - sadly I cannot watch any of his documentaries no matter how interesting I find the subject matter, because he fronts them.
Lucy Worsely - smug & coquettish.
Michael Gove - even if I didn't know his politics.

Lilyflower Fri 25-Jun-21 17:54:34

Jacinda Ardern.
