Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

Now if one of the RF turned ot to be trans that might be interesting!

Good heavens!

Mind you, Harry’s bound to run out of material soon…
It could be the final stage of his interminable journey

Going back to my post this morning, I think how it works is that a blood Princess is higher than a non blood Princess, so, if Meghan or Catherine are without their husbands and they meet Anne, Beatrice, or Eugenie, Meghan/Catherine must curtesy to Anne, Beatrice, or Eugenie, but if they are with their husbands, because Duke/Duchess is higher status than Princess, then Anne must curtesy to Meghan/Catherine. That’s how I understand it anyway. The Queen made some new rule recently (in the last few years) about blood princesses, so the blood princesses wouldn’t have to curtesy to the non blood princesses.

Is that absolutely clear? No, I thought not, not to me anyway, about as clear as mud. However I think all this curtseying and bowing is completely ridiculous, and I’m saddened that the Queen thinks it’s important.

Haha, the very image of Anne curtseying to a non blood royal is quite funny. I bet she’d say ‘Naff orf.’

No idea about MU and transwomen, but as the group I joined allowed women without children to join, even all that time ago, I suppose it wouldn’t matter until someone started a ‘you MUST admit transwomen’ campaign.

Wish I hadn’t thought of Young Wives, now I am wondering
about trans women and Mothers Union and the W.I ?

Ilovecheese

This sort of talk about some people being "higher" than other people is ridiculous.

My surname is King! grin

I recall that you agreed upon something else once.
It was something that I didn’t agree with.
I’ll try to remember what it was…

Titles are so unfair, when I joined the Young Wives my friend couldn’t because she wasn’t a Mrs.

At last! Something we agree on Annie!

Do you suppose they all curtsey to the one whose higher than them when they meet up? I feel sorry for the one at the bottom of the pecking order she must be worn out.

grin

Oh for heavens' sake .... I'm off. Life's too short for all this haggling over thinness and makeup and titles .......

I think that make- up may have legs (as it were)
Both Catherine and Pippa are a bit heavy handed with the kohl
Anyway, bye for now Sparklefizz
Did anyone else look at the Vogue article that Lucca posted a link to?
That passed a good fifteen minutes…
My favourite dress was Elliannes and Luccas least favourite
Mind you, I still love Diana’s, hers is the most iconic

The title Arch Bishop is higher than Dean or Canon

You're not born an Archbishop, or a Brigadier, or a CEO. You get there on your merits.

Royal Princes, however....

Sparklefizz Mon 02-Aug-21 11:00:17

It's no different to the church - or the military - or business - just ranks within an organisation.

This sort of talk about some people being "higher" than other people is ridiculous.

Agreed. Does that make the rest of us lower than all of them?

Imagine growing up thinking you were "higher" than other people.

hmmm....

And someone who is a Duchess due to marriage could never be higher than a blood Princess.

FannyCornforth Mon 02-Aug-21 10:40:23

Annie I looked it up in relation to the DoE
It’s a strange one isn’t it

Anniebach Mon 02-Aug-21 10:25:07

Don’t think so Maddy Meg isn’t higher than Anne .

FannyCornforth Mon 02-Aug-21 10:12:49

I’m sure that you are right maddy re Prince v Duke.
DH recently told me that, I didn’t believe him (if you knew him, you’d understand why) and I looked it up.

Alegrias1 Mon 02-Aug-21 10:09:42

A Prince can make a belted knight, a marquess, Duke and aa' that....

maddyone Mon 02-Aug-21 10:07:40

I thought Duke/Duchess was a higher title than mere Prince/Princess. Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong. I’ll have to check in later though as I’m off to the opticians now.

Anniebach Mon 02-Aug-21 09:57:21

Children who marry into the royal family will never be a royal princess / Prince .

Kate will be Catherine Princess of Wales not princess Catherine, as Diana was not princess Diana.

Princess Michael of Kent can’t be a duchess because her husband isn’t a duke, the duke of Kent’s wife is Katharine
Duchess of Kent
