Cool, damp and cloudy here in SW London.
I’m sure some people are pleased, though.

Oh dear Witzend what a grumpy post grin. It’s cooler here too, and I’m quite pleased for all sorts of reasons - I get prickly heat rash, so cooler weather better for me; I can sort the garden out more easily; the GDs I’m looking after today won’t be so tetchy, etc. I hope it doesn’t stay grey though - bright skies are very cheering

It’s pouring with rain here, windy, grey and wintery. What a difference a day makes, here in this green and pleasant land.

It wasn’t supposed to be grumpy!
Just stating facts.

Didn’t somebody once describe an English summer as “ three hot days followed by a thunderstorm” ?
Never mind- at least it saves watering the garden.

Those of us who moan about the few days of hot weather do so because for whatever reason they cannot tolerate it. It makes them feel worse than usual. So we are not just grumpy old women. Wish I felt like when I was younger, hot weather never fazed me then!

Here in the north west it isn’t raining yet, but is much cooler and I have actually had to close a window because I was cold! The sun is coming out now, though, and I fear we may have yet another hot day before any real relief from the heat. I loathe hot weather - it was 32 here yesterday - and am longing for normality to return.

Massive storms from 2am here in S Hants, more due later, so yes, typical summer for us Maw.

Megs36 Sat 24-Jul-21 10:32:54

I too have been having a bit of a moan about how hot it’s been, then I remembered all the money I spent in the past having a couple of weeks every year in the hottest places we could find, even worse, laying out in the sun so we could prove when we got home what a good holiday we’d had.!??????

I always seem to lag behind in providing myself with suitable clothing for the weather as it is. I had thought I had suitable hot weather clothing but what I wore to the dentist this week was nice but very very worn and actually had holes in one sleeve.

So pleased to see the cool and rain here I got out of bed and had a dance in the rain in the garden - in my pyjamas.

It'll give my sunburn a chance to go down. Still warm in the NE and tends to get sunny in the afternoon.

It’s cloudy here in Stockport nr Manchester and a lot cooler but no rain or storms thank goodness. I’m one who was enjoying the heat now that I’m retired and don’t have to work or even do housework! So I hope that the summer is not ever, we’ve only really had a week of heat which followed a long period of cook, grey days. It’s only a few weeks since people here were complaining about needing to have their heating on!

Please sun, come back!

Kim19 Sat 24-Jul-21 13:13:27

I have total sunshine with clear blue sky. Hooray for the north!

Rosycheeks Sat 24-Jul-21 14:52:52

Suns out now after showers on and off at least its cooler.?

Witzend Sat 24-Jul-21 17:20:29

The sun is out here now, 24 deg.
Very cool and damp earlier - a touch of mizzle in the air. I enjoyed a walk in that.

I don’t really mind the very high temps, as long as I don’t have to do anything much. And if there’s any sea to fall into, they’re fine However on the stinking hot 21st we spent the day at Legoland for Gds’ 5th birthday - I wouldn’t want to do that again in a hurry, not at those temps anyway.

No rain as was forecast here in Northamptonshire.
It's cooler thank goodness and some breeze.
I guess I'll have to get the hose out tonight. Some of my plants are looking a bit sorry for themselves.
