Oops!! Good morning all from grey Harrogate
I have Dgs to look after today. Will have to batten down the hatches he’s such an inquisitive little boy.
Yesterday DGd informed me she’d had COVID but was better now. It lasted for 1 day with her. She then announced she’d really like a present from me- she was eyeing the felt tips I’d bought for both children to use when with me. My DD pointed out she was wearing a pretty dress I had given her when she arrived. They left to go to town for DGd to spend her pocket money.
Scentia ? happy birthday have a good one!
That was a shock you had GrandMattie hope you find the cause of the problem
Have a good day all

Morning Mick, morning All from a soaking and very windy corner of Somerset

Yesterday was mixed. Our friend and neighbour died in the early hours. Her family kindly came to share the sad news, a task we then took on for them speaking with other friends on their behalf. Our spirits were lifted by seeing our family after driving through a deluge on a motorway, we thoroughly enjoyed our time together knowing our friend would have approved, her mantra was always do what you can while you can and make the most of life.

I’m sorry you’ve had so much stress and worry grandMattie and hope your husband continues to be well cared for medically. That was quite an adventure for you all ash, pleased all was well in the end. You must be relieved muse, hope your husband has a positive outcome from the antibiotics. What a difficult task amselerin, it sounds as if you need a rest today. I’m sure you’ll come to the best decision for your future.

Happy Birthday scentia. Enjoy your Gloucestershire trip. Safe travels to all on the roads today, pleased you have had a good week greyd.

Take care everyone, hope Friday is kind to us all.

Good morning everybody from N Bucks where it is cool, grey and looks unpromising.
My sympathies Grandmattie for your traumatic experience but of course you did exactly the right thing. It’s funny how your “gut instinct” takes over- I was there a few times with Paw - and it was a shock each time. In our case he got longer in hospital but perhaps that’s not something anybody wants these days. He was very very tired afterwards as you both must be. People don’t always think of the “support team” do they?
Lunch with my youngest D’s in- laws today which will be nice but I think there might be some concern shared as their loft (D and SIL’s) conversion has been delayed and held up more than once by a very awkward neighbour and their baby is due on 21 September. We are all concerned about how they will cope but there have been no requests for help other than space in my garage which now houses the contents of the former loft. Fiercely independent, both of them .
On the bright side, my washing machine conked out yesterday and I was steeling myself for replacing it but the lovely Terry came out in the evening (8.30!) and left at nearly 10 - and seems to have fixed it. Even better, he did not want paying at the time, but left me his bank details and said to run it a couple of times before paying - some people are so nice! He also only charged me £45- gems like him are becoming harder to find.
Wishing well to those with aches or pains and a pleasant day to us all.

Whoops, pressed post before I could send love to all x

Good morning from cloudy Colchester.
I'm glad you've started using the date Mick. It'll help me a lot. I've just looked in the fridge and had no idea how near the use by date stuff was as I'd no idea how much of August has already gone.

Good news. Our postponed building work will be starting this afternoon and they will be continuing, and hopefully finishing, tomorrow. We have lots of small jobs to do around the house but 2 will be ticked off by Monday!!

Gelisajams Fri 06-Aug-21 07:39:29

Good morning from a damp Morecambe Bay.
Birthday Wishes for Scentia this morning. I hope you have a lovely weekend break.
Grandmattie ??for you. Not the best of weeks for you.
DH is off for a run, he hasn’t run for about 3 weeks so he will be no doubt flop in the chair when he gets back.
Later 4 year old DGD is supposed to be coming to stay for the weekend but her mum said she’s gone very clingy so I hope she will stay. We haven’t had her for quite a few months. She starts school in September. Mum thinks that’s what’s unsettling her. They had a leavers “graduation” at preschool where she said she wanted to be a firefighter when she grew up.
Hope all is well with the posters to follow. Take care everyone and continue to stay safe.

Good morning all and what a wild night we had. High seas, gales and torrential rain. High summer at its best ?. It came on so quickly after a lovely warm and sunny day.

I will make a chocolate cake today and cook a ham and chicken. I made sausage rolls yesterday. All the GC ‘s favourites. The family are all coming to stay for the weekend. It would be so easy if we had good weather but I don’t think we’ll be lucky. So 14 of us and 3 dogs will be cosied up and it looks like indoor pursuits is on the agenda. ?. What fun!!!

Ashcombe I’m glad your family found their way across that river, albeit rather damp and soggy. I bet they were relieved to see you! ?.

GrandMattie - sorry to hear of your troubles this week. My Dh had a TIA last year, and it’s very scary. Hopefully yours will be fine now he’s on the statins. ?. I’m sure you’ll be able to get to see your GC as soon as he is ‘sorted’.

Beechnut nothing quite like fish and chips when youve been
Fancying them for a while. Mmmm!

Well I think the weather will be similar all over the country today, so get out your wellies and don’t let it spoil holidays, days out and adventures you have planned. ???

Good morning Mick and all Morningsters
Brightish Cornwall. Such an improvement on the soggy day yesterday
Just enjoyed 10 hrs of sleep. My hospital visit has confirmed no skin cancer but I’m referred to the ophthalmologist as the lump does need a name. They thought it looked like an infection. ?

MrM has his dressings changed today 8th visit and last day of antibiotics. I hope there’s a positive result.

Sorry to read of such a traumatic time for you Grandmattie. I do hope your DH’s condition settles.
Happy birthday scentia ?
See you all later. Off to get the kettle on.

