Thank your for all your kind suggestions re my ulcers, much appreciated. I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself!! They have never taken this long to heal, I shall just have to live on ice cream and ice lollies. What hardship in this heat! ?

Hello from a slightly damp Oxfordshire village. It is still warmish though and one of the cats slept under a rose Bush last night. The other one slept in their bed. We are going out for lunch to another village. The restaurant closed for over a year due to the pandemic but they are up and running again. I hope Eton Mess is on the pudding menu as it’s one of my favourites. This afternoon we will be clearing out the downstairs loo. All being well a decorator is coming tomorrow. It is our over the top room in the house. Barbara Cartland pink. My little granddaughter said once that when she is a lady she is having the same wallpaper!

Just made morning! It is brighter than I expected in East Staffordshire today.
I had DGS on a sleepover last night, we had popcorn and watched a movie, he was a little angel as usual, but up at 5.15!!!
I have just dropped him back home and I now need to do some cleaning before DH gets home this evening. I will just have a rest and read through your posts first!!!

Morning all! It’s a flying visit but just to say to Marydoll that my dentist told me washing my mouth out with salt water was the best thing for mouth ulcers. He said many of the treatments are too harsh for the skin around the ulcer, so they just get worse. I hope it helps. While it’s pretty horrid, I don’t like the ointments either. As a child we had powdered sulphur (flowers of sulphur) put directly onto the ulcer at night. It was always cured by morning.

Morning everyone. Beautiful blue skies here and pretty hot. Sat out for half an hour for some vitamin D and then back inside to listen to BH on radio four. Think we are going for a brief drive around soon for change of scene. Washing done and recycling rounded up for DH to put in bin. Tucking into a new book. My best wishes to you all.

My friend arrives today and there is a garden opening nearby so might do that, weather just right. Maybe a meal out tonight.
I was surprised how overtired I got yesterday just doing a big shop, taking books to our station waiting room book drop off etc. When I came home, my back was killing me and I had a nap.
The old stationmaster’s house next to the station has just been opened as a community centre by volunteers and they have made a great job of it. Library, meeting rooms, computers and events planned, very nice to see.
I have just been gazing at photos of the village in the cotswolds where I used to spend the long school summer holidays with my aunt and godmother, an escape from the inner city. To say I love the place is an understatement and I’m wondering whether to have a trip there. One shouldn’t go back really, I did and was disappointed by the changes. However, I go into the countryside whenever I can to relive the atmosphere.
It’s very noisy next door, children, dogs etc, but I don't mind, it’s life. They are going to have extensions etc built, so it will get noisier.

Oops condolences to your DHs friend - how awful.
When my DD1 was a student she had a dose of Glandular Fever which manifested itself in mouth ulcers, in her mouth and down her throat. She was coming to visit me from Aberdeen but could only whisper down the phone, she could only eat jelly. Marydoll I remembered something I'd read about the fruit Pawpaw (Papaya). I bought two, gave her half, the fruit slithered down her throat, when she arrived. Next morning she said she felt an improvement. She had the other half for breakfast, by lunchtime she could eat food. She had the last bit that night and woke up feeling much better. That's the answer, Marydoll if you can get hold of a Pawpaw, it will deal with your mouth ulcer!!

Good morning, Mick and all from sunny Carlisle. It's a few degrees cooler but still necessary to keep the blinds down on the sunny side. Too sunny for me to work outside although the ground is like concrete and even the weeds are barely growing. It might be necessary to do the dreaded lawn watering though. It's going to be reading and admin I think. I've actually re-booked a couple of previously cancelled holidays so need to have a look at the stuff they've sent. They're not until next year by which time I hope we will be on top of the virus, though I hoped that last year.
Thoughts for all those having a difficult day and hoping matters get better for you.

Good morning from a sunny but cooler Sefton coast.
Yesterday we took advantage of the drop in temperature to take DGdog on two long walks plus have lunch along the Leeds-Liverpool canal. We always enjoy the tranquillity and marvel at people’s gardens.
My school friend responded to a voicemail I left. I was right to be worried and have not stopped thinking about her. A mutual friend is due to phone me in half an hour with more news.
It’s lovely to hear you have plenty of outings to look forward to Mick. Oops I’m sure your company will be just the comfort your friend needs at this very difficult time. Have a lovely day of positive memories Mawbe. Stewed rhubarb, maydonoz? Ooh, I haven’t had that for quite some time. Yummy!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire - not what we were expecting! I slept longer last night than I have for a while, so feel a bit more human today. DS is coming down for a flying visit at some point, but I have no idea what time, so we will have something light to eat in the garden before he shoots off again.

Good morning Mick and all from warm, going to be very hot, and humid Lueneburg. I love it though. Just a day of doing nothing and in the afternoon visiting a 90 year old friend who is still very active. Her large garden is managed all herself.
A big hug to you Maw. How sad Oopsa. There are some lovely photos on here today again. Even though I don`t always comment on your posts, I do feel sad with you, enjoy your good times , laugh at your funny stories and take great interest in your outings and all activities. Keep well and take care.

arrived in Kinlochrannoch without incident apart from busy roads. Today they plan to bike round thee loch as weather is going to deteriorate there after today apparently.
They were all very good at keeping me

Photos of Noss!

Good morning from a cloudy Shetland. The forecast is promising us some sun, but that was the case yesterday but no one told the weather! We went out to Noss all the same. The little inflatable boat couldn’t land in its usual place because of the sea swell. The warden who takes people across landed it higher up and we had to scramble down slippy rocks to get in it. Not what we were expecting. Our walk round the island was shrouded in haar and low cloud, but just as we reached the high cliffs it lifted briefly to reveal the thousands of gannets on the steep cliffs. A real experience for the senses, the sight, the smell and the noise.
I think we may walk up Shetlands highest hill today if the cloud stays above the top.

Hello everyone, we are now in Clay Cross in Derbyshire, where at least it is dry. DH is having his birthday present today, driving an Austin 7, a Jaguar XJS and a Rolls Royce for 20 minutes each. He is very excited!

Yesterday I was at Buckingham Palace having a picnic on the lawn. Sadly HM couldn't join us as she is in Balmoral, but she could have been welcome to one of my home made flapjacks if around. I have attached a few shots of the gardens, which really are beautiful, it was lovely to be able to wander freely around them, and all the staff were so welcoming.

Oops what a complete tragedy, I am sure your presence and loving hug will be enough, there are never the right words to say.

Better get dressed and calm a grinning DH!

Grey but still warm this morning. After the excitement of yesterday and the stairlift I am rather flattened by realising that although DH will be much safer my involvement won’t be much reduced since he can’t get his feet on the footrest without assistance and so will need help. I had hoped he might be more independent but apparently not.

Short church service this morning but nothing else planned. Distinct lack of get up and go here which I hope will pass.

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where the sun is up.
Dsis's pcr test came back negative so she is coming to stay and bringing her DH so I shall put them to work plan lovely days out, possibly a bit of both.
