Hi Rufus2. Am fed up. I wrote a long post on Monday from our beautiful getaway in gorgeous Galloway but it wouldn't post. We were so lucky and had a great time. It felt like a real holiday even though it was only for three nights. Gourmet grub! Not offputting stuff though. Just many delicious teeny wee courses of yumminess.
Back to earth now. Boiling hot and very uncomfortable. I wish it would rain a bit even just to lower the temperatures a bit.
We have, obviously, been out and about a lot. I must say Covid rules and regs seem to be scrupulously adhered to even in little places. We're just used to it now. Sign in everywhere with contact details, masks ever ready and queueing as required. Hotels asked us if we wanted our rooms 'serviced' and we always said yes. Poor housekeeping staff in PPE.
DS is back to work today as the restaurant is opening again after being closed due to staff with Covid. Hospitality staff seem to have fled. We see adverts for staff everywhere and DS was even contacted and offered three jobs while self isolating but he's happy where he is.
I hope things can be controlled in Australia and soon. What stage are you at with vaccination?

Hi Rufus, it was a hefty storm, but still light, so no illuminating lightning flashes.
Started bright blue skies today, but it’s been overcast up until now. Forecast for heat and sun over the next four days, 28 on Sunday, that’s tropical, we have children and the grands here for a bbq.
Right, must get on in the garden.
Take care ?

Hello Rufus. Nice day here and Freedom Day next week, whatever’s that brings.
Just down to earth after wedding which was perfect of course despite Mr Covid, in fact didn’t know he was around!
Had text from grandson in Sydney yesterday , he thought they’d be locked down at least till August ?? Luckily he’d just got back from lovely holiday Western Australia.
Not read that one Rufus , always been a reader, was a library assistant for yearsbut lately finding it difficult to concentrate long enough. Just trying Thursday Murder Club but not getting far.
Hope alls well with you and family.
Cheers. ????????

Hi Rufus2 - hope you’ve had a nice day.
It’s raining where I am so maybe the weather forecast is wrong as they say it’s going to be very hot but the saint says it will rain.

Seven pairs of new undies ! Pushing the boat out eh ?
Keep forgetting it’s your winter over there.
I love reading but am ruthless now. I give it a few chapters and if I’m not happy I don’t carry on with it.
Didn’t realise that Chris Hammer has a third novel out, I think it’s called Trust. I’ve just ordered that one today. I’m surprised that his Scrublands hasn’t been made into a film it was such a brilliant story.
Well. Have a night cap and your good health Rufus. I’m decluttering my house and am just about to attack the airing cupboard. What an exciting life I lead !

Victoria enters "Hard Lockdown No5" at 11.59pm tonight for 5 days!
Only allowed to go out for the usual 5 reasons!
Spread of Covid from NSW is feared and Premier Dan, back from sick leave says we must “hit it hard and fast”. just like we did with No.4. lockdown.
All football teams scheduled to play in Melbourne on Saturday flew out yesterday, just as if they knew what was coming! State border restrictions are being tightened/upgraded again.

Glad to see Soccer thread has calmed down. I wouldn’t say it was a practice match for 2022; more like 2024. A penalty should be a gifted goal.

Infinity2 Of course we don’t blame you for not knowing your Kiwis from your Aussies!
I blame your Geography teachers! Obviously you don’t follow Rugby, otherwise you’d have noticed that they’re always playing each other!

Jaxjacky I envy you with your thunderstorm, Always exciting!
You must have realised of course that it was a precursor to todays St.Swithin’s Day!?
We could do with the 40 days and 40 nights to top up our dams in readiness for our summer.

Nice to see these book discussions; much more intellectual than lessons on how to eat a croissant! hmm
Not normally being a reader of fiction, I was tempted by your recommendations and now ordering three of them plus a 7-pack of underpants (in order to qualify for free postage!
They don’t last for ever!) grin
Actually, I am reading some fiction; “Difficult Women” by Helen Lewis as recommended by one of our members recently!
Have you read it Megs? You might find it just as relevant to GN as “Jacaranda”; even more so in fact!

Will be interested to see how your Pandemic stats go from next Monday

I don’t find it at all difficult to stay “Home Alone” at this time of year! Zoom sessions will be resuming for several topics, even entertainment, all from the comfort of “your own home” and all for free!. hmm

Hope you all keep well and . Good Health wine wine wine
