Evening hope everyone is and enjoying the sunshine. I heard today that my friends funeral is Tuesday next week. It will be a very sad day but in some respects it will be lovely to see my friends.
House is looking more tidy after the move and getting things in their places.
My son is coming to visit tonight and has laser eye surgery tomorrow.
I’ve made steak & ale pie for dinner ?

Grandmabatty Tue 13-Jul-21 18:08:19

Soop thank you for the honourable mention ?. I'm glad Mac is okay. Mattsmum1 I love steak and ale pie! It is one of my favourite dishes. I'm having lemon sole, peas and chips followed by a scone with clotted cream and jam. And then I may fall asleep! The heat here has been quite intense for central Scotland. Upward of 24°. Dgs played out for a while then we walked to speak to a neighbour then I took him inside. He's off home and the chips are in the oven. I'm having a glass of something cold and fizzy. Have a good evening all.

Hellogirl1 Tue 13-Jul-21 18:18:14

Glad to see you back safe and sound Soop. Enjoy your evening x

Jaxjacky Tue 13-Jul-21 18:28:11

Hello all, good news for Mrsoop. And muse you’ve resumed, for now sedate, yomping.
Some things are a bit disappointing, friends were supposed to come for a late lunch Sunday, to cut a long story they don’t communicate with each other and had double booked. So the set table was cleared away, dessert frozen. My Monday voluntary work we use an excel spreadsheet to update who’s giving lifts to whom, due to an update I can’t use it anymore on my iPad without paying. So I’m looking for a slightly different way to volunteer.
But, good news, Imogen’s burn is healing well, 10 days difference in a youngster, pictures. She went back t9 school Monday with a skip in her step, DD got a call back from GP’s receptionist today, DD knows Finley has an ear infection, but she mentioned he has a runny nose…PCR test, isolate until negative result and no antibiotics until it’s back. Reading from a script, no initiative.
Yia it’s going to be a chore, but should leave you spanking new. I’ll bid you all a gentle evening.

gillgran Tue 13-Jul-21 20:01:29

Thank you soop, & others for kind messages, after my DGD's positive covid tests.
She's still feeling poorly & her temperature is high. It makes it difficult as she has special needs & doesn't really understand.

The rest of DS's family are already really fed up with the enforced self isolation, they do have a small garden, but, although very inconvenient for DS & DiL, their 15 DS& 18 DD year old are finding it so difficult, their lives completely up-side-down.!
They are counting the days!!

Jaxjacky, your DGD's burn is looking much improved, how well the young heal. I hope Finley is soon OK.

Hope the evening goes smoothly for you all. x

Jaxjacky Tue 13-Jul-21 20:14:34

Horrid situation gillgran I hope your poorly DGD recovers quickly, so confusing for her and that the rest of the family stay well and survive the tedium.

Nannytopsy Tue 13-Jul-21 20:59:35

Evening! That sounds like a very healing time Panache.
An early start this morning had us both snoozing this afternoon! I was bitten several times by mosquitoes on Saturday and today the most troublesome one has gone hot, swollen and red and has spread by several inches. Guess who is off to the doctor tomorrow?!

Blossoming Tue 13-Jul-21 21:44:26

Good evening Kitcheners, I am feeling much better today, thank you all. I have loaded and unloaded the washing machine but Mr. B has done the ‘hanging our and bringing in’ bit. He’s also done the weekly shop, so I have been quite lazy! I have to admit my arm is hurting, but no more dizziness or fuzzy head. Glad you’re feeling better muse. Happy birthday Chicken, hope you had a good day. I’m so glad you’ve found some comfort today Panache, those are good friends flowers

chicken Tue 13-Jul-21 21:55:51

A big thankyou for all your lovely birthday greetings, they are so much appreciated. It's been a good day___flowers, phone calls texts.

Jaxjacky,. wow, that burn is healing so quickly and so well.

gillgran,. I hope your DGD soon starts to feel better. So difficult for her family.

Nannytopsy, you must be tasty to mosquitos, just as I am. I had a recent bite right on the point of my elbow which swelled up and went fiery red and painful. Let us know what the doctor says about yours.

soop, glad to hear that things are going well for MrSoop. That must be a relief.

Mattsmum best wishes to your son for tomorrow's eye surgery.

Hair cut tomorrow. I'll get her to cut it shorter as it looks as if we're due for some hot weather and I can't bear hair on the back of my neck when it's hot and humid.

