Good Morning Everyone,
I have woken up to a wet morning here in Brackley this morning.
My day will be a small early shop , followed by a coffee etc, before settling down to watch the start of todays stage of the TdF which climbs Mont Ventoux twice , this is the climb which the late Tommy Simpson died on ,as there is memorial stone so far up .
Take Care,
Mick

Good afternoon from a very showery South Yorkshire. When it comes down, it certainly comes down - then the sun comes out again. I think it will continue like this for the rest of the day.

Late to the party as I got carried away with jobs this morning, cleaning out the downstairs toilet, including the tiles and floor, then cleaning and polishing the suite, which was in need of doing. All done now, so a more leisurely afternoon, I think.

Condolences to both Grannygravy and Scentia ?.

To all feeling sad, worried or unwell, I hope the remainder of this day brings you some peace and comfort.

Take care everyone.

Afternoon all from overcast Ashford Kent. Marydoll I was in Specsavers yday and this was above the desk! I took a pic to give to my DH. At least twice a week he tells (!) me to ‘stop mumbling’. My reply is always the same. “ Didn’t I train people in the need for clear communication for 25 years? “ He has hearing aids and doesn’t wear them, he really needs to have his ears’ hoovered’ but says why bother cause it only helps for a couple of days. MY quality of life is deteriorating as I am so frustrated having to repeat myself. At least he went back to work on Monday, seven weeks post-cholecystectomy. AIBU to feel annoyed that he hasn’t once said thank you for nursing him during this period? The first four weeks he wasn’t able to do very much as he developed an infected wound so I was doing all the household stuff which he had always insisted on doing. Our friend who took him to the hospital on the morning of his op ( at 05:30!) got flowers and chocolates sent to her two days later! I actually feel quite resentful. I did comment about being taken for granted about ten days ago, but didn’t get a response. I didn’t mind looking after him just the lack of thanks got to me.
Sending hugs to those that need them and good wishes to all!

Grandmafrench Wed 07-Jul-21 12:03:12

Nannagarra who cares how you use words? I had a fixation the other day with "lovely" which needed a bit of a slap!
You're still very funny however you write! Let's hope you remember all you've been taught when the big test comes this evening!!!!

muse glad you're feeling better. I skimmed through the late posts and honestly thought for a second that 'smoked fish' was possibly a colour. I know - what am I like? (No answers on a postcard, thanks.) Happy day to all. x

? just passing through, good morning from dark Anglesey, big black storm clouds all around.
Being summoned as car engine running, on our way to find a new jumper for Orlin, nothing purchased online so far has satisfied old fusspot.
Scentia flowers and GrannyGravy flowers

Good Morning Mick and all Morningsters. I see a little sun outside. I can turn the lights off now.

I've had my note book handy and made lots of notes. So glad others do this too. I suppose there was a day I had an excellent memory.

We had a visitor last night. He pinched our bedroom annexe. Work colleague / friend of MrM. He's off to check a hydro site out then back to pick MrM up to go sailing. Friend has a boat mored at Fowey (Cornish south coast), about 30 mins from us. Mya and myself would have gone but I'm not mobile enough at the moment. Next time. Friend is cooking dinner tonight and MrM always washes up so muse is smiling?. First chill day MrM's had for a long time.

My sympathies to Scentia and GrannyGravy13.

GrandMattie I'm sure Iris will love them.

Espee What amazing and surprising sightseeing experience!

Ashcombe BP does cause some so many problems. There seems to be no easy answer. I'm truly thankful my low BP doesn't hinder me too much.

Dwmxwg Pity about The Mill. There are were some excellent craft workshops there and an amazing cafe with delicious food. I must ask my bro where he is getting his bread flour from with the mill being closed. Have checked out the boots and will find somewhere to try them on. They go up to a 42 but my last pair of boots were 43. Although, I now live in beautiful Cornwall, I do miss Derbyshire. It's equally as beautiful.

Jax. That was a good night's sleep. Enjoy the football tonight.

Gingster Congratulations on 50 years. Glad DS1 found the album. I'd love to see a glimpse of you two on your wedding day.

GrandmaFrench I've gone for shades of grey in the new build. Slate floor, doors, skirting boards and window recesses. Final touch will be splashes of 'in your face' colours. Sofa and pieces of art or craft work for the walls. Love smoked fish. DD made us a smoked haddock soufflé tart last week - undyed of course. Excellent result with the Rheumatologist. So pleased for you.

I've read on another thread that Panache has friends calling round ?. She's in my thoughts as is Urm.

Calf and pain still linger but it will slowly go. Off for a walk after my coffee.

What everyone has planned, I hope all goes well. ? ?? ?

joyce6135 Wed 07-Jul-21 11:39:11

Morning all, had a bad night sleeping last night but hopefully can keep awake for footy tonight. Just wanted to say* Marydoll* how much I enjoy your posts, you have a great sense of humour, so keep entertaining us..
Have a happy and peaceful day everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lueneburg. My condolences to Scentia and grannyGrav. I am having an easy day today - Bridge Club this afternoon and football later. I am routing for England, I love the singing of the supporters. Marydoll thanks for your funny, entertaining and upbeat posts. They give such pleasure the same goes for grandmafrench and all of you. I am missing quite a few posters. I don`t always post but I always read. Have a pleasant day all.

gillgran Wed 07-Jul-21 11:09:55

Good Morning from a dry, but overcast Cambs., A wet night & more showers forecast for today.

