Good morning from sunny Colchester. It's going to be the first dry day in ages.
A walk this morning in preparation for sitting on the sofa watching the finals after lunch. Supporting Italy in the tennis and against them in the football. My son out-law is Italian so DD2 and DGS2 are conflicted.
Roast Beef and Yorkshires are on the menu of course!

Love to all x

Good morning. It is rather dull on the Lizard today and the forecast doesn’t look promising.
We have nothing planned so will tootle about and hopefully find somewhere inside.
DH wants to watch the football this evening so I have crochet and plenty of reading to keep me occupied. I will probably sit in the caravan awning as although I wish them luck , I’m not the least interested in watching or hearing the match.
Hope you all have a good Sunday and find a smile along the way.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's grey skies and the threat of rain. It's fairly mild so it'll be another muggy day.
Ash I love singing in churches. When I was a teenager I was known as a colotatura soprano. I had years of singing lessons and would sing solos in local churches. I've even sung solo in St Giles cathedral in Edinburgh. My claim to fame. Espee that's a beautiful clematis. Minimoon I hope you feel better soon. Beechnut I spent a little time in my garden yesterday and found the culprits that have been steadily munching through my plants. Snails. I loathe them too. I've cut back the lupins they were dining on so goodness knows what they'll eat next. Kittylester have a lovely family catch up.
Yesterday was a fairly gentle day for me. I did a bit of this and that. Weeded, washed, ironed and tidied. I intended to go to Aldi but I've put it off til today. I overdid things and my tendonitis reared its painful head so rested.
Today I'll have to do some shopping and a bit of hoovering. I'm not a big sports fan, but good luck to the England team. They seem a really nice bunch of boys. And that's coming from a Scot! ? Have a good day all.

Good morning all from grey Harrogate
I did wonder how you’d got so much done in your day nanna8 when my day has hardly started!! I’d forgotten you are ‘down under’
Yesterday we were invited to DD2’s garden, where dgs was playing in his hot tub, splashing us with water and playing with his inflatable flamingo!
This morning I will make an effort to go to church. We have a reduced choir of 6 who sing the hymns while we stay quiet and listen the rest of the day will be a nothingness day.
Have as good a day as you can, folks

Grandmajean Sun 11-Jul-21 08:17:07

Good morning all.
Broke my phone yesterday so had to buy a new one. Took DD as "adviser"as knew I could easily do something daft. The young lad who served us was wonderful. So
knowledgeable and competent ! In this situation I feel like I only have half a brain. He worked out what I wanted from my very non- technical explanation and I left the shop thinking I knew all about my new phone. Not quite as it turns out but am getting there. I used to be so confident when buying stuff but definitely not now with phones ! Need a new vacuum cleaner. Another day ,another time !
Have as good a day as possible everyone. Can't get excited about the football and it's nothing to do with me being a Scot- DH ,on the other hand, is planning an evening of beer and shouting!

Good morning from a dull start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. I can hear many birds twittering away this morning it’s such a lovely sound. What a day yesterday me and my dh met up with a couple of friends for lunchfriends we’ve not seen in five years - what a catch up that was I ordered the usual obligatory sticky toffee pudding only to find I had a stone in it which at first I thought was a tooth. By gum (excuse the pun) I handed it to the server saying I didn’t want to complain just take it away. With my implants it could’ve easily broken them thank goodness I’m careful with what I put in my mouth my cull and skink soup was minus cream at my request I think I was spoiled when tasting my very first cull and skink many years ago it was delicious and I’ve never been able to get one just as good since then . winkMust make it myself then there will be no complaints grin

Have a good Sunday everyone I recommend a must tv watch today Richard grandsons trip to outer space today should be exciting and I’ve heard he’d dyslexic so don’t despair all those with dyslexia. Success can still come to you. smile

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Sister brought me fresh pies and sausages so we will be having sausage and mash for lunch. BIL grows lots of vegetables so they picked some just before leaving home, can't get much fresher than that.
DD did an Aldi shop for me and will bring it this afternoon, she must have a well stocked shop near her as she always gets everything off my list.
I will not be watching tennis or football today, he can take himself off to the music room and leave me to Netflix, please let there be something worth watching.
Have a good Sunday.

Good Morning from overcast Torphins outside Aberdeen. In haste as our friends are cooking breakfast. Lovelt meal last night at stunning hotel beside a river with salmon leaping, we were cheering them on.