Hellogirl1 Tue 13-Jul-21 22:54:47

Jaxjacky, that`s healed well!

cornergran Tue 13-Jul-21 23:33:35

A late but warm happy birthday chicken. Pleased you’ve enjoyed it.

Goodness, that did look sore jax, Imogen is a brave little soul.

Sounds as if things are going well for Mr Soop, relief all round soop. Pleased you’re both home safe.

A hug and flowers for you hellogirl. I’m pleased there are people close by to care for you panache, look after yourself now.

Good luck to your son for tomorrow mattsmum, pleased you feel better blossoming, don’t overdo things now.

It’s been a busy kitchen as ever, I’ll not have remembered everyone so my apologies for leaving folk out.

We had a chatty, catch up lunch with a friend on Monday. 18 months has been far too long. An overnight stay permitted us to re-visit Lacock this morning, a pretty NT village it has starred in many a period drama. Nine years since we were there the Abbey formal gardens look so different, allowed to just grow rather than be manicured into, perfection, we very much enjoyed being there. If the system allows I’ll attach a couple of photos of the village Church and one of a colourful front garden. I’ve always thought living in an NT village must be rather like living in a real life film set, certainly the audience is there. We plan another trip on Thursday, No idea where just now, we may know by Thursday grin.

Sleep well everyone.

soop Wed 14-Jul-21 17:13:01

Good afternoon to all our kitcheners.

The photo of Imogen's scald is looking very much improved. Keep on healing, Imogen. You are doing famously.

corner Many years ago we visited Lacock. It is chocolate-box picturesque. One of our albums contains several photos so like yours.

gillgran We are hoping for better news of your granddaughter. The waiting is very stressful.
Our eleven month old great grandson will be in hospital and being prepared for the heart surgery scheduled for tomorrow. His mummy and daddy are with him.

Blossoming If your dizzy/fuzziness returns, haste ye to the GP. That's an order.

Nannytopsy That's a wise plan. Best get the bite looked at.

Mattsmum Good wishes to your son for successful laser eye surgery. A friend of ours has had both eyes treated. She is totally happy with the result.
Please may Grandmaatty* and I help to polish off the steak and ale pie? We are both great fans of that particular dish.

chicken You deserved your extra special birthday.

For my sins, I've been bagging clothing (unused in the main) in readiness for a visit to the Red Cross shop and the Salvation Army. Note to self...no more purchases unless to replace Sloggi pants. I do no need any more garments. hmm. I mean it!

Fern aka "Sweetie Pie" called for breakfast. She continues to lose weight. However, she ate three meals in the space of twenty minutes. A whole tin of tuna (laced with worming granules) and two pouches of Sheba's gourmet fish dishes, complete with a sprinkling of Purina cat biscuits. Mr Soop commented...she prefers the food served in her usual dish, rather than a new fangled double dish that a friend kindly donated. I ask you. wink

soop Wed 14-Jul-21 17:14:51

I shall return tomorrow. My thoughts are with all of you who need comforting. I know exactly how you are feeling. flowers smile [sleep]

Grandmabatty Wed 14-Jul-21 17:31:29

I hope fern is ok Soop and the worming medicine does the trick. I visited mum this morning and she was pleasant. That's not always the case! Then I visited my friend and her partner for coffee and carrot cake. This afternoon I've hoovered and washed the floors but it's too hot to sit out. Tomorrow has to be even hotter so I'll get up and do stuff in the morning. Beef brisket in sour dough rolls for dinner, then mango sorbet and berries. Have a good evening all.

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Jul-21 19:19:28

Hi all, soop I’m sure your grandson will be fine, but understand you will be awaiting news ? Finley has had a negative PCR, all back to school tomorrow and antibees for his ears. I had a lovely lunch in the sun at our good friends house with another mutual friend, the sun was hot. The flowers picture were for my friend, dopey here left them on our kitchen table, I’ve arranged delivery of a similar bunch for her. So kitcheners, you can share them this bonny evening which I hope you are all enjoying.
Garden watered, MrJ cooking, all is good, take care, you are all important x

Grandmabatty Wed 14-Jul-21 19:30:40

That painting is lovely JaxJacky. Did you do it yourself? I am in awe

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Jul-21 20:03:19

Gosh no Grandmabatty, my artistic skills are non existent I’m afraid, bought from Etsy to remind us of our summers in the Dordogne.

chicken Wed 14-Jul-21 21:13:55

soop, all good wishes for your Ggs' surgery tomorrow We'll all be thinking of him.

Grandmabatty, I'm with you about finding it too hot to work after the early morning. I've got a swing seat in a shady part of the garden and retreat there with a fan and a good book when the temperature goes up.

