Many years ago I had a premonition that a situation that I longed for would come true.....It hasn't yet but is still possible.
(I can't give any details)
Have any of you had a premonition that came true?

I have had a premonition and it's a weird one.

In the early eighties Richard Branson took off around the world in his balloon and I had a dream that he would crash into the ocean. I knew exactly where too. My colleague at work pointed at the large map of the UK in the sales office and said: "Here's a map draw an X on it."

I did and he came down, days later, right on that spot. The people in my office could not believe it. I had no interest in Branson, his balloons or their journey, but I saw them crash in a dream.

I'll never forget it.

For years I had a dream where I was trying to walk through thick deep mud. I could hardly drag my legs through it, my legs were really heavy.
Some time later had a disc in my neck collapse and my spinal cord was compressed. After an emergency operation I had to learn to walk again, the sensation in my legs was the same as my dream.
Luckily I can now walk unaided

I dreamt my stepmother had died and was telling me to go look after my dad. The dream woke me and I noticed it was 2:06am. Since she was in hospital with cancer, I followed my premonition and arrived at the hospital to find Dad grieving. Time od death? 2:06am.

For a couple of years I was always scared my son was going to hang himself. He's still with me, thank Lord, but the premonition only ended when his cousin, born on the same day 1 year later, tragically did.I can't help thinking it was crossed wires, it was such a specific foreboding. And since, it's gone.

Not really a premonition but on my husband's 54th birthday we had returned from a family meal out and I remember being quite overwhelmed by how much I loved him. Things had not been great between us for many months but the previous few weeks had been much better. I remember looking at him and thinking how I really did love him and made all sorts of plans for the future. I was going to retire and work part time and go and stay with him a couple of nights a week (he worked away fro m home and was only back at weekends). For some reason I didn't tell him how I felt and my plans and sadly never got the chance as he collapsed and died less than 12 hrs later. How I regret not telling him. My mum always said her side of the family had premonitions so perhaps I was being given a warning.

Yes several. It is not a nice feeling, doesn’t help in any way.

My DD age 7 told me my mother was going to die in hospital. She had every test for stomach cancer and all were clear. The next day she was getting ready to go home when an artery blocked in her leg. The had a major heart attack after the premed and died an hour later.

I’ve had several, and they always happen. The strangest was a man I hardly knew knocked on my front door, when I opened it I thought “I’m going to marry you, and be with you for the rest of your life”.
When he died, aged just 61, very suddenly, I realised what the odd wording (“YOUR life”), had meant.

I had a dream that I was standing on the shore looking out at a big ship out at sea. There were a couple of men on it. All of a sudden I called out to them and screamed that it was going to go up. It did. Fire and smoke everywhere, it started to sink.

Next day on the news was footage of the sinking of HMS Belgrano, off the Falklands...exactly as I saw it. I was stunned.

Another one: I walked into a pub and instantly saw the person sitting at the bar, and the attraction was instant. They were with someone else but we got talking as the friend I was with knew the pair. We all became friends. Weeks later I suddenly when I was in my living room I felt a 'wind of change' sweep through the room, the air seemed to move, it was very strange. I told my sons I knew something big was about to happen [wasn't certain what] so they can confirm it. I wasn't sure me and new friend would be a couple, it seemed highly unlikely at the time but I felt it had something to do them.

We got together a couple of weeks later and was told the feeling in the pub was mutual. It was a great relationship at the time, sadly we are no longer together though.

Have had several in the past involving trivial episodes that there was no way I could have known anything about. Only serious one was when my son was going away with friends for a few days, a common event but this particular time I was incredibly anxious really concerned that he wouldn't come back home. He came home and all was fine and then a few weeks later he told me the car he'd been driving was involved in an accident. Don't have them anymore and I'm glad.

