Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

Charles will be 73 in November. Assuming he becomes a king in the next 5 years or so, he could still be reigning in about 20 years time, making William nearer 60.

By that time, their own children will be adults, which is probably what W&C would prefer, allowing them to bring their families up relatively ‘normally’.

Yeah, let’s have a sweepstake. Unfortunately none of us will be here to claim the winnings.

I might be

maddyone Mon 12-Jul-21 11:17:39

I hope you are Fanny.

Calendargirl Mon 12-Jul-21 11:19:29

Bragging again Fanny about how youthful you are, compared to us old codgers!

?

FannyCornforth Mon 12-Jul-21 12:07:23

Honestly Calendargirl I'm certainly not feeling very youthful at the moment!
You lot could run rings around me.
On Saturday I fell over with such gusto it would make F*** H**** green with envy

Mollygo Mon 12-Jul-21 12:34:40

Ouch FC! Hope you didn’t do any lasting damage.

Forestflame Mon 12-Jul-21 13:03:46

Talking of gemstones further upthread. I was told that you have 3 birthstones, one each for the month, day if the week and the hour that you are born. Opals are regarded as unlucky because they are very delicate and fracture easily, making them tricky for jewellers to work with.

Mollygo Mon 12-Jul-21 13:06:09

Forestflame I like that idea. I’m off to Google the 3 stones I deserve.??

Calendargirl Mon 12-Jul-21 13:20:43

Fanny

Surely not!

?

Hope you’re ok though. Shows it’s not just the oldies who ‘have a fall’.

I bet Prince Harry wished he had been sitting in the Royal Box at Wembley last night, watching the footie, instead of having to view it in his no doubt splendid cinema room in California, with Meg.

Must have given him a pang when the National Anthem was played.

Why on earth was Annie’s post deleted ?

Lucca Mon 12-Jul-21 18:10:23

I think I can remember what it was, perfectly innocent

Blossoming Mon 12-Jul-21 18:16:16

I was quite surprised to see two deleted posts, as this thread ambles along quite amiably as a rule.

Alegrias1 Mon 12-Jul-21 19:32:23

What have you all been doing while I've been cooking dinner? Sorry I missed it... grin

Blossoming Mon 12-Jul-21 19:36:00

Don’t look at me, I’ve been busy cleaning my second best tiara with a sable paintbrush.

Hi folks

We're not in the business of discussing the life expectancy of a child in this way - it's just not in the spirit.

Lucca Mon 12-Jul-21 22:25:57

Oh for heavens sake nobody was “discussing” the life expectancy of anyone. Annie was just asking for clarification of what a previous poster had said about thinking George might not be king.

FannyCornforth Tue 13-Jul-21 01:36:47

Unbelievable
What a load of nonsensical waffle

Hi folks

We're not in the business of discussing the life expectancy of a child in this way - it's just not in the spirit.

In which case why was this comment left, as it was the one which promoted Annie’s question !

“ I've got a long held theory / prediction about Prince George.

I don't think that he will be king, or if he is, it will be short lived.”

FannyCornforth Tue 13-Jul-21 07:35:15

Just to clarify, by 'short lived' I was referring to the longevity of George's reign
And, to repeat what Lucca said; there was no discussion, 'in this way' or otherwise hmm

Lucca Tue 13-Jul-21 08:19:22

Can’t believe somebody would report any of these comments

Mollygo Tue 13-Jul-21 08:24:15

Didn’t see the original comment, but unless you’re going gender neutral, ‘it will be short lived’ can only refer to the reign, not the person.
Hey ho! With no excitement after the football . . .

Blossoming Tue 13-Jul-21 10:36:58

Think someone had their finger stuck on the ‘report’ button yesterday! The football thread has a few gaps too.