My condolences to Scentia & to Grannygravy, we've had quite a few sad days on GN lately.
Also several of us have been feeling low, it's been a tough 16 months for us.
I think of you all, especially those with extra worries.
Take Care Marydoll & Auntieflo. we love to hear from you.
(sorry, sometimes I do get names muddled or wrong, or forget!)

Warm wishes to you all, flowers

Marydoll Wed 07-Jul-21 11:00:35

Gwen, I think your DH and I would get on well. ( Apart from the not listening) When I was teaching and IT Co-ordinator, I had boxes and boxes of cables and bits and bobs stashed away. The techies used to come from near and far to raid my stash. Saved a fortune! grin

My daughter bought me a No fog cloth from Boots, it was so useful I bought one for DH yesterday, when I picked up my prescriptions.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 07-Jul-21 10:46:54

Good Morning all from grey Harrogate. I have put a wash out, but suspect if left too long it could be a wash out!!
My condolences Scentiaflowers and Grannygravyflowers what a bad week for you.
Jaxjacky poor Imogen going through so much, hope she improves soon.
I'll try and get a bit more of the pinafore done before my friend comes round this pm for a cuppa.
My trip to the optician yesterday proved expensive (probably why I've put it off for so long). Apparently I've been using their 'no fog' wipes wrong!! Will see how they work right!!
Marydoll as I have mentioned before, your DH and mine seem to have a lot in common, mine only has a selective hearing problem, though. He will quite happily chuck my stuff out, while he hoards all sorts of useless items. He insists scart connections will be useful?? Must be 10 years when we last used them.

Have a great day, folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 07-Jul-21 10:45:23

Good morning and condolences from a reasonably dry yet grey Oxfordshire. Two Merry Maids ladies arrived this morning to give our house a deep clean. OH is going to buy a new mobile phone sometime today and he also needs one of those tablet dispenser things from Boots. I have a WI committee meeting early evening in the Chairman's garden or on zoom if it is raining. After that I will be listening to a zoom talk on London’s unusual street names. At some point OH will be making dinner - it is his turn. Then football. I will hide away and listen to a talk on Venice for a V&A course I’m doing. Someone is supposed to be popping round to talk about my garden but I haven’t heard back yet.

Nannagarra Wed 07-Jul-21 10:40:43

I realise I’ve used ‘excitement’ twice. To you, it’s evidence of my imperfections; if DH read it, I’d claim it was a typo. ???
Where’s the flipping edit button?

Grandmajean Wed 07-Jul-21 10:38:20

Thanks, Grandmafrench - Keeping a note is something I did think of and then wondered if I was being a dinosaur and there was an easier way. Think you are right - only way to remember

Nannagarra Wed 07-Jul-21 10:28:46

Good morning from the Sefton coast. For the last two days mornings have been cool and cloudy, afternoons warm and sunny. I’m hoping the pattern continues today.
My condolences to Scentia and GG13. It’s comforting that your DH spent the last 10 minutes of his father’s life with him, Scentia. ?
I hope the ECG goes well Ashcombe and that your BP comes down.
Oooh, a wallaby, Esspee. How amazing. That’s caught my attention and interest. Do post a pic if you get one.
Thinking of Imogen, Jaxjacky. Sending a gentle hug to all of you.
Your evening meal sounds really yummy, BlueSapphire. Do you like kedgeree too?
Marydoll, keep being you and doing what you do. You have a big fan club here ably managed by Chewy as your secretary. ?
My ‘education’ about the Euros continues: the latest lesson concerns quality players in Denmark’s team. (Yawning on the back row here with surreptitious glances at clothing websites.) Food for tonight done; beer to sort (not my department). Flag now deemed a jinx so won’t be displayed. My, what a kerfuffle. Just hope next door’s tv’s ‘aligned’ with ours as we had advanced warning of excitement in a previous match. I’m being carried along by the excitement!
Thinking of those who are absent and those facing troubles. May everyone’s day include a smile and the sighting of a flamingo.
???

Grandmafrench Wed 07-Jul-21 10:08:28

Good Morning all from Hot and Blue etc.,

So sorry to hear of your losses, GG and Scentia. And you're right to feel like that about your late Mum's carers, NannyT. Unforgiveable.

Do you have a history of BP problems in your family, Ash because if that's the case - and a big percentage of raised blood pressure is down to genetics - it can be a real battle to get the figures down. Hope you're not stressed about anything. Wishing you well.

Grey if the colour is to complement anything already there, like carpets or curtains, then choose the best colour for that. If not, the sky's the limit - that's probably the problem since there are endless different greys and it can be a nightmare!

Grandmajean how nice are you! I don't think any of us have a particular talent for memorising the posts. For myself, I keep a pen and paper handy otherwise I always forget someone I wanted to comment upon.

