Beyond just videos we enjoy Clare Teal on Jazz fm - listening usually on catchup. She plays a wonderful selection of jazz across the years and describes the artists to enhance our listening. Obvs she always includes Ella! To improve our knowledge of modern jazz - not as easy to understand sometimes - we listen to Jamie Cullum who has introduced to several new artists who still enjoy the classics. Sadly Covid has prevented our trips to Jaxx festivals but I would recommend Scarborough Jazz festival if you fancy a gentle weekend.

Rufus what a brilliant pianist!
Dad's style was more like Fats Waller. But his main skill was he could play "by ear".
My piano playing was very amateurish and I needed the music in front of me. So youtube is my saviour.

I love Fats Waller and often play Fats Domino - Walking To New Orleans

Please note how Ms Feoranzo wears a chef's hat,

Is that a paper flower at the left of the hat?

Try this - modern jazz but laid back.

Sadly Esbjorn is no longer with us as he died a few years ago in a diving accident.

Grappelli? Here he is with Michel Legrand, one of France's most important musicians since WW2. A superb piece of musical excellence.

You lucky devil Annie! I can't think of one piece he ever played that had a bum note in it. Probably thanks, in part, to you keeping him well oiled!

I've no time for Modern Jazz but love Trad Jazz. Stefan Grappelli was a genius.
