Horrible bacteria C. Difficile
Covid !
Good morning from dull but muggy Cheshire.
I couldn't let my house to strangers GrandMattie No amount of money would be worth the worry.
Covud has reared its head in our street. A neighbour and her twin teenage sons are ill. Worrying when so close to home. Boys are not too bad but their Mum feels pretty rotten. She has had one jab.
Not much happening here today. Local Co-op closing early tomorrow to allow staff to watch football. And wby not - am sure nobody will starve if they can't shop after 7.45 pm.
Good morning from Shropshire.Sunshine and showers forecast today.
I may watch TDF today as it’s going into the Pyrenees. One of my favourite ski holidays was to Saint-Lary, many years ago I hasten to add!
DGD stayed over last night so will take the day as it comes. She used to stay every week but with parties and play dates it has been a few weeks. She had a very good school report yesterday ??
mattie, I don’t think I could rent my house out either.
Scentia, we look after the grandchildren two days one week and three the next.It can be exhausting but so lovely having the privilege of spending precious time with them.
Enjoy the theatre Ash.?
Have a good day all??
Good morning from north Surrey, grey but no rain yet. It’s good to be home.
Goodness GrandMattie that is a lot of money for such a short time. I too would be loathe to allow strangers into my home. On that note, we had a lovely txt message from the owner of the holiday cottage thanking us for leaving it so tidy and how pleased the lady who looks after it was. She said you wouldn’t believe the mess some people leave it in.
Scentia how lovely you will be able to look after the grandchildren, allowing your DD to get back to work.
Ash enjoy the ballet.
DD sent me the boys end of term reports to read. Both were excellent, very proud granny. I did say to my D I would love to see youngest in the classroom as we struggle to get feedback from him about his school day and what he has been up to.
Yesterday’s journey home was good. Stopped at Stowe Park for a walk and picnic. We have been before many years ago but it wasn’t as I remembered and the map provided wasn’t brilliant but found our way back to the car park eventually ?
Garden has gone crazy in the week we have been away. DH was straight out there moving the lawn, staking and tying up plants that needed it and thinning out the marigolds to allow the other plants space. Looks better already. This morning we will go and inspect the allotment.
I will visit to mum and dad this morning, I have missed them this week but know they have been well looked after by my sisters.
We were meant to have been going to friends for a BBQ this afternoon but from messages yesterday evening I fear it will be rearranged due to the weather forecast and the date suggested is when I am working.
Wishing all a lovely weekend ☀️?
Good morning from a cloudy Tewkesbury from where we are heading home shortly. Hopefully we will get across Birmingham before the queues start. We will drop DS2 home and sigh a sigh of relief! He’s hard work! Take care and stay safe everyone ?
Good morning everyone from a muggy Glasgow. Rain is forecast for tomorrow so hopefully it will feel fresher after that.
Today I plan to fertilise the grass so that tomorrow’s rain will wash it into the soil. I’ll have to do that while OH is distracted watching sport on TV, no doubt the TDF. He objects in principle to me doing anything which will make the grass grow faster but earlier this year I (over) scarified the lawn to remove the moss and it has looked patchy ever since.
The tiny wildlife pond is still full of tadpoles but also with this hot spell the plants have been growing like crazy. I shall howk out at least half the vegetation and offer it to a friend after having rinsed it thoroughly to return trapped taddies to their family. Yesterday in the front garden a frog gave me such a start as he scurried away while I was weeding. With all the dry weather the ground is rock hard with no streams nearby. I can only hope he finds his way back to the safety of the pond.
A quick breakfast and we’re off to the local market. I usually get some great bargains at the fruit and veg stall. Week before last he was selling 5 avocados for £1 and raspberries at £1 a punnet.
I’ll add a joke to hopefully start your day with a smile. Stay safe.
Good morning Mick and all his followers. I hope you enjoy the TdF Mick. Did I hear correctly that some cyclists crashed into a ravine yesterday?
We are off to a family gathering today in a nephew’s garden in Leamington Spa. We are under 30 and it’s a big garden! It will be good to see everyone again. I haven’t seen my younger brother and SiL since 2018.
The flower bed is finished although it doesn’t look much at the moment. I need to put some grass seed on the bare patches in the grass to finish it off.
Enjoy your childcare days Scentia - they will fly by and the DGC will be at school before you know it.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Hope your journey goes ok Sar53 take care driving and enjoy the show ?
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s misty and grey but not dampening my spirits as we’re off on our holidays today. Car is packed with buckets and spades, a boat, bikes on the top and everything but the kitchen sink!
That’s lovely news Scentia well done to your DD with getting a job and even better news is you get lots of time with your DGC - hard work but such precious time.
