Good Morning Saturday
(65 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy but dry here in Brackley at the moment.
My plans for today are slightly different , will get the bus to Bicester direct ,and have 2 hours there , as I will be returning to try and watch the Tour De France first stage in full on Eurosport , although on ITV 4 as well , its the commentary team and presentation which differs .
Before that the women's la course over the same route as the men's stage, today only next year there will be a full blown women's race of the Tour De France , last held in the 80`s .
Take Care,
Mick
Afternoon Mick and all
I have the energy of a sloth today.
GrannySomerser I am sending you a virtual (((hug))) ?
KittyLester I do hope they find your BiL infection soon, hope your FiL is on the mend soonSusan56
Sar53 enjoy your curtain making, it will keep you out of trouble ? Gingster sounds like my kind of afternoon ?
Having a lazy weekend, trying to catch up with jobs that do not get done when we have the GC here.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Grannysomerset. I do hope today improves and that Tomorrow fulfills it’s promise
I used to cry buckets in the shower so as not to annoy the children , scream if you need to xxxxx
Thank you all for your kindness. It’s amazingly helpful despite being virtual. I can say things here that I wouldn’t burden the children with - after all, if there is nothing they can do there is no point in dumping on them. Tomorrow will be a better day.
Thanks grandmafrench. I’ll imagine I’m there with you enjoying a nice iced drink, and a swim in that beautiful pool.
?♀️?
And I’ve just remembered what it was, Ash. As a small girl, I was really moved by a lovely bronze sign amongst the flowers in a beautiful area of public gardens where I used to walk after school with my Mum. That verse and *one is nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth’ was engraved there, and in Braille, and I’ve never forgotten it nor the feeling of utter peace being outside amongst plants and flowers.
That is where you should escape, GrannyS, try to recharge and know that - with proper help - you’ll carry on. Because…
he’d do it all for you. In a heartbeat, I suspect.
Every single one of us would turn up to help if we could, so please take some strength from that if you can. ?
You’re always welcome Gingster. I shall pump up a floaty thing and make some more ice - just in case.
MaggieTulliver here is that Buddleia. First time I’d ever seen one that colour too. Yes, I speak French, lived in France 20 years. Originally in Normandy, now in l’Herault, Occitanie ( once known as Languedoc)!
I’ve also lived in Herts……on the Cambs and Essex borders.
Hope you’ll enjoy getting to know everyone on this thread!
Good morning from the Scottish Borders. I'm drinking my coffee with my coat on. It is freezing.
Pity because our garden is hosting a party this afternoon.
3 gazebos have gone up but we could do wonderful sales of midge nets and skin so soft.
Sorry to hear of health worries .
I'll enjoy reading about the Rose Street murrder, Marydoll
Hoping everyone has the best day possible wherever you happen to be.
Good Morning all from cloudy Harrogate, we've had a lovely time in Melrose, visiting Selkirk and Peebles. I thought Selkirk would be full of tea towels and Mugs with The Selkirk Grace printed on, but eventually managed to but the last Tea Towel!! We did buy a Selkirk Bannock, which is very tasty!! We were very fortunate with the weather. My other sister joined us from Lochmaben with her DH.
With a bit of luck you'll get a picture of Melrose Abbey!!
Kitty. I'm so sorry about your DB, hope there is good news soon.
GrannySomerset Sorry you are having a bad weekend.
Your DH and mine seem very alike Marydoll that's just the sort of thing he does, but it's not his fault!!
Have the best day you can, folks
Good morning from a rather dull, very still and not too warm South Yorkshire.
I've put some washing out to dry, but suspect it won't do very much unless the sun manages to break through, but it might get the worst of the wet off it - if not, it will be a case of resorting to indoor drying.
Going to bake a cake shortly as dessert for this evening - we've got our friends popping round for a bite to eat. I had hoped we'd be able to sit outdoors, but that looks unlikely unless it warms up dramatically, so it will be indoors probably, with windows open for ventilation. Hope we don't freeze!
? for you, GrannySomerset, and I hope posting here is helping you a little bit.
Well, on with the jobs. Take care everyone.
Grannysomerset deep breaths and a sit in the garden with a cold glass of something soothing. Sending you kind and healing thoughts. You’re a strong lady. ?
Grandmafrench I would love to plunge into that pool right now! Enjoy!
Thinking of you GrannySomerset a virtual hug from me?
Thinking about you*GrannySomerset*, I wish I could say something useful but you are doing so well ❤️
A virtual hug to GrannySomerset from me also
GrannySomerset, a virtual hug from me to you.
*Granny Somerset*he can’t help it and it must be terribly demeaning for him too (been there, done that) but feel free to scare the neighbours and have a good scream.
You need it
GrannySomerset?I hope your day gets better.
Good morning all, very late to the party. It’s dry with sunny intervals in Hertfordshire and I’m having my Saturday lie-in! No plans today apart from food shop and a bit of gardening. I love buddleia Grandmafrench but have never seen an orange one. Whereabouts in France are you, do you speak French?