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lueneburg. Good wishes to all with problems. Last Saturday I was clearing the little stream in my garden from shrubs and all sort of growths. It took me 4 hours of moving in the water and cutting the edges along the stream.. As my neighbour is blocking the water to use it for watering the garden, it was rather muddy towards his end. I had Wellingstons on and at the end of all this work I was completely wet, covered in mud (black) and I couldn`t take my Wellies off. That`s when I decided that this house will have to be sold a I threw all my closing into the bin. That is when I decided that the house has to be sold and I have to move into a flat. My parents built this house and I love it. But I have to face up to being not a teenager any more. As soon as possible I shall have to move to Britain. I find it not so easy to make big decisions any more. Anyway, the sun is shining and I shall take the dog for a walk. to clear my head. Have a good day all. I do love the long novellas from all of you. I miss them when they are not there. x

Scentia Fri 06-Aug-21 07:18:26

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is a little wet☔️
Beechnut. Thanks so much for remembering my birthday you and DH are the only ones?. DD had a card on her kitchen side yesterday when I went over on Nanna duties but she forgot to give it to me and I didn’t like to ask for it?
I love that my DH will always make me a birthday card instead of buying one he knows it means a lot to me. DSiL was sent home to isolate yesterday as a guy he works with tested positive and he felt very sorry for himself so I took the children out before he got home, I can’t deal with him when he is in a self pitying mood and DD struggles too as we are a rather stoic family?
I am going to do some deliveries and then pack my case for my weekend away. Have a lovely day folks. Sun is out here now so that has cheered me up a bit☀️

Jaxjacky Fri 06-Aug-21 07:13:56

Good morning Mick, enjoy your coach trip tomorrow. Good Morninga all from a damp S Hants, it’s rained overnight, high cloud now.
GrandMattie what a week for you, I hope your DH is stabilised to the medics satisfaction soon and you can get to see the family. You must be worn out ?.
Safe journey home Greyduster.
Yesterday afternoon was most autumnal, wet and dark, disappointing for August, I faffed about on admin, booking car service and other admin, dropped some bits to DD. Both her and Imogen are much better, track and trace, who ring every day, have said they’re free on Monday.
Today my hairdresser is coming and we have a Tesco delivery pm.
Very Happy Birthday wishes to Scentia ???, enjoy your day.
Pleased to see muse update in the kitchen last night.
Have a pleasant day all x

Beechnut Fri 06-Aug-21 07:04:10

Good Morning everyone from a damp Severnside. Plenty of rain yesterday.

Happy Birthday Scentia, enjoy your trip away and the view from Crickley.. ??

I’ve been fancying fish and chips from the shop for months so as I got my jobs done yesterday morning I thought I’d treat myself for lunch. I went off to get them from a chippy my friend had mentioned (she now lives hundreds of miles away) and about five minutes after I’d finished eating them up she pops on an unexpected FaceTime call ? so we had a lovely chat for awhile. Then Beechnutella messaged to say she had just had her second vaccine.

I’m glad to hear mrMattie is fine and hope he stays that way. Not the best for your son to have to leave his dad so soon after.

Take care all and Greyduster for your journey home, not nice travelling in the rain. ?

Ashcombe Fri 06-Aug-21 06:50:31

My goodness, grandMattie, you’ve really been through the mill! So sorry you and your DH have gone through such tough times. It sounds as if he will be closely monitored and the drug regime will stabilise his condition. I hope you will be able to visit Iris and family soon. ???

Greyduster Fri 06-Aug-21 06:37:45

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a wet and windy Northumberland. We are driving home today. We finished off our holiday locally yesterday, crabbing off the harbour (until DH got the line stuck and broke it just as we had found what GS termed “crab central”) then later, a spot of bird watching along the the coast path. It’s been a good week; the weather bucked all expectations so we were lucky, but today’s journey home looks as if it will be as wet as it was coming up, so no fun. Hope everyone has a good day.

grandMattie Fri 06-Aug-21 06:35:50

Good morning from an unexpectedly wetE Kent. The forecast was 6% chance of rain!
It’s not been the best week for me. DS1 went back to India on Saturday, leaving me with my empty nest - again.
On Thursday evening, DH suddenly lost the plot and displayed all the symptoms of a TIA. I immediately dialled 999 and he was blue lighted to the nearest A&E. The symptoms subsided and after a number of tests including a CTscan he was discharged at 0400. To say we were all exhausted.
Since then, it has been a round of hospitals, tests, scans, phone calls, GP visits…. He is now on statins and aspirin, but appears as right as rain. The boring conversations of what caused it, what to do, with rug to take, etc., are now endless.
What distressed me almost as much was that we were due to visit the DGDs, leaving last Saturday, but DD doesn’t want to see us until DH is sorted.
Ah well. Thank you for your concern, Ash. I so hope things are sorting themselves out for you and olddudders to be able to meet again.
??????❤️

Ashcombe Fri 06-Aug-21 06:24:56

Good morning, Mick and all who follow from a wet and windy Whiddon Down.

I hope you enjoy your coach trip tomorrow, Mick with better weather.

Yesterday, I dropped off my daughter and family to take a 4.5 mile walk around the Meldon Viaduct, which they enjoyed despite atrocious weather. That was until towards the end when a footbridge over a river was closed! A text about this reached me as I returned to collect them.

After a few frantic exchanges of texts with DH who undertook the route two years ago, I was beginning to consider options for rescue when up popped the face of my DGD at the car window! An answer to prayer! A passing dog walker had advised the only alternative was some stepping stones. Despite being rather wet and bedraggled (my daughter lost her footing but the water wasn’t deep) we were glad to be reunited and we were soon speeding back to hot drinks and showers!

Today they are travelling home to Crewe after a memorable holiday for many reasons!

I hope everyone is well, especially grandMattie. ???
