Celebs That You Rather Like, Actually?

Hello Everyone! ?

As a companion thread to nanna8's 'irrational dislikes on sight'.

Who, in the public eye, do you think comes across as rather a good egg?

Extra points if the celeb in question is usually found in the other camp
(is there anyone out there who actually likes Schofield or Holden??)

For me, it's Rylan Clarke-Neal.
I think that he is a TV natural, and he seems really warm and friendly.
I'd really like to be his mate.

So, which Celebs do you have a soft spot for, and why?

Thank you!

Monty Don,
Alistair Appleton,
Adam Henson,
Charlie Luxton,
Charlene White.
All seem genuine gentle people.

Dan Walker on the BBC Breakfast.
A thoroughly nice young man.
He was the catalyst for making a 82 yr old war veteran’s dream come true 2 yrs ago after a chance meeting with him when Dan was walking his dog in the park.
The BBC organised a fly past which was Tony Foulds’s lifelong dream to witness - in memory of 10 American airmen who lost their lives when their aircraft crashed in to the park (in Sheffield) in the second WW when Tony was a child.
Tony Foulds has tended a memorial for the airmen in the park for decades since and was visiting it when Dan came across him.

I met Alastair Appleton once many years ago. He was an absolute darling.

May I add Will from The Repair Shop to my list? Another seemingly kind gentle person.

Rylan for me too FC but most definitely not Jeremy Clarkson.

There are many but I’ll narrow it down:
Adam Strong - gardeners’ world
Carol Kirkwood
Miriam Margolyes
Grayson and Phillipa Perry.
Graham Norton
Martin Sheen (uk actor)
Bill Nye
Ed Sheeran
Anthony Head
Robin Williams
George Clooney

Oh shysal How I agree re Will from The Repair Shop. He seems such a poppet. I love Rylan too.

Lisa Tarbuck for me too, we listen to her Saturday evening radio show most weeks.

Will from The Repair Shop
Graham Norton
Johnnie Walker

Some really weird names here! Miriam Margolyes is hardly 'a good egg' with her disgusting language, and always trying to shock the audience with her dreadful stories.

My favourite is Lee Mack for his quick fire funny comments and way of making everything sound funny. He could make me laugh just reading the telephone directory.

henetha Fri 25-Jun-21 10:15:17

There are too many people I like on TV to list really, but Graham Norton is a favourite, as is Jeremy Clarkson, Matt Baker, Chris Packham, David Mitchell, Lee Mack, the list is endless. Notice they are all men? Not sure what that says about me! grin

As an antidote to this (almost) all-male love-fest: Mary Beard.

Casdon Fri 25-Jun-21 10:56:11

I like George Alagiah, somehow he makes the news seem better whatever it is.
I like the Strawbridges, I’m the opposite to you in that respect FannyCornforth, I watch Angel and think wow I wish I had her energy and creativity - and her daring fashion sense, she doesn’t care what anybody thinks.

Talullah Fri 25-Jun-21 11:00:44

I failed to mention one of my favourites, Tchéky Karyo. Also I'm rather fond of Jodie Comer and Kim Bodnia from Killing Eve.

LauraNorder Fri 25-Jun-21 11:07:01

Paul O’Grady for his very genuine love of animals. Such a big softie.

Anniebach Fri 25-Jun-21 11:13:40

Monty Don
Derek, BBC Wales weather man
Carol Kirkwood
Rhod Gilbert
Jeremy Clarkson
Matt Baker
Michael Sheen. Welsh actor
Mary and Giles. Gogglebox
Victoria Derbyshire
Huw Edwards

Lillie Fri 25-Jun-21 11:19:05

Dawn french and jennifer saunders

tiredoldwoman Fri 25-Jun-21 11:19:40

Ben Fogle , he's so good with the people that he meets .

nanna8 Fri 25-Jun-21 11:21:10

I don’t know most of those except George Clooney, Robyn Williams and Miriam Margolyes. They are ok but not so keen on Miriam, she reminds me of one of my grumpy old aunties to look at,so an unfair comparison. I like Julie Bishop who used to be our foreign minister until she was shafted by the blokes in the Liberals.

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Jun-21 11:22:16

Casdon - re Angel, you're going to think I'm a right cow bag now, but here goes.
I think that she is fake and a fraud.
I think that her persona is extremely contrived.
She is a very good business woman, granted, and she has done very well with very little real artistic talent.
(Sorry! blush Please don't anyone come back and have a pop at me - we are all allowed our little moments of outspokenness!)

EkwaNimitee Fri 25-Jun-21 11:34:28

Monty Don, Tom Heap (Countryfile), Ben Fogle, Simon Reeve and I'm another who rather likes Mary Beard. Quite a few names above are on my dislike/loath list!

mrswoo Fri 25-Jun-21 11:57:15

I really like (Sir) Tony Robinson - loved his series about the Thames and the train journey one. He comes across as a genuinely nice person and is so enthusiastic about everything he does
I thought I quite liked Dick and Angel until I paid good money to see them live. I left at the interval and cannot bear to watch them on telly now.

Gwyneth Fri 25-Jun-21 13:04:52

Mary Beard
Monty Don
Lucy Worsley
Huw Edwards
The two brothers off the farming programme Dave and ?
Julian Norton
Peter Wright
David Attenborough

Kate1949 Fri 25-Jun-21 13:10:47

Another vote for Simon Reeve.
Martin Clunes comes across well. We saw him filming Doc Martin and he was very obliging with fans asking for photos

Antonia Fri 25-Jun-21 13:18:04

I like Brian Cox. So clever and yet so down to earth. ( Not a good description as he's mainly looking at the heavens!)

Alegrias1 Fri 25-Jun-21 13:21:21

I met Lorraine Kelly once. She's lovely. WYSIWYG.

greenlady102 Fri 25-Jun-21 13:33:26

Bill Turnbull
Rylan Clarke-Neal
Fiona Bruce
Tim Wonnacott
Do Jonathan Van Tam, Jenny Harries and Chris Witty count?
Anita Manning