Wow GM that’s some income for renting out a house for a couple of weeks - I’d definitely be tempted with that but I know what you mean about having strangers in your house.
Enjoy the theatre Ashcombe it’s lovely to have your friend to go with but I bet you’re missing olddudders - especially when doing things you’d planned together but then got cancelled. Hopefully it won’t be too long before you’ll get together again.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from a damp, muggy south Cornwall. Not a leaf stirring on my patio. My son must have crept in at 4am after his taxi shift as I didn't hear him. To our allotment coffee morning today, for home-made cake and to deliver the knitted puffin and gull to twin brother and sister.
I laughed at the thought of sorting my flat to let out grandMattie, which would be impossible even for mega money, unless I could advertise it as a 'living studio experience'. Ha ha ha.
(*muse*, no I don't have a Liverpool accent, but I love to hear it!)
Have a good day everyone, wherever possible.
Good Morning everyone from dismal Severnside.
No amount of money could I let my house out either Mattie. It’s my safe place.
Beechnutella is sleeping. She has had a busy week. We are going out later to do some craft type stuff. I tried my best to fill her in on some family stuff I’ve been up to recently but she would keep interrupting and making comments, mostly funny.
I expect your nightmare has left you feeling disturbed this morning Scentia.
I hope you all have the best day you can and enjoy the weekend sporting events if you’re interested ??
Good morning from a damp and overcast Essex by the sea. I do believe rain is forecast which is unfortunate as I have to drive over to Kent this morning. This will be the first time I have driven on a motorway for over a year and I am a tad nervous ?.
My daughter and I are going to see my granddaughter in her dance show in the theatre in Sevenoaks. I'm looking forward to it very much. I'll stay the night and return early tomorrow to miss the traffic.
Enjoy your Saturday one and all xx
Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset, overnight rain has left a fresh smell to the world and some big puddles.
Had hoped to do some garden tidying, perhaps later if it dries. Otherwise little of interest on the agenda today. Had a short visit with our lovely neighbour yesterday afternoon, she’s so pleased to be home, the live in carer has made it possible.
Goodness grandMattie, that certainly is crazy money. I’m not sure how I’d feel but suspect Mr C would be all for moving out for a while. All change for you soon Scentia, wonderful to have the opportunity if definitely not two days off.
Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning from a wet Torbay.
I hope it improves as I’m going to Plymouth today on a Gold bus with my support bubble friend to see a matinee performance of the ballet “Cinderella” at The Theatre Royal, performed by Birmingham Royal Ballet. This was originally booked for DH, olddudders and me last April, when it would have been “Swan Lake”. Cancelled due to Covid, they then booked as “Romeo and Juliet” in the Autumn, only to be faced with another lockdown.
The theatre nearly went under but thankfully was rescued by public donations and government funding. There are strictly enforced rules in place on social distancing for seating, masks and temperature checks. No restaurants nor bars are open and programmes have been circulated online as PDF files. The management is to be congratulated on how well they have reassured patrons by circulating information on what to expect.
I hope you all have something enjoyable planned for today with brighter skies than here! ⛅️??
A lot of people do…. But I’d hate having strangers in my house!
Oh my goodness Grandmattie that is crazy money I would be renting mine out if I lived there earning that sort of dollar and stay 10 days in a premier inn!
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun is out.?
Off to see DGC in an hour or so, I will have a little play with them and a coffee with DD before their weekend begins in earnest. DD has gone and got herself a job!!! She has shocked us all and will just say when we ask “it’s about time!” Me and the other Granny get to have them 2 days a week each though so I’m not complaining❤️ I have so many plans. DH is happy about my cut in hours at the factory and said it will be nice for me to have some days off!
I had a terrible nightmare last night about going to my parents house saying why couldn’t they have died instead of my FiL (I am estranged from my parents so it isn’t so shocking but wow it’s given me a headache)
I saw the interview with Cav on the TV Mick. He was saying “I’m just so tired” bless him. He doesn’t seem bothered about the Mercx record❤️ If England football team win on Sunday Cav has no chance at SPOTY 2021 ?
Have a good weekend my friends and keep smiling ?
Good morning from a grey E Kent.
The preparations for the golf Open seem to be over, the caravans etc., for the golfers and their retinues are there. We are expecting 32,000 spectators per day. That’ll be interesting. The people opposite have rented out their house to a golfer who is flying in from NY this morning. I suspect no isolation for him! The neighbour to our left has told us they’re renting out their house for £15,000 for the ten days to a Sky executive.
Doing a little gardening this morning again, the probs back to my previously abandoned patchwork.
Have a good day all. ?????☀️???
