Saturday night is still the loneliest night of the week, thanks to this bonus lockdown week. I’d go mad if it wasn’t for you and our pleasant chatter! blush
Callistemon Fair do’s! Anastasia may, or may not, be popular with the masses, but she appears to have done a good job [n helping to secure the Olympics.,and I”m still interested
Whether that is popular remains to be seen!
Our promised thunder storms came to nothing; not a single drop!, so not much of a spectacle
And we need bright young things on 6-figure pay packets to tell us that!?
Cold? Yes she got that right!

Muse Where exactly is your mysterious “neck of the woods*?
We are familiar with Cornwall, well, Vera was, and I’m still interested; I subscribe to “The Railway Magazine” which is useful for certain news items through its accounts of GWR developments
Home grown beans!? Anything home grown has (usually) got to be good. Although I’m told that frozen ones in supermarkets are better than fresh”; same with Brussels Sprouts and cheaper too! hmm

Jaxjacky It’s not my coffee nor “snifters”! The Company is afraid that some of their nurses might find a kind, rich widower on their roster, take a shine to his lifestyle and scheme to become his live-in nursing companion
“There are stranger things in Heaven and Earth etc grin]

1224 miles on the clock! Since September!? That’s really living and all thanks to Covid. Good thing you obviously explained about its need for petrol occasionally, which she pays for, I assume!?

Aveline In case I don’t bump into you before Tuesday, Good Luck; and if I do, let’s hope it’s not your good side that hits the pavement’

Ian is coming round Tuesday for me to sign yet more papers regarding the trade-in of my car against the purchase of his new Kia, due on Friday!
I might learn more about hip-hops.
He has done away with the sticks and was due to go back to the office in a fortnight, but lockdowns are upsetting plans!

Good Health wine wine wine

Rufus2 I'm so used to lockdown now that the Australian one just seems normal to me these days.
I had a PCR test at the hospital today and if I don't hear by Monday pm I'm to go in as planned.
Meanwhile, I'm distracting myself with a dilemma. We love Maine Coons. Our Baz died suddenly last month. Now we have the chance either to re-home two retired adult breeding males or wait for at least 6 months for the chance of a kitten. I'm so desperate for feline companionship that I'd take the two old boys like a shot but DH isn't so sure. They'd be a lot more work (for him!) They are gorgeous though. But so are kittens. But the house is so empty. Round and round go my thoughts. I'm glad of the distraction though.

My neck of the woods is literally that. We live in the middle of a 16 acre wood. Par is about 10 min drive south, Bodmin 7 min drive east and Wadebridge 20 min drive north. Little hamlet with 6 houses plus us about 500m away from the others.

French beans are so easy to grow and I've never found any frozen ones. Too right about frozen Brussels though. Can't be bothered to grow those.

Our thunderstorm never materialised either. About an hour ago we were supposed to be in the middle of one. Would you believe it - blue skies. We slept through a distant storm last night. Rumblings were heard from the St Austell area.

Cheers Rufus - G+T time

Sounds lovely muse. Do you have an inundation of tourists?

muse Sat 24-Jul-21 19:21:06

It is lovely Aveline
We can hear the traffic on the main A30 through Cornwall when the wind is in our direction but get nothing through our little hamlet. It's on an unadopted road with a dead end. When it is all really quiet, we know there are queues on the A30.

Hi Rufus, yes she did put petrol in, took the tank up over the handover reading, her car checked over, mine back by yesterday afternoon. She’s out on the raz tonight, hardly, but out, we have the GC’s overnight, I hope we don’t repeat the massively noisy storms we had last night, both awake at 2am, sun’s back out now!
Aveline best wishes for a negative and Tuesday, I can’t give an opinion on cats as we have none.
Well done Ian Rufus, bit of a bummer the lockdown, practically expected here. One of the gross items we discovered in French supermarkets was tinned sprouts, disgusting!
Take care ?

Hi Rufus, hope you have a nice day tomorrow and life isn’t too boring. Exciting news about the car.

Aveline - good luck with the cats ! Get the two adults as soon as !!!

Hellogirl1 Sat 24-Jul-21 20:36:38

Aveline, I`d get the 2 males, why wait? I was going to have a kitten or young cat when Mia died, but after some thought I adopted a 12 year old boy, I don`t want to leave a youngster homeless when I pop me clogs.
Muse, anywhere near Jamaica Inn? I love the A30, but it can get very busy.

Aveline Sat 24-Jul-21 20:53:31

Right. I'll phone the breeder tomorrow. Hope they're still available. Will have to wait a month or so to see how hip op goes though.
