Diana’s statue

I think its awful. Doesn't capture Diana's beauty or her magnetism. Makes her thick waisted and hard-faced. Such a shame that it hasn't been done better and I'm surprised the Dukes okayed it. Maybe they had to as money had already been spent but if I was Diana looking down at this I'd have been disappointed.

It could be a distortion of the picture I saw, thought the face looks very mannish, chin too pointy, and very long arms.

We were both disappointed when we saw it on TV last night.
I did say that the face was that of a young man.

A little out of proportion I think, the children in it are just random children depicting she loved all children,nothing to do with the Princes, but they commissioned it and are happy, thats the main thing.

I actually like it. It took me back many years. The outfit looks familiar to me The artist captured a moment in time. They were boys when she was taken....her boys. That is how she referred to them. They worked with the artist on this. Diana's boys are happy with it. It really does not matter what anyone else thinks. It is wonderful....

Really disappointed with the statue, I don’t think it portrays her elegance and beauty. I don’t think she would have been flattered by it either!

No I do not like it... lots of things odd/wrong. Why three random children? Her figure is not right, legs not right. No beauty in the face. Clothes peculiar for such a fashion conscious woman. The head of the small girl seems too small.

Diana was extremely warm, elegant and graceful (thanks partly to her early ballet training) and I don’t think this statue captures that at all. TBH my first thought when I saw it was that it was like one of those Soviet sculptures of a hearty, stout patriotic Soviet worker/mother so beloved of the Stalin era and littered throughout what was USSR.
I like the idea though of her with the three children who look fine, just wish that her essence, as the central figure, had been captured better.

I'm bothered by the kid at the back, the one you can hardly see and is apparently being ignored by Diana. What does he or she represent?

I also first thought "Fiona Bruce" ! Bronze staues are notoriously difficult to get a true likeness with.we have one of Fred Dibnah in Bolton that looks like Harry worth in a flat cap (remember him?) We all remember Diana as a living vibrant shining young woman so anything that presents her as solid cold and static will disappoint. if the princes are happy then that's what's important it's in their private garden and really not meant for public ogling unless you pay to enter the palace then again to view it, sad really. I think that other statues could be appointed In the open park where she was often seen and maybe at hospices/hospitals she opened so a wider public could view her and remember her , for everyone not just the well off few(again)

I like the idea of a statue to remember her by, but Im not overly impressed with this one. I don't think the proportions are right, and the girl child has a face with features more those of a 40 year old woman.

My first reaction was one of disappointment. One child seems to be ignored behind her. I would have liked to see her as that young girl in the floaty skirt carrying the child at Young England when she worked there. But it’s not our business and hopefully it will be there for a long long time. A memory for her boys and a tribute to a great but troubled young woman

Bloody dreadful, but then I couldn't stand the woman anyway.

When women have, as a very perceptive headmaster said of my wife when she was a dinner lady, a “crinoline of small children” around them, they always glow and have a warm feeling on their faces. There is absolutely nothing of that in the dour visage in all the photos I have seen of this grey, lifeless blob.

I was quite shocked, and do not think it is like her at all. Sad to say I feel it makes her look rather masculine.

As you said, if her sons are happy with it... that's all that matters

To me it looks like a woman who was much older than the Princess of Wales lived to be.

She also bears absolutely no resemblence to the Diana I remember and looks quite incredibly grumpy.

We know now that she had plenty of reason to be grumpy, but usually on her public appearances she looked happy to be whereeer she was, except on one famous occasion when she was with her husband.

Had I commissioned this statue, I would simply have refused to take delivery of it, as to me it bears no resemblence to the elegant, nervous young woman we knew.

Not that good. Clothes not her. What was with the KISSING ON THE CHEEKS of aunties? We are not supposed to do that!!!

No , really sad to say , I don’t like it , children are sweet but is that another child behind her ?
As others say clothes are horrible as she was so stylish . Don’t ever remember a vile thick belt as her trademark !

Hi everyone not what I expected not at all dainty like she was
thought it would be bronze not dismal ,are we allowed in the garden or is it a private garden in Kensington palace ,if so doesn’t muc( matter to us mere mortals won’t ever be able to see it anyway.hope the boys can sort there differences out for there mother’s sake she would be so sad at there situation.

It's better than that hideous Mary Wollstonecraft statue. As long as her sons like it.

It definitely wasn't based on her Sloane ranger days. Instead it was strongly influenced by a photo of Princess Diana taken with her two young sons. It shows her wearing a very similar style shirt - collared with pin tuck detail, chunky belt and straight skirt. Her workday "uniform".

Disappointing and uninspiring.
