I ate a whole pack of jelly cubes ?

We will be babysitting Gdcs all afternoon, so I bought 2 packs of jelly cubes, thinking the two elder (6 and nearly 5) might enjoy making a jelly.

Last night I remembered that dd’s fridge is invariably stuffed so full, there wouldn’t be any space to put it to set.
So I ate the raspberry one. (Alas there were no packs of black currant.)
I’m saving the strawberry one for another ‘I fancy something nice’ moment.

I know they say that eating one such cube a day is supposed to be good for your nails, but how anyone could eat just one, I will never understand.

I eat just one square of good quality dark chocolate a day, it’s supposed to be good for you. I enjoy it and couldn’t possibly eat anymore than that. Good job too!

You will be bunged up to the eyeballs!

I’ll have the strawberry one…..to save you from yourself ?. Love jelly.

I think I would wobble even more if I ate jelly cubes - they are tasty though - Hmmm!

Reminds me of when I was a child and we had sweets once a week when mum went shopping. In between she would sometimes let us have a tablet of jelly cubes to eat which we loved.

Jelly cubes, yum!

I ate a packet of foam lobsters last night all to myself, as I’m home alone this weekend. I’d bought them for my little GD (her parents allow her this treat) but she couldn’t come and visit as she’s a close Covid contact and is isolating. ? I’ve got a fridge full of food for them which I’m having to eat myself but the lobsters seemed the most important item to eat. grin

GS2 is a fussy eater but does like orange jelly cubes.

I’ve been using the glass pudding pots from ready made creme caramel to make little trifles and jellies, thinking it a good way to keep portions small. It seems GS1 and grandad have been eating two or three at a time! Back to the drawing board!

I can easily eat a packet of jelly cubes, just as well I don't buy them often. If they are in the cupboard and I fancy something sweet I can't resist them. Fortunately (or unfortunately, maybe) OH doesn't like the cubes so I have to finish them myself. Any flavour will do except strawberry.

Haha haven't done that for years. DDs often make floppy jelly for parties and messy play and use as sea or grass for games for the littlies .

Kamiso I tried doing that as well, to cut our lockdown chocolate habit in the evening ?

We have lots of those little pots so I tried making a variety of jelly/fruit, pretend trifles, custards, etc. We'd end up having one of each - which was very nice but not the point of the exercise ?

I used to love the chewyness of jelly cubes but haven't had any since the early 70s.

If you are an omnivore, my feeling is that it's right to use up all the bits of the animal, including offal, but now I'm vegetarian I won't eat jelly cubes.

Animal skins, bones, chicken feet and connective tissues etc just don't appeal to me!

Oooh. I love jelly in any form. I wolfed a whole bag of jelly babies last week in secret. I'm not keen on knowing it derives from boiled bones though.

I suspect that was probably the object of the exercise Rowantree!

Haha?
That’s the problem with ‘fun sized’ things....they just aren’t much fun.

witzend if that’s the worst thing you ever do, wolfing down jelly cubes then you are guaranteed a place in Heaven ?
I have a more serious Malteser habit.?

Witzend Sun 04-Jul-21 09:31:27

lemongrove, Maltesers don’t last long when I’m anywhere near! Just as well they’re usually confined to twice a year - a big box from dh at Christmas and on my birthday.

lemongrove Sun 04-Jul-21 09:42:59

grin Very wise, because once that box is opened.....!

Aldom Sun 04-Jul-21 09:51:57

*It's a long, long time since I ate jelly in any form. But... I recently bought two bars of dark chocolate to give to a neighbour, in return for a favour. Whoops... I've eaten them!! grin

When I was a young child I was told by my mother that eating jelly cubes would give you worms. I should point out that sweets were still on ration at the time, and jelly for parties hard to get hold of. Well it did serve as a deterrent.

timetogo2016 Sun 04-Jul-21 17:17:10

I have noticed the jelly blocks have gone a whole lot smaller.
Unlike the cost.
