Good Morning Everyone,
Its starting as a dry and clear day here in brackley this morning.
I want to see some of track cycling at the Olympics before I go on my first coach trip since the pandemic started in early 2020 .
Although it will be somewhat close to home to Windsor, when on arrival I will choose what I will do, and also hoping to meet old acquaintances from past coach trips.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all. The sun is shining in Polmont at the moment but there are clouds aplenty. Dwm I hope you feel better soon. Mick enjoy your trip. Gwenisgreat many sympathies. Watching the boy wonder two days a week is gruelling. That's a lovely dress Grandmajean. Very pretty. Baubles to my shame I have never visited New Lanark. I've always meant to get round to it. Have a nice time. Marydoll that's such good news about the anniversary card. Here's hoping for a softening of attitude. Pittcity I'll keep my fingers crossed that your builder turns up.
Yesterday I met two friends for lunch and we had a lovely time. Lots of catching up and putting the world to rights. I am very fortunate that I have really good pals.
Today I'm going to Aldi then housework. I also promised another lemon drizzle cake to my dd who is visiting with the boy wonder tomorrow. My aunt is coming too. It'll be lovely to see my aunt as she's been away up north for a month or so.
However you spend your day, I hope it's a good one.

Good morning from a rainy, cloudy Essex by the sea. It's such a shame as we are meant to be having a 'garden party' in the grounds of the flats where we live at lunchtime. We are only nine flats and thought a summer get together with cake, tea and wine would be nice. Not sure what we will do now.
Enjoy your day out Mick and I hope you meet up with people that you used to know.
DD1 and family arrived home from Devon yesterday and DD2 and family are in Rye in Sussex this weekend.
Best wishes to Laura and Dwmxwg and Marydoll. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. xx

Grandmafrench Sat 07-Aug-21 08:46:12

Good Morning everyone from the Med' where it's drizzling!!!!!!! What?!?!?!?! Well there goes my weeding plan - we soft Southerners no longer garden in the rain; in fact do very little that we don't want to any more. ?

Lovely new title for the thread, Mick. Even I know where I am now - sometimes I wake up and convinced it's a day it's not. Sometimes I fell I can't tell whether it's Tuesday or Easter, so this is definitely going to be an improvement. Enjoy your Windsor trip and hope you get to meet up with some old buddies after waiting so long.

DWM Be really good to yourself (yourself, for a change) and do something that makes you feel good and don't get too tired. Hoping you'll be back to normal in no time. x

Gelisa it would have been a 'one-note-humming day' for me - better for the neighbours than screaming. Gingster so much excitement - have a great time at the House of Fun.
Grandmajean, no risks now - wear a vest under that pretty frock. Gwen - well it probably keeps you fit....?

Harri my very elderly Mum had cream added to a lot of her food. She had small meals but lots of them and lots of treats.

I may do some sewing later and then, because the sun will always come out, we'll go for a walk on our newly sorted legs with our grateful dogs. Had a lovely surprise yesterday when the owner of the Refuge where we had found our Ludo (4 years ago) sent a photo of one of the dogs she has kept for life (one of 14!) The sweetest dog turns out to be Ludo's Mum. There's also a photo of his brother who lives in Provence. Ludo was found with his Mum and other litter pups in a forest where she had been abandoned (quite normal in this country). All the pups were homed but the wonderful English lady who runs the refuge kept his Mum because she wasn't in such good health. Turns out she had thyroid problems and so now does her little boy! Wish we could have guessed that a couple of years ago. He's fine now and on the right medication but for a time it was a bit of a struggle for him and for us.

Unlike our very soft little wimpy boy, Caline - his Mum - has had the odd instance of sneaking off into the countryside and having a confrontation with a wild boar. Have you seen the size of them? We once had to help move one which had got itself wedged on rocks in the middle of our river. It was enormous and best described as proper grumpy

Shall visit the butcher for some pork fillet today so we can have that with cream and prunes and sauté pots for Sunday supper.

Do hope you all have a super weekend, and you get all your visits, breaks, trips, reunions, weddings, etc., under way without any problem. Be sure to have a marvellous time - you've all earned it remember!

Stay safe, above all. ?‍♀️?????

Good morning from the Welsh coast, it is dry and cloudy. I didn't sleep well following an injection in my back yesterday, it wasn't as painful as previous ones though. I was told to avoid people as much as possible for two weeks as the steroid reduces my immunity to covid. So glad now that we grasped the nettle and went away for a short break earlier in the week. Ginny delighted to read yesterday that you enjoyed your stay at the Fingal, DS and his partner are celebrating as they are expecting a baby in January, our first grandchild.
They have tickets for a visit to the Royal Yacht today. DS's partner has a five year old daughter and she is a delight.
Glad to see you Dwm I've been wondering where you were, take care of yourself.
Shocked to read of your dash to hospital Laura, I'm sure your family are spoiling you now and rightly so.
We will watch the British and Irish Lions match later, good luck to them.
Have a good day everyone.

cornergran Sat 07-Aug-21 09:00:13

Morning Mick, morning All. Clouding over now after a bright start for our corner of Somerset.