Jaxjacky, fancy leaving those lovely sunflowers behind. Still, it's a bonus for you!

Not a good day today. I had to take Mr Rooster for a blood test at the surgery in the next village. That was fine but on getting back in the car, found that it wouldn't start. Panic. I had a hair appointment in another town in an hour and my hairdresser is off on holiday at the end of the week. I dashed on foot to the local garage where they agreed to pick the car up "when they had time", so I called a taxi, got us both home then continued on to the hairdressers__just made it.Then another cab home, and later, yet another taxi back to the garage to pick up the car. They couldn't find anything obviously wrong, so I hope it isn't going to be one of those intermittent faults. The taxis cost a fortune but there wasn't any other option.

In the meantime, the security firm were putting up steel mesh security fencing all round the burnt mansion next door to keep the local teenagers from larking about in the ruins which, apparently, can collapse at any minute. The fence has had to cover some of our parking area which is a nuisance, but the worst thing about it is that it is so ugly and it's right in full view of most of our windows.UGH.

Grandmabatty Wed 14-Jul-21 21:29:24

Chicken a difficult day for you! I hope your car is okay and was just suffering from the heat!

annodomini Wed 14-Jul-21 21:49:29

gillgran, I hope your DGD is now on the way to recovery. I know how you must be feeling. I've been worried about mine - as mentioned up-thread - who has left her phone off and not answered my voice-mail. She was beginning to recover when I spoke to her at the weekend, wanted to eat, but not looking forward to it as she can't taste anything. I wish I wasn't 150 miles away but there wouldn't be much I could do if I was closer. Today I noticed that Covid tests were again being done just down the road from me so I drove in and had a PCR test as I have realised that being double vaxed doesn't make you immune - like poor DGD!
A lovely hot day here with a nicely cooling breeze. Lunch with my friend whose post-chemo hair is growing back and looks like a silver cap!
Today's good news: youngest DGS (13) got an attainment award for Ethics and Morality in Y8. Perhaps he will turn out to be a philosopher. hmm His big brother awaits results to find out if the 6th form will accept him and for what subjects.
Time for a brew and moon TOYA

muse Wed 14-Jul-21 22:02:19

gillgran. Hope your DGD is improving and there's not too many isolation days left.

Jax Pleased about Finlay's result and hope the antibees work quickly. Imogen's young skin is healing really well.

Like the sound of that dinner grandmabatty.

chicken. Hopefully work will start soon on the burnt mansion. Diagnostics on cars these days seem to take for ever to find the fault. It should make it easier. It's nerve racking driving and keeping fingers crossed that nothing happens.

Quiet day on the muse front line. I managed to weed 3/4 of the polytunnel. Didn't really fancy feel my calf could cope with more mowing today. I must have lost at least a stone whilst in the polytunnel I wish.

Long chat with DD. She is at rock bottom emotionally at the moment. Work, daughter and change worries/problems. Put it all together and it's one big ball of stress. It hurts to hear her cry over the phone. We'll keep chatting over the next week. GD has gone to stay with her father.

muse Wed 14-Jul-21 22:06:56

annodomini . I've just had my free supply of 7 covid-19 rapid lateral flow home test kits. Gov.Uk site. You can re-order as you need them.

Blossoming Wed 14-Jul-21 22:47:47

Good evening all, I have been very well behaved today. I did the laundry with minimal bending and lifting, perfect drying day, sun forecast for the rest of the week so Mr. B is taking me out tomorrow.

Soop the ‘dizzy’ episodes are a legacy of the brain injury. They announce their arrival with an aura and they usually happen when I’m overtired. They have been investigated to make sure nothing sinister is going on. I either missed or ignored the signs of this one. I should have rested at the weekend but the end of the Grand Wardrobe Purge was in sight, so I pushed on and paid the price.

Stay safe all x

annodomini Wed 14-Jul-21 22:49:29

Thanks, muse. I have a pack of lateral flow tests and have used two of them already. I picked them up at the Tesco pharmacy. I decided to have the PCR test today, largely because it was available and our local practice had urged us to take up the offer, and I expect it to confirm what the lateral flow tests have shown.I'm sorry to hear of your DD's distress. She's fortunate to have a listening mum. I don't have a daughter and sons (well, mine) don't tell me all their troubles. Tables are gradually turning.

Hellogirl1 Wed 14-Jul-21 23:12:35

Soop, I`ll bbe thinking of your great grandson (and you) tomorrow.