As a teenager living in my own flat, I dreamt of a fire taking place in a house in the road I had since left but grown up in. I knew the house and the people who lived there. My childhood friends father, who lived across the road went into the burning house. He was trying to save the occupant. I was so shocked when I woke in the morning, I sat on the side of my bed in a daze arriving late for work. Two days later, sitting on the train home from work, I was reading the back of somebody's newspaper and there was the story of the fire and the loss of the life of the occupant and the danger incurred by my childhood friend's father in attempting a rescue. The bedbound occupant had been smoking in bed and fallen asleep.
My future husband thinking I was imaging all this, drove me to the house and it was just as I expected, the windows like blackened eyes. Smoke damaged. Fortunately, I haven't had a repeat. It's not something I ever talk about as it sounds ridiculous but it truly happened. I was 18 years old.

Years ago my DH announced 'Perry Mason has died.' This was a very popular TV show then. When I asked him how he knew as we had watched the TV news together, he didn't know. I could find nothing in the papers about Raymond Burr, the actor who played Perry Mason, having died. Days later there was a news item that Eric Stanley Gardner, the author of the original Perry Mason books, had died on that day.

This was when I was 8,
My father died just after the war, and my mother was just resigned to being a single parent, with no men friends, she didn't get out much.
However, one day I wrote a card with a poem and it's title was 'To My Mother on Her Wedding Day'
I didn't give it to her, then, but a couple of years she told me she was going to get married - so I gave her the card
Weird!

I've had several, I knew that last time I saw my father would be the last time I would see him alive. He died from a massive heart attack 3 weeks later.

When I was 17, I told my mother that I would be out of work by the weekend, I was made redundant the next day, and no, there was no prior warning that the company was in trouble.

In my mid twenties, I looked out of the window and had a vision of a plane on a motorway. The next day a plane crashed onto the embankment of the M1 at Kegworth.

There have been more...

Redhead, have you written that before somewhere on GN, about the man with the bike on the path.
otherwise i've had a very strange premonition, as it sounds familiar to me.

Rosycheeks Fri 30-Jul-21 07:51:30

When I was pregnant I had a dream that I would have a ginger girl (this was before you could be told the sex of the baby.) It was so vivid, and of course that is what I had.
I always know when my DB is going to phone. I have 3 DB but he is the only one I get this feeling about. Oh and he does always phone out of the blue.

Shropshirelass Fri 30-Jul-21 08:13:06

My mother had several accurate ones. They were very vivid and different from a dream.

Maria59 Fri 30-Jul-21 09:29:07

I had a premonition once on holiday about an event so horrific everyone in our group laughed and said that couldn't happen. Two weeks after we arrived home it did actually happen.

NfkDumpling Fri 30-Jul-21 09:47:51

I often have little premonitions, mostly small ones involving the family, which have happened. I have had a recurring worrying one involving death which I don't take about as it hasn't happened and hopefully won't for a very long time.

The only big premonition which comes to mind is that Malaysian plane which vanished over the sea several years ago. I knew that would happen a couple of days beforehand.

lizzypopbottle Fri 30-Jul-21 11:06:24

Not exactly premonition, but I've lost count of the number of times my sister and I have sent exactly the same birthday card to family members. I'm in the North East an she's on the Wirral Peninsula so we're nowhere near the same shops.

BigBertha1 Fri 30-Jul-21 11:20:03

In my life I have had a couple of strong intuitions about people and places which had a flashing red warning sign over them that I ignored. I won't do that again I hope. Older and wiser.

Yes. A few years ago I suddenly has a terrible feeling that my son had been in an accident while travelling back home. I looked at the clock and it was about 2 50 in the afternoon. I had no way of contacting him, but he wasn't due back until the evening, so I was very worried, and the feeling got worse as the time passed. At about 10 pm his boss came to the house to tell me that at about 2.40 the furniture van
they were in had got a punctured tyre. He pulled the van over to the verge and he walked back along the road to put out the hazard signs, while my son was getting the spare tyre out of the van, and a car crashed into the back of the van after running up the ramp. The back of the van was very badly damaged and my son was thrown into a field. The car was stuck inside the furniture and there was a family inside. The lady was driving, her disabled husband was in the passenger seat and son and daughter were in the back seats. As they were trying to reach the car doors an RAF lorry stopped and the airmen were able to start helping and also get in touch with police and ambulances. Unfortunately the man in the car later died in hospital. At the inquest the lady admitted that she had turned around to say something to the children and hadn't seen the signs. My son was very bruised and sore, but fortunately not too badly hurt.
