If you like the existing bed why change, good beds are expensive plus linen and Duvet, just to save 6 inches width

I have downsized to a small double and it is fine for me. There is enough sprawling space. The only slight problem I have found is getting small double bedding. My bedroom is small and I was finding it a struggle to change a double duvet and sheets. I did get small double duvet and two covers from J.L. but I’m not sure they stock them now. And I’ve never seen small double fitted sheets available. I use a single flat sheet on the bottom.

I sleep alone in a double and find it very comfy with plenty of wriggle room without taking up all the space in the room. I’ve slept in a single on occasions and find it very restrictive and uncomfortable, you could get a Queen size bit smaller than a double but bigger than a single.

Could you not swap the rooms around? If you buy a new bed you will probably have to buy new bedding. I've been divorced and on my own for over 30 years, but I still like my 5'wide bed!

I’m widowed and no one will be sharing my bed again, apart from my two cats. I want to turn my bedroom into more of a sitting room as it’s the largest room in the bungalow and such a waste of space. At the moment I’ve got a king size and I’m thinking of trying a smaller size bed. Does anyone have experience of a small double please. I don’t know if a single is too small for a large adult to use. Which would be more useful if one was to be become an invalid or does it make no difference? Any thoughts gratefully received.
