Which Royals have already been let off, and off what?

It must have affected the hotel bookings. Who would want to stay in a hotel run by a convicted sex pest?

I don't know if the rules are different in Scotland but that's standard in England if you've behaved yourself in prison. Unfortunately that length of sentence is also pretty standard. Playing Devil's advocate and while in no way diminishing his offence or the impact on his poor victim, at least he pleaded guilty, has acknowledged his full guilt, and expressed what seems to be genuine remorse, something many do not.

I thought it was going to be about Prince Andrew, so disappointed.

What’s the point of this thread exactly? If you had a second or third cousin whose child was guilty of a crime would you consider yourself in any way culpable for what happened?

Absolutely not!

I've never met some of my second or third cousins several times removed and wouldn't know them if I did.
Nor DH.

I know my cousins children. Went out for a meal with them plus partners a couple of weeks ago.

That's a bit of a non-sequitur Whitewave ?
I know the children of a couple of my cousins but have never met several cousins, removed or otherwise.
DH must have hundreds of cousins, second cousins, once removed etc. (I know from researching his family tree.) I've only met one.

It is usual to get released on licence half way through prison sentences.
I coukdnt open the link either.

I thought all criminals were allowed out after they served half of their sentence. It appears he’s related distantly to the Queen.

Cousin of the Queen ( and once removed) is not the same as royal though!

“Never let the facts get in the way of a good story” though

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 06-Aug-21 11:18:50

He is not a member of the Royal Family. He is merely related to the Queen. There were some equally silly stories about Kitty Spencer’s wedding being a Royal Wedding. No it wasn’t. Her aunt happened to marry the heir to the throne. I refuse to get my knickers in a knot before I check the facts... which is why I refuse to believe anything the tabloids print about the Sussexes!

Anniebach Fri 06-Aug-21 11:12:22

I have 19 first cousins, I do know the family of one, he and I were brought up together, no idea if the other 18 have families.

He is the son of a cousin of the Queen , so not a royal .

I don’t know my cousins children

I’m not sure Lord Muck of Glamis would qualify as a member of the RF. Cousin of the queen ? I would disown him , dirty man.

Aldom Fri 06-Aug-21 10:43:50

Same thing for me. So non the wiser. Except to agree that on the whole sentences are reduced in most cases.

mokryna Fri 06-Aug-21 10:41:11

Same here.

When I clicked on the link, "The page you are looking for does not exist" apparently

Good point MawBe

MawBe Fri 06-Aug-21 10:24:54

He is NOT royal! He's a Bowes-Lyon not RF
(Most sentences are reduced, very few offenders serve anything like their full term)

Newatthis Fri 06-Aug-21 10:11:36

So, I can't believe he only got 10 months in the first place but then to have the sentence halved! Looks like there are more advantages to being royal than just owning castles and having incredible wealth and privilege!
