Is my 4½ years old granddaughter a genius in the making having taught herself, by incessant questioning, how to tell the time and being able to convert the 24hr clock? For example, 15.45 is quarter to 4!grin So proud!!!!

Grandmabatty Wed 30-Jun-21 19:53:26

Welcome Mae. We are a nice bunch if I say so myself ☺️. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

God morning everyone, not sunny or warm here, and we have GDs school concert outside this evening. There is no plan B, so will be huddled under blankets, and possibly umbrellas, come what may. I have made a walnut cake and sausage rolls for the picnic, plus bought far too much food, hope they are hungry!

What unhappy days we are having, losing loved ones and their loved ones, plus worries over health, my love and prayers to all for the strength and support to get through this.

So very sorry to hear the news about Grandmajet and Mr. Panache, my condolences to the families.

Blossoming Wed 30-Jun-21 09:55:54

Today’s plan is laundry as the weather is set fair. Have as good a day as you can ?

Blossoming Wed 30-Jun-21 09:54:35

Good morning all from sunny Lancashire. We have had such a busy few days. The refuse tip has re-opened fully, so Mr. B has now made 5 trips with rubbish that isn’t fit for recycling. Yesterday we were able to visit our niece and G. Nephew. We also dropped off several plant pots that won’t be used following the garden reorganisation. Our GN has been accepted to study horticulture, he is growing into a fine young man. I haven’t seen any of my nieces and nephews since December 2019. We keep in touch online, but it’s not the same, is it?

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest Lancashire coast. Even though I didn’t know Grandmajet personally, I thought about her a lot yesterday. It seems so strange that one of us commenting on our day to day doings, just disappears. It brought “Intimations of Mortality”.
Off for coffee soon with good friend, then I will pick up my new contact lenses at last. It has been an age, maybe due to Brexit. Using up old lenses hasn’t been satisfactory. I ‘lead’ with my left eye and if I mix them up it’s strange. I use my specs mainly but as things hopefully are opening up,will be wearing them more often.
Watched a documentary on Ernest Hemingway night. Interesting man, but all the big game shooting and bull fighting is hard to stomach.
I miss EV very much, her sayings “a rat at a fair” and her menus for the day.
Hope your health is ok Ashcombe.
Thoughts to anyone with worries.

Good morning all,

It's a rather grey and breezy start to the day here in South Yorkshire but is forecast to brighten up and warm up a bit, later on. My plan is to cut the grass, though right now, I haven't the motivation to do it - hope my "mo-jo" comes back.

Glad I did the laundry yesterday as it turned into a very pleasant day weather wise, and the washing dried without any problem.

Ashcombe, I hope that after a bit of relaxation, your BP reading will be lower - as other posters say, anxiety about it can make it rise. (Our minds are strange things at times).

Muse, hope your leg soon feels better. Resting today is very wise.

There are some lovely photos again today, and the ones of Llangollen are very pretty - it's a beautiful area isn't it? DH and I have been a few times.

Saddened to read this morning about Panache's DH. I send my condolences ?.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. Take care.

Good morning everyone from a dry overcast east Fife. Yesterday afternoon the sun came out and it was really hot. I just sat in the garden and had a lovely visit from my sister in law and my lovely neighbour sent her husband to deliver a delicious peach and cherry crumble which I had for supper with a touch of cream seeing as how my gall bladder has gently recovered I fair enjoyed it. Yesterday took me to see my consultant neurologist who has in agreement with me decided to remove the epilum I’ve been taking for many many years saying I’m not needing to take it any longer if I ever did .

Today’s a busy but nice day for me a zoom in the morning with a few auld friends wink followed very quickly by me and my carer making a tagliatelle for lunch, fingers crossed there’s to be no fainting this time.

My recent 24 hr EEG has recorded a fast heart beat the good news is Its recorded a good blood pressure reading. I’m NOT going to take any further medication which will reduce my blood pressure as it’s been found that’s the reason for my recent fainting must go here’s the carer have a good day everyone

Good morning Mick and all from slighty cooler, pleasant Lueneburg. A little sad thread this morning. I feel for all those who have got issues and sending them my best wishes. I loved the pictures, all different categories. Also, I have never seen nor eaten a tablet. Perhaps I could see a picture?
I was gardening and forgot about the football. When I came in for the last 15 minutes I was a bit gutted. Don`t jump into the fire if you don`t like the heat. I enjoyed the pleasure and happiness which resulted in Britain. We need some good news. Today a friend is coming for a coffee this morning. Later I shall go to the hardware store (I can`t remember how it`s called in England now). Llangollen brings back lovely memories to me. My husband is (was) welsh. Have a good day all .

