As everything starts to re-open, I am wondering if people are starting to look in the MEET-UP thread on Gransnet to see if someone in their area is arranging something.

I am concerned at the number of posters on different forums saying how hard they are finding it, feeling lonely, etc.
Meeting with people in real life is one of the best types of medicine.

A few of us in North Somerset (along with some in other areas), are now organising our first lunch meet-up since February 2020. Very exciting. But I feel that we are missing out people who may have joined GN over the past 18 months and do not know about this great MEET-UP Thread. So,hope people are looking into this, and joining in with people in their local areas.

I have just put a plug for my local meetup on. Colchester has outgrown Gransnet alone and is a meetup group is its own right.

Thanks for the nudge Franbern. I too hope to be able to get to a Wanstead meetup some time.

I've asked if anyone would like to meet up in Oxford, but not had any response so far. Fingers crossed. smile

I don't think I'll be flying over to the UK in the foreseeable. Will still keep an eye out for meet ups in the Cambridge area all the same.

I hope that we can revive the Wokingham /Crowthorne meet ups soon. We mainly live in the Wokingham/Bracknell area but we could meet in Reading if that suited people better.

Where is the Meet-up forum? I did reply to someone saying they were in Wellinborough, but never heard anything back.

Hi . We had a Meetup in Wanstead and it was so nice to see people! Our next one is 22nd July. What I like is that it's so informal and there's no commitment so you can rush off if you have to.

And we cover all sorts of topics.

Oxford I've now received two replies for a meet up in Oxford. We are thinking of mid August onwards. Are there any others who will be able to come?

I am a possibility*Aldom*. I live in Berkshire but have been to several meet ups in the restaurant of the Ashmoleon museum in the past. For me it will depend on how I feel about travelling by bus at the time. Also I would not be able to come until September as we have grandchildren living with us so perhaps you should put me down for the meeting after next.

Greenfinch I've sent you a PM.

Thanks Aldom. I have replied.

Oh Greenfinch if only…….I think I’m stuck in Portugal for the foreseeable future. It just seems stupid to even consider airports and flying when there is no real need let alone the legality of travel at the moment. However it is good to see you posting, I hope both you and family are well, the children must be into their teens by now.
If you manage to get to a meet-up then toast me in coffee or whatever and best wishes to you all. sunshine

Hi dustyangel I keep hoping we will be able to meet up sometime but I do understand your feelings about airports etc. We are OK and yes the twins are now 14
I remember well our meet ups in Reading and Camberley and will think of you if I get to another one.
