I’m certainly extremely sceptical about these, and would never order from such companies.

I know from experience how very good inferior clothes can be made to look. Many, many years ago, when dh and I were living in Cyprus (and I was a small size 10!) I had the occasional job (a fiver a day when we were stony broke) modelling for a commercial photographer.

One such job was shots for a clothing catalogue.
The clothes were pretty cheap, nothing really wrong with them, but I was stunned to see how amazing they looked in the photos.
One I particularly remember was shot on a green area in front of the Nicosia Hilton - me in a in dreamily-drifting short of shot, in a long evening dress that in the photo looked gorgeous and expensively glamorous.
In reality it was cheap material, pinned all up the back to make it fit me!

The photographer was great fun and very clever in the effects he could create with all sort of makeshift props, for whatever it was the advertiser wanted. A couple of expat friends of mine also did it, and we always enjoyed the day, not to mention the fiver.

The same dress is on sale at Noracora - the reviews of that firm are much the same as Roselinlin.

Some interesting reviews of Roselinlin!

If you have to bear the cost of returning something to China, it could be an expensive shopping trip with nothing to show for it.

Check their returns policy too - and other people's experience of using it.

I have checked some of these out and I think you are right Purpledaffodil. They do look appealing but I would check reviews and contact details (not just Internet address) for any unknown company before ordering.

There are a lot of firms ( mostly Chinese, but not all) which show photographs of beautiful clothes - but when you order them, what arrives (eventually) are tatty copies in inferior fabric and bad workmanship. The photographs are of real garments sold by reputable companies, but what you get are just rip-offs. When a previous Gransnet thread mentioned this, I started checking reviews of them by searching for the name online. There are heaps of reports from unsatisfied customers. Put the name of the firm who are selling that dress into a search engine and see what people are saying about them.

I hardly notice any of the adverts.

Hardly an ad man dream!

Think you are right about those adverts. Several threads in the past!

A rather lovely dress has appeared on my screen. Am I correct in thinking these adverts are from Chinese companies which supply inferior products?
I often see beautiful clothes advertised, so much nicer than anything in the shops, but I resist the temptation. Am I missing out?
