As a teenager I loved her writing and this song always got to me- All Over the World www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2OQzk8SQW4
She is now suffering and in pain and wants the right to end her life with dignity when she can stand no more. I think she should be allowed to go in peace. Her statement about it is very moving www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jun/17/francoise-hardy-argues-for-assisted-suicide
Hardy released her last album, Personne d’autre, in 2018. Promoting the album, she told the Observer that it addressed “death in a very symbolic and even positive way. There is an acceptance there, too. For instance, there is a song called Special Train, which I like very much, but at my age, I can really only sing about that one very special train that will take me out of this world. But, of course, I am also hoping that it will send me to the stars and help me discover the mystery of the cosmos.”

Very sorry to read this. When everyone was walking around clutching their Bob Dylan LPs, I was holding her first album. Back in 1967 I taught someone who claimed to be her cousin. I enjoyed her autobiography, Le Désespoir des Singes.

Oh, how sad. When I was first doing French at my grammar school, back in 1969/1970, our French teacher talked about her.

Her ‘Tous Les Garçons et Les Filles’’ is a lovely song, and the video accompanying it shows how beautiful and just so ‘French’ she was, absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, I loved her songs & still play and sing along to them in the car.
Very sorry to read of her illness.

One of the important figures of my youth – so long ago. Vas en paix ma belle.

Sad to hear about this. Back in the ‘60s I wanted to look like her, she was absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for posting I did wonder if I was the only one around who remembered and loved her. So many people seem to say "Who?" if I mention her. Bonjour tristesse.

Thanks Trisher.

I have some of her songs on CD (yes I know!) and loved her in the 60s when a German friend introduced me to her music. So sad to hear this.

So sorry to read this. I loved her songs. "The Special Train" brought tears to my eyes.

So sad, such a beautiful elegant talented lady.

Oh, that’s so sad. I loved Francoise Hardy and because I used to sing Tous Les Garçons so often I can remember all the words. Quelle tristesse!

All Over The World was a great song.
I bought one of Francoise albums recently and love all the songs. I must buy some more. Haven't heard The Special Train.

Have read the statement. I am so sorry to hear this. It's very sad that when you feel life has nothing more to offer except enduring increasing pain that you can do nothing to end it. I hope that her suffering is at an end soon.

I have never heard of her, but this thread made me
listen to some of her music, her voice is beautiful, and so is she.

How lovely rafichagan so pleased someone has found her.
Thanks everyone I don't feel quite such an oddity now.
It is so sad. We can only hope the release she hopes for comes soon.

Thank you for this, Trisher. Here I am lying in the wee small hours listening to FH. Magic. Such nostalgia. I am so grateful.

I was doing the same.

I loved her songs, too. Remember going to see her in the film Grand Prix, she was so beautiful.

How very sad. I loved her music back in the 60s, and bought an album, and recently a CD.