Keep safe and everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It looks like being a warm one in South Yorkshire and I am in the middle of one of my monumental sneezing fits. DD and her menfolk are coming to lunch; roast lamb - DH convinced himself that it was roast pork we’d bought, so he’s rather disappointed now! With GS and son in law around holding out their plates like Oliver Twist, he won’t get to eat much of it anyway!?
Whatever Sunday holds for you all, I hope it is thoroughly enjoyable. And, of course, C’MON ???????!

EkwaNimitee Sun 11-Jul-21 09:05:20

Good morning, Mick and All from a cool grey Carlisle. The grass is probably too wet to mow but I'm hoping to plant out my new buddleia, it's about flower so the butterflies that have just appeared should have something to enjoy. Otherwise on the gardening front, I've so far failed to find anyone to come and dig out borders for me so I shall have to plod on myself meantime.
I made it into town yesterday and was in the sofa shop soon after nine. A good start to the salesmans day as I finally decided on and ordered a sofa. It took a lot of sitting about on many sofas as the comfort of my back is critical to the decision. There was then a lot of dithering over the colour especially as I was trying to avoid grey. I was pleased to have him tell me that colour is coming back. Mine is going to be a pale sea green. Then a stroll back through the centre, avoiding the temptation of the well known brand of chocolate shop. Three months in Carlisle and I've not been in, yet...
This morning, the ironing awaits and then the finishing off of the papers and hopefully the garden after lunch.
The best possible day to all.

Good morning all and it’s looking brighter here in Essex.

Our golden wedding celebrations were lovely. Thanks so much for all your good wishes.
It started off rather fraught! One the gd’s (9) had been in A andE during the night with swollen eyes, swollen face and finding it hard to swallow. A reaction to something or maybe a bite. They weren’t going to be able to come to our party. ?. Then DS2 and smallest Gd were coming, . Anyway, eventually they all came as Livi was feeling better and the swelling had subsided, .
As we arrived at DS1 for said party, there was a crash upstairs . DGD (12 ) had pulled her bedroom blind down on top of a candle in a jar with melted wax. Oh my goodness ! Wax everywhere over her newly decorated bedroom.
A few loud voices but everyone pulled themselves together and were full of smiles when they came down.
Next Ds1 burnt his hand in the bar b q. Burn spray came out and it wasn’t too bad, so we all carried on regardless.
We eventually got into to garden for photos while the rain had stopped briefly. Dh went into the garage and dropped a bottle of red wine. Smashed everywhere.
Smiles replaced once more.
We won’t forget our golden wedding in a hurry.
Alls well that ends well, and we all had a giggle .
It sounds like one of your days Marydoll ??

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday. ?

Jaxjacky Sun 11-Jul-21 09:14:54

Good morning all from an overcast S Hants, rain due later. We have friends coming for a late lunch, I was going to make lasagna, but it’s Italian!! I’ll pretend it’s for the tennis.
If I can get that on the go, weeding is in order for the back garden, we’ve had little sun recently so the flowers and veg are slow but nothing slows the weeds. At about 7:15 we will walk to our local for the game, I’ve discovered a mask works nearly as well as a cushion to cover my eyes during the tense bits.
Enjoy your Sunday all ??????????????

Alygran Sun 11-Jul-21 09:16:46

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s brightening up so hopefully another lovely day.
I went out walking with a friend near Great Ayton yesterday. Fantastic views from Captain Cook’ monument and Roseberry Topping. We didn’t climb it!
Watched a bit more of series 3 of Virgin River last night.
Housework, tennis and football today.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Susan56 Sun 11-Jul-21 09:21:43

Good morning from Shropshire.

We had a lovely relaxing day yesterday with DGD.She is such a joy.We made dens, made perfume with rose petals and danced to disco songs from back in the day!

Today I plan on doing diddly squat as Espee’s picture put it so well yesterday!

Have a good day all??

Susan56 Sun 11-Jul-21 09:23:32

Gingster??glad you had a good day though and that all ended well.

Kim19 Sun 11-Jul-21 09:36:47

Esspee, I've four Philadelphus which look a lot like your lovely clematis. Absolutely masses of white flowers. Thought they were supposed to be a shrub but they've decided they'd rather be trees! Quite wonderful and the aroma beggars belief. I don't have your skill at posting photographs. Well done!

Blossoming Sun 11-Jul-21 09:37:18

Good morning all from a grey cloudy Lancashire. Glad you enjoyed your trips Ashcombe and Sar. I guess many people will be watching the sporting events today. My muscles are complaining from all the activity this past week, just a little folding and sorting today, and perhaps some sewing. I have a pair of trousers that need shorting, I may cheat and use wonderweb. Also a lovely cotton maxi dress that’s a little wide and low in the neck. The top is elastic aged so I just need to undo the casing an inch or two and shorten the elastic. It has a stirred bodice and is a delicate lawn fabric in light blue, so a cami underneath wouldn’t really work,

I shall now drink my morning tea and read through the thread properly instead of skimming. Have the best Sunday you can folks ?