GrannySomerset, my heart goes out to you. I hope you can find a quiet few moments to sit in the garden, hear the birds, breath deeply and appreciate your wonderful inner strength. Big hug to you ?
Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest Lancashire coast. Your remarks re watching the cycling remind me of my uncle watching football who turned the sound down and listened to the radio commentary with it.
Enjoyed my art group very much yesterday although my painting nothing special and I missed out the pine trees around he lake as I felt that made it look like a Bob Ross? Painting, nice as he is (or was). We then all had coffee in town and I couldn’t talking, I think months of my trap shut have brought that on. I’ll shut up next time.
Still moving art stuff downstairs, I don’t think Picasso had as much as I have. I’ll have to justify it somehow.
Buon viaggio Marydoll and what a pretty place to dine Ashcombe.
Lovely painting of a steam train yesterday.
Have a good day and thoughts to anyone with worries.
Disastrous start to the day resulting in all DH’s bedding needing the washing machine including the duvet and waterproof mattress cover. Don’t ask! Day not improved when I emptied the dishwasher to find standing water in the bottom. No “pump out only” control so a call is in to the local repair expert which won’t get a response before Monday. What else can go wrong? Need to do a supermarket shop but doubt that it is wise to get behind the wheel today.
Deep breaths needed or I shall say something unforgivable to DH who is not to blame for his mishaps. Perhaps I might go outside and scream but that would upset the neighbours. Hope other people are having a less frustrating morning and that those anxious about sick friends and relatives get some better news.
Good morning everyone, overcast here too.
for Kitty, you must be so worried. Looking forward to photos of your steam train trip Marydoll when you have finished strangling DH over the wifi!
Not a lot planned for today. I can't believe I am name dropping like this, but tomorrow I have an online date with food critic William Sitwell and chef Michel Roux (junior) It is an American Express event, three cookery schools send you recipes for you to cook starter, mains and dessert along with them, then you can ask questions of William and Michel. I have the ingredients in, and might do some girly swat pre prep. ] already habe brave friends queuing for leftovers!
Enjoy your weekend, whatever it brings.
Good Morning everyone from hot and sunny ??.
We’re blessed with many butterflies today - including Swallowtails,, that I love. Buddleia is helping to attract them, especially a lovely orange one which has grown too tall for good photos. I must cut it right down for next year, so we can reap the benefits. I’m thrilled when ? land on me - other big insects, no thank you!
We may have moules for lunch. Depends whether my darling man decides decides to scooter back into the village to visit one of the shellfish outlets - or not. The pool’s looking tempting now and the increasing numbers of holiday makers less so. Perhaps a large salad may suffice!
Very pretty Iris Outfit, mattie. How blessed are young girls with dressmaker Grannies. And how blessed are boat owners who know people who make curtains, sar. Poor you….think you need a serious word with your DH and his good intentions! ?. Enjoy your vineyard BBQ, Pitt. (Or, PatientPitt as you’ll soon be known). At this rate patio man needs to be careful he doesn’t end up under that patio?.
An emotional day for your picnic, dwmx, hope it gives your family some comfort to spend time together.
Happier news soon, we hope, kitty.? Praying your FiL receives the care and kindness needed, susan. Never said congrats to your DD. Saying it now! ?.
Gingster that’s what I’d call the proper use of a Pub. How lovely for you both. Hope everyone’s outings and aboutings are enormous fun, with matching weather this weekend.
If Mya’s having her nails done, there must be so much excitement chez Muse today. Have a marvellous get together, you’ve waited long enough! Enjoy time with your DD too, Blue. I wish I hadn’t forgotten what I meant to say to you, Ash. Sorry, but enjoy your lunch (while I take time to think about it.
If you’ve not been banned, dear EV, can you not tell us you’re ok, please?
Best of days to you all - here, taking a break or missing. Stay fit and well and accept only sunshine, flamingoes and good times in your lives.
Happy Saturday! ??????
Good morning Mick and all from a dry and brighter Anglesey. Everything is looking very green and lush after the rain.
Grocery delivery today and perhaps some hoeing of the borders.
Your poor brother Kitty, such a worry. Hope for some answers soon.
Everyone seems very busy, lovely to be out and about with friends and family or simply having a change of scenery.
Have a good day everyone, remember to stay cautious but keep smiling behind that mask. ?
Good morning from a very dull Black Country, where it absolutely tipped it down last night. Even put the heating on!
Off to DD's this afternoon as I am looking after the girls tonight whilst parents go out for a meal, their first on their own in a very long time. I will take the girls to the local pub for a meal at 5pm. Then I will stay overnight! Not done that since early last year.
So sorry to hear that your brother is not improving kittyI hope they find the source of the infection soon.
Pittcity I lived near Colchester for a year in 1976. Not been back since, so I imagine it has changed a lot.
Enjoy your break away Marydoll
How did I manage to spell "possibly" wrongly ? Shame you can't fix mistakes before the whole world sees them !