Good morning Mick and everyone from a sunny warm Carlisle.
Yesterday was busy with lawn care, then having my final blind fitted in my sitting room. I was pleased to find it did look really good, so hard to picture the whole thing from a small patterned sample. Then I was delighted to watch Mark Cavendish back on form and winning the latest stage of the Tour. I think people were starting to write him off as too old. A good sporting day on several fronts.
Today it's shortly off to the new hairdressers. I haven't had a new one in over 40 years.
I hope you have a better day, Ashcombe. Keeping well watered is good advice especially in the warmer weather.
And the best possible day to all.

Grandmajean Wed 30-Jun-21 08:49:44

Good morning all. I couldn't stop thinking about Grandmajet all day yesterday. Life is precious. She was very upbeat and we all hoped she would come through the surgery in better health. So sad.
Hope your leg improves , Muse
Ash - your blood pressure could be staying high because you are stressed over it. Been there. I never get mine taken at the surgery as it is sky high even when I think I am relaxed. The brain is a strange organ.
I haven't read all the posts yet but have noticed some lovely pictures which I will study later.
The best day possible to all .

Good morning all from the Black country. Weather overcast hope it brightens up like yesterday afternoon.
Will read through after breakfast not much else planned for today.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire. It’s a little overcast but I’m hopeful that we’ll have another sunny day.

So sad to hear Panache has lost her beloved husband.

Your allotment sounds like heaven Alezarin.

Photos of egg vending machine for Gingster. I bet you had visions of single eggs dropping down a shute to be caught deftly by the customer. grin
Sadly it’s much more mundane.

Your hare from the other day is fabulous Gelisajam.

Sending you healing vibes Ashcombe and Muse, I hope today brings an improvement.

Enjoy your garden party Marydoll.

DH suffers dreadfully from hay fever so likes to sit in the shade but our parasol had to be consigned to the tip after many years of service so yesterday we drove to the nearest Homebase where we had checked they had plenty in stock. Having decided on a parasol I suggested that we would require the base to go with it. Not at all says he, the one we have will be fine. Once home he realised that of course it didn’t fit so half an hour of cutting bits off and much cursing ensued before he gave in and agreed that we should have bought the base. Guess what we’re doing today? I’ll go with him and get some food shopping while we’re out. It’ll be a change of supermarket.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 30-Jun-21 08:43:58

Good morning. Sorry I disappeared. IT issues. I kept up to date with the posts. Could have posted last night but read the sad news of the loss of an obviously dear contributor and did not feel appropriate. My condolences to her family and all of you who knew her.
Ddog in kennels. Miss him like fury.

BlueSapphire Wed 30-Jun-21 08:41:11

Good morning everyone from a dull grey Northampton, although a glimpse of the sun is promised later.

Got a bit wet on the health walk yesterday, so we cut it short and retired to the cafe early for a warming drink.

I have another walk this afternoon, as our book club is meeting for the first time since February last year. A good 40 minute walk each way to our meeting place. It will be good to discuss a book in person rather than by email.

Just the Sainsbury's order to complete today and a bit of tidying up before I venture out after lunch.

Thinking of those coping with sadness, and good wishes to all GNs.

Anniebach Wed 30-Jun-21 08:39:17

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Sar53 Wed 30-Jun-21 08:36:24

Good morning from another dreary, damp and thoroughly depressing day in Essex by the sea.
I have no plans today except making a Shephards Pie for when DH returns from his few days away later this evening. They have to moor up with the tide so here's hoping they don't miss it.
Lots of sadness on Gransnet in the last few days, my thoughts are with the families concerned.
I'm glad you enjoyed the book Gingster.
Have the best Wednesday you can and try and find a smile xx

Alygran Wed 30-Jun-21 08:36:08

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s warm but cloudy so far. Yesterday was lovely and sunny.
Two lovely memories from the thread today. I visited Bala as a student and again with my family when the girls were quite little. DH and I went to Urquhart Castle in 2017.
Bed stripped and washing on, some shopping to do (DD2 arrives tomorrow for a few days) and some admin.
Thoughts with those who are struggling.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Gelisajams Wed 30-Jun-21 08:31:06

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it’s sunny with a few clouds.
?today for Muse and Ashcombe hope things improve quickly.
A busy day for me today as we are off on our travels again tomorrow. We are giving the campa a well deserved rest and taking our car to a cottage in Ilfacombe. The downside is we are taking DS2 who has ASD. I’ll need a holiday after 10 days with him! He’s hard work at times.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Susan56 Wed 30-Jun-21 08:28:04

Grandmabatty, we are exhausted some days looking after the little ones but like you say days to treasure?
DGD is at school now and busy with clubs and play dates. We are looking forward to having some time with her in the school holidays.