Grey and cloudy Cornwall today with lots of rain expected this afternoon.

Good Morning Mick and all you lovely Morningsters.

Hope your day improves Minimoon and the stomach ache disappears.

I'm growing some shitake and oyster mushrooms Espeee so will try freezing those when they are ready. Lovely clematis. My search goes on for one today called Tie Dye. I've found it in only one Cornish garden centre so far and it's a bit of a trek to get there so will probably be cheaper to order it.

Eyes have settled down now completely after the ordeal with my split contact lens. Tomorrow I must get busy booking appointments for various bits of my body that are ready to be checked over: eyes, ears and teeth. Audiology at the hospital will get an email.

I'll get a couple of walks in with Mya before the rain comes, and then settle down for the tennis. I've played racket sports most of my life and love watching them. Doubt we will watch the match tonight. I've only ever been to see one big football match live (Manchester United v Real Madrid) in the late 1960's. Work organised a trip and I did watch the 1966 world cup match on TV. Wish England well though and I do hope they win.

DS will get a text wishing him all the best for tomorrow when he starts his new permanent job. He might ring today????

I will share (text) news about the tennis with DD as the afternoon pans out.

Any spaces will be filled with pilates stretches for my achy calf and reading my new book: 'Himself' by Jess . Someone recommended it on GN. It's excellent.

Thank you for the link Ash. I wish the Gold Bus came to Cornwall but sadly no. It looks a great service. After 7 years in Cornwall, I have still to get to Plymouth for a day's mooching. I've/We've visited the hospital and theatre a few times but never done the shops. As a lover of the theatre, I did feel for them all with these trouble times. I've donated to TRP and pleased that it has survived. I have made of note of Fletchers.?

As usual, it's taken me a while to read and do my post. I'll back track and read the ones I have missed later on.

Where ever you are in the world, take care and stay safe ??

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest Lancashire coast.
Yesterday decided I needed more exercise so Alexa provided me with music from the 60s and 70s, many of which I had forgotten and brought back happy memories. I danced around the sitting room for ages, tiring myself out. I prefer dancing around like a whirling dervish to organised exercise. My neighbours must have thought I was having a wild party.
On the boring side, I packed books into a bin bag for jumble and threw out old photos with no meaning.
Today I must brush the large back patio covered in pine cones and cook chicken for my daughter’s arrival later in the day. I will even set the dining room table with silver etc.
Hope you have a nice day and I’m looking forward (and slightly dreading THE MATCH) I grew up near a large football ground and remember the cars in the street, children asking for money to “mind” the car and hordes of men walking to the match. It bores me on the whole, but like going in for the kill, the big one.

muse Sun 11-Jul-21 10:05:41

?What a day Gingster.
Glad those smiles got you through?and all those mishaps didn't spoil the celebrations.

Georgesgran Sun 11-Jul-21 10:15:48

Good morning from Durham where it’s brightening up nicely. I’m not a gardener, but spent a couple of hours weeding/pruning yesterday and will do the same today - unfortunately, it doesn’t look any different after my efforts.
DD1 and DGS are self-isolating, so a solo day for me. Perhaps a little internet retail therapy later. Not sure if I’ll watch the footie or not.
Enjoy the rest of your day GNs.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 11-Jul-21 10:27:45

Morning Mick and all

Gingster what a day to remember!
Sar53 safe journey, I hope the M25 and A127 are kind to you and that you resist the temptation to make a stop at Bluewater!

Pottering this morning, then the 6yr old GS has requested a proper roast chicken dinner which includes pigs in blankets and copious amounts of stuffing balls. DD and family will be staying over to watch the match, GS school is allowing those pupils who have stayed up late to go in at 10.30 tomorrow.

COME ON ENGLAND ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Keep safe and well folks ?

Good morning Mick and all from overcast and slightly breezy Anglesey.
Ever since you mentioned your Liverpool connection Alizarin I’ve been reading your name with a scouse accent, so many different sounds depending which syllable you stress.
Your reward for kindly sacrificing all the flowering sweet peas Esspee will be loads more flowers.
What a memorable anniversary party Gingster.
The sea green sofa sounds beautiful EkwaNimittee, hope we see a photo when it arrives.
Wishing you all happy holidays, jolly trips out, lovely lunches, good times whatever you may be doing.
