After watching the women's finals this afternoon I sat in the garden in the lovely sunshine for half an hour.

Not only did Ashleigh win but the sun came out too!

Well done Ash.

Hi Rufus, cold here today, nearly 8pm, 16c, cloudy with showers it’s flipping July and we’re down south! We too are getting the ‘worse before it gets better’ message, at the same time possibly opening up more on the 19th, mystifying.
Quiet night in, poised for tomorrow night, I hope making lasagna for an early meal tomorrow is not a bad omen, should’ve made cottage pie or roast beef.
Take care ?

Hi Rufus2 - you’re a fount of knowledge ! Very quiet day here ( as usual ). Saw online that you have a lot of rain where you are and it’s unseasonably cold according to one news report ! Here it’s extremely hot and muggy. My local weather forecast said cloudy then sunny then wet so I’ve been dragging my clothes horse with my not so smalls (?) on it, in and out the back garden all day.
I am facing the thrilling prospect of watching repeats of Downton Abbey or cleaning my freezer out.
But I shall lift a glass at some point and toast you and all our friends down under, and over, and sideways.

I’m one of those in lockdown - lucky me - I’m on the fringe if it though - 10km down the road and I’d be free!
It’s been a glorious 13 here today with wind and rain so lockdown isn’t m feeling so bad - I’m happy to be indoors.
Oh and the football kicks off at 5am - will be an interesting game - hoping the Italians don’t spend every few minutes writhing on the ground trying to get a penalty and actually play some football shock

Don't be lonely *Rufus2"- after all , we're here!
DH isn't keen on Marmite on anything far less chips. I must confess I'm not that keen on chips!
I'm looking forward to some lovely local dairy produce and bacon ?. I do stick to my diet when at home so our weekends away are so special to me from a grub point of view. This is our last wee trip before my hip op. Goodness knows when we'll get away again. Also, I'll be at the mercy of DH's (invisible) culinary skills for several weeks.?
Stay safe. Don't overdo the booze or chips (Oh no, my inner nanny broke through!)

Evening All!
Infinity2 Satan calling! grin]
I'll get behind you 'cos it might be the safest place whilst you're cooking dinner! (setting fire to the kitchen!)
So that's what Cordon Blue chefs do when they're having a day off!
This article might re-assure you that you're not alone!

"Burning your food is not usually a #CookingGoal, but sometimes you've just got to set stuff on fire to bring out its best.
The French call this culinary technique flambé (flahm-BAY), which, no surprise, shares the same origin as the word flamboyant. A hallmark of old-school fine dining, a dish prepared en flambé was traditionally done tableside by waiters sporting tuxedos and superior attitudes. But in this day of DIY, there's practically no restaurant trick we can't do at home — with the proper precautions, of course.
So, here's how to get your flame on without burning down the house. Please assume I'm giving you all the requisite safety warnings when I say this kind of high-drama cooking means you're literally playing with fire. Proceed with caution.
How to Flambé"

And so on! I won't say more, not wishing to put more temptation in your path, and not because you're an "old lady", which I'm sure you're not, but young ladies have a habit of dissolving into tears when deprived! grin

Aveline Has your "strange man" tried Marmite with his chips? It could turn out to be a winner in the Antique Roadshow refreshment tent! shock
Have a good break amongst all the cattle in Galloway and watch where you step!

Jaxjacky we're not in lockdown; just a few minor restrictions, but Sydney is the place not to be; new cases are creeping up daily and every pollie and Medic. is now saying
"things will get worse, before they get better" So what's new?

I'm avoiding a search for "Our Ash"; until tomorrow, likewise the soccer, although I'm not sure when kick-off is! Here's hoping!

It's 11.00pm and 8C What do they sing!?

"Saturday night is the loneliest night of the week"? sad
