Irrational dislikes on sight

Are there any famous or well known people you just dislike for no rational reason ?
Nigel Farage is one for me
Simon Cowell another. Never met either of them and probably never will but even before I knew what they were known for, something made me dislike them.

Some comments purely show political leanings. Nobody on the left will accept that Jeremy Corbyn has been linked to Palestinian terror groups and if you take the proposition that most people will have built in prejudices about people they see on TV. I found this thread most interesting and some choices made me think. I agree that Gary Lineker is irritating on so many levels and I do think the BBC overpays him. I smiled at the references to Nigel Farage and can understand how annoying his whole manner is. I had no idea about Jennifer Saunders being so annoying or Judi Dench’s voice! I did agree about Emma Thompson . She lives very near me, next door to her mother , Phyllida Law. Her husband Greg Wise , was a very attractive man! I also agree with the choice of Jeremy Clarkson, who acts like a small boy with his car driving mates. But then I watched Clarkson’s Farm and he was able to laugh at himself which is a good human trait. I see he has a glamorous girl friend much younger than him, silly old goat.
Thank you for starting this thread! Very thought provoking. And I like Cliff Richard for his voice and was disappointed that people did not like Ricky Gervais. He is rather cocky but I forgive that because he gives his money away generously to animal causes and he truly loves animals! Me too!

Well, I suppose we could take heart from the fact that these people are disliked for no rational reason.

Always thought that was the case.

Justin Fletcher MBE presents nationwide children's shows in theatres and on TV. He plays a host of characters in his programmes and shows, one of them being Mr. Tumble. Every one to their own opinion but he has come in for some quite pointed innuendo on here with one comparing him to Jimmy Saville! Have these remarks been made because he works closely with children, so it stands to reason that he must be a creep? We know Saville's history but as there is nothing to tar Justin Fletcher (aka Mt. Tumble) with the same brush, it is a nasty suggestion to make against him.

It was Mr Tumble as a character that my grandson didn’t like. Similar to some people finding clowns creepy I suppose. No problem with the person portraying him.

It was Granny23 mentioning that she feels the same way towards Mr. Tumble as she did towards Jimmy Saville. Knowing what we do about Saville now, it seemed somewhat unfair on Fletcher's character. Apologies for jumping to conclusions.

Forgot to add Laurence Fox, takes himself far too seriously in his self assummed 'hero of anti woke' role.

Such a shame, I always enjoyed his work as an actor on TV.

Artaylar Fri 25-Jun-21 16:40:24

Philip Schofield and his day time TV co presenter, Holly somebody.

On the political front (though hardly I can call this irrational) Nigel Farage, Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, Dominic Cummings.

Funnily enough, I do not mind Piers Morgan. Yes, he comes across as a right twonk at times and it is'nt often I agree with his views, though I think what saves him from being insufferable is his self awareness and (often very humourous) self deprecation. I've read a couple of his books where both of these qualities are very evident.

Carol Klein from Gardeners Word. So over the top and gushing, think she has been feeding herself Growmore instead of her plants. Kate Humble on the same vein, just don't find gushing and cooing people to be sincere.

Me too re Carol Klein. I’m sure she’s really lovely but I have a problem with people that always talk and smile at the same time. But again I’m saying that someone irritates me, not that I dislike them.

Daisend1 Fri 25-Jun-21 16:18:54

Never having personally met Jeremy Clarkson am I in a position to say 'I dislike him'? after all he could be the most charming like able person I have yet to meet.

Lucca : Your post of 13.05 is quite blunt, you wrote
PLEASE NOTE :

I ask how do you know what people have written are not irrational dislikes on sight? You are not a mind reader.
My own list was not people I hate it was people I dislike.

It is not up to you to say it is time the thread disappeared.

It is perfectly obvious people are talking about who they dislike (although stronger words are used) fir a variety of reasons, nothing to do with instant irrational dislike.
I am entitled to say what I think about a thread,

Too many overpaid wasters!!!???

mrswoo Fri 25-Jun-21 16:06:56

John Humphries! Unfortunately he was sitting the other side of a desk from me in my office. He was off-hand, pompous, patronising and verging on rudeness not just to myself but to his then partner. I was really relieved for her when I read that they were no longer together. A really unpleasant man.

EEJit Fri 25-Jun-21 16:06:48

Oh so many.

I'll start with:-
Jonathan Ross
Clive Anderson
Rylan Clarke-Neal
Simon Cowell
David Dickenson

That'll do for starters.

Juliet27 Fri 25-Jun-21 16:03:53

Ed Sheeran

Elvis58 Fri 25-Jun-21 16:01:56

Too many to mention but the stand out two are Laura Kuenssberg and Naga Muchetty.Cannot stand either of them both think they are cleverer than the audience and come across as smug and throughly unpleasent.

granjan Fri 25-Jun-21 15:50:31

Top of my list, Dominic Cummings - an instant dislike, followed by Jamie Oliver (always looks smug) and as of today, Matt Hancock just seeing his photo makes me dislike him, I have felt a bit sorry for him in the past - I know! Please don’t shout at me!!!

Nannan2 Fri 25-Jun-21 15:42:17

Can't stand either of them.Oh and for the ladies- Claudia Winkleman.(& yes i do think it was her husband who said that on the shampoo advert!)

Nannan2 Fri 25-Jun-21 15:39:40

I always fancied my chances on the 'millionare' show, except for Chris Tarrant- then they replaced him with Clarkson. So no chance!