Love smoked haddock, Blue, but so difficult to find the un-dyed stuff here in France. Once after a successful purchase in a fish market, I asked the 'woman in wellies' what the name was in French. She'd walked away from the ticket, having weighed our fish. She walked back, looked at the back of the ticket and shouted to us " 'Addock, Madame". We did laugh.

Yesterday's Rheumatologist visit was a huge success - but exhausting. The town was filled with cars and tourists, behaving as if they were all on drugs for the very vague! It was a stifling 32 degrees without any breeze. Specialist was so nice and having been asked if he'd be able to do anything for my dodgy ankle said 'of course'. That's all I wanted to hear. For the Arthritis I have temporary pain relief, whilst I use his prescription to book a blood test, a Scanner appointment for dye injection etc., and then go back to see him with the results and his recommendation for a particular infusion necessary to calm the inflammation and give me 'months of relief' (His words!) Hurrah!!!!!

We went for a well-earned cuppa afterwards in a pavement café, where everyone was having such a good time, two waiters were dancing! They'd obviously picked up my mood!

So pleased Mr Harri can have his Chemo today. Have a good day, one and all if you can. My plan involves (before another trip out to tangle with the bureaucrats tomorrow), an early lunch, a swim, a read and a siesta.

Take care everyone, whatever you're up to. All good wishes sent from me and French France - and don't accept 2nd place tonight, please, ENGLAND !!!!!! ?

?????‍♀️???

Auntieflo Wed 07-Jul-21 09:56:09

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. At least it's not raining here today, yet! Yesterday was a real wash out, in between a few brief sunny spells. I was told the OT would visit yesterday, so we stayed in all day, not a problem, but she didn't even phone to say she wouldn't be able to make it.
Today I am off for a hair cut mid morning, and this afternoon, we have grab rails being fitted front and back. Arrival time again is estimated.
Marydoll, nice to hear you upbeat this morning. ?
Condolences to Scentia and GrannyGravy, sad times for you both.
I shall have to stop skip reading the posts, as I read that Espee was off to Bahamas!
Your stay in the New Forest sounds just what I could do with at the moment Grannygravy13, but with all the appointments recently I do wonder whether we could ever fit anything in.
Continuing beat wishes to Jaxjackys gd.
Forgive me if I miss anyone out.
Have a good day one and all.

Blossoming Wed 07-Jul-21 09:08:25

Good morning all from a warm but rain cloudy Lancashire. Mr. B is taking me out for the day, so I shall catch up on your posts later ?

EkwaNimitee Wed 07-Jul-21 09:07:05

Good morning, Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it was a brilliant blue sky when I got up but is now fast clouding over.
I too will be watching the Tour today-with especial interest since they are climbing Mt. Ventoux. The weather can certainly be extreme up there, I've been up there twice--not cycling though! Both times in a September, the first time it was boiling hot and the sun was glaring fiercely off the white granite summit. We stopped at the Tommy Simpson Memorial and I thought how unsurprising it was that someone should die exerting themselves in such conditions. The second time we went, totally the opposite--strong winds, heavy rain and freezing cold. I hope it's not too bad up there today for them.
I'm having my new tv delivered today, nicely in time for the rest of the Tour and Wimbledon. Apart from that, a little light housework and maybe some gardening.
My condolences to you, Scentia and to you, GrannyGravy , a sad time for you both and your families.
The best day possible to all.

Elizabeth1 Wed 07-Jul-21 09:04:38

Good morning everyone from a dribbly start to the day here on the east coast of Fife sorry about my previous post it wouldn’t let me preview it before I sent but it should have read hope the rota stays good not rotavirus duh ?
Sorry too * GG* for your recent loss thinking of you and love to all who feel so sad flowers
That’s me off to the dentist this morning I’m not worried about dentist appointments. I’m hoping it’s just a wee examination my photo posted in the first post was 4Gnt meeting up for a lunch for the first time pre stroke and pre Covid it’s funny to think we’re scattered all over the world now and still keep in touch.

Alygran Wed 07-Jul-21 08:57:13

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s bright this morning.
Condolences to Scientia and GG and their families.
Jax I hope Imogen continues to make progress.
I have a friend calling this morning then lunch out before a business meeting for my charity. It’s good to be busy again.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Good morning from another dull, damp day in Essex by the sea.
My condolences to Scentia and GG, and I'm sorry to hear of Imogen's diagnosis. I wish her well.
Not a lot on the cards today apart from a dental visit this afternoon. It's been 10 weeks since I had my deep clean and this is an appointment to see the results.
Looking forward to the football this evening.
Have the best Wednesday you can everyone xxx

cornergran Wed 07-Jul-21 08:46:59

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.

Overnight rain and wind have trashed our climbing rose, the gardeners are here grass cutting so good and bad in the garden department. X-ray for me this morning, lunch and a wander round Waitrose will deal with most of the day.

My condolences to Scentia and Grannygravy, please care for yourselves. You too marydoll, chronic pain depletes resilience, you’re fine just as you are.

Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is gentle with us all.

Anniebach Wed 07-Jul-21 08:45:59