A weekend with a task list to hand for us. I may - am likely to - procrastinate. Hope we can at least venture forth for coffee at some point.

Enjoy your trip mick, we’ve had one coach day trip since covid rules were eased and felt very safe. Pleased the family tension has eased madydoll. Sounds promising for cross channel relationships ash. Enjoy the wedding greyd, fingers crossed for sunshine for you and for your family grammaretto. Hope today is less stressful gelisajam. That’s a tale to regale your little one with when he’s adult gwen, it’s a good job we love them. It always amazes me how little people with little legs can move so quickly. You didn’t need a broken washing machine grandMattie, hope today is calmer.

Best get on with the day, procrastination may already have struck. Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning,

It’s a rather cloudy and breezy South Yorkshire at the moment, and rain showers are forecast.

Popping out later to help arrange some flowers in church for a special service being held there tomorrow. Not set foot in the building for months, so it will feel rather strange, I think, but I was asked if I would help and am happy to do so.

Other than that, not sure how the day will unfold, but there is some ironing beckoning so that might get done today.

Hope you all have a nice day, and enjoy your coach trip, mick.

B9exchange Sat 07-Aug-21 09:02:35

Good morning all, miserable weather this morning. DH and DS2 have just left for the two hour drive to Nottingham to watch the cricket at Trent Bridge. That's if the heavy showers predicted allow any!

Marydoll that is great news that siblings are making an effort, it tears me apart whem mine fall out, so I share your relief.

Laura my your recovery continue. Harrigran when I was nursing we were taught that
'ice cream is an excellent fattening food' worth a try?

My sewing machine treadle has suddenly packed up, and they are not making the model any more, do you think one from a different make with the same size jack might work?

Have a relaxing day everyone, with the odd flamingo popping by!

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 09:03:42

Lins, I can empathise with you. I once had facet joint block injections done on my spine and one part wasn't anaesthetised. I thought I was giving birth to an elephant, the pain was horrendous. I was washed out for days.
Be gentle with yourself , rest and let your family spoil you!

EkwaNimitee Sat 07-Aug-21 09:11:59

Good morning, Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where showers are forecast. We had a lot yesterday so I didn't get outside. What I do today depends on whether the showers are as bad as yesterday, if not it's gardening or a stroll plus I have a compost bin to put together without the aid of instructions....If it rains, then a campaign of self-improvement could start. I feel guilty about letting my Spanish get rusty which it has now that I no longer spend the winters there. Then a bit of exercise of mind and body could be on....
I hope all of you with difficulties and health problems find improvements and wish all the best possible day.

ginny Sat 07-Aug-21 09:24:58

Good morning. The weather seems to be having trouble making up its mind .
Lovely dress Grandmajean my favourite colour. Enjoy the celebration.
Mick have a great day out.
Thought to all with troubles and worries. I must remember to jot down names as I read through.
Not much planned today other than MIL coming for Lunch/dinner. She doesn’t like to eat a main meal in the evening.
We are thinking of a trip out tomorrow but can’t decide where to go. Maybe a NT property if they are not all booked up.
Hope ever finds a smile in the day.

hollysteers Sat 07-Aug-21 09:29:42

Good morning Mick and all from a dull Lancashire coast.
I too like the date stated, I get the year mixed up, never mind the date. I have had four coach trips since easing of restrictions and no problem (apart from turning up on the wrong day…)
Quiet day today, DD arrives from the south tomorrow for a few days, so will have a tickle round for that and might paint a card. Small things.
Although I have a myriad of chargers around, charging my iPad is proving difficult. I hope she’s not on the blink and it’s just not uncredited chargers.
harrigran and thoughts to all with troubles.

Dogsmakemesmile Sat 07-Aug-21 09:33:47

Morning from a still dry Scottish Borders. Looks like a deluge may happen shortly. Have a wonderful coach trip Mick. May have brief drive round town and sit in the car with a coffee. DH on call so so we can't go far. Watched Julian Festival Lecture 2021 on line yesterday. "All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of things..." is something of a mantra of mine. I was lucky enough to live in Norwich and returned there a few years ago. Beautiful place. Happy Saturday everyone.

Auntieflo Sat 07-Aug-21 09:46:02

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. The weather looks threatening and it seems to bode heavy showers again, as yesterday.
DD is coming sometime today to take a photo of our wedding certificate, so that she can organise a card from the Queen . Our wedding anniversary is next month. Where did those 60 years go. I must admit to thinking I may not make it early on this year, when I was given my diagnosis of bone cancer.
Enough wallowing!
Great big good wishes to LauraNorder and apologies for not mentioning her yesterday. Keep on getting better.
Also to DWM, Lins and all under the weather.
Great news re your family Marydoll, hope you see wee Dollie today.
I feel that a short break away would do us good, but have no ideas. All with hints and tips welcome, please.
Have a good day one and all.

GrannySomerset Sat 07-Aug-21 09:48:12

I think this site doesn’t want me to post as for the last couple of days I have to log in every time I read, making comment just that little bit harder. Don’t know why I am particularly persona non grata!

The death of one of my oldest friends has saddened me but DGD1 has emerged from the plague just in time for her best friend’s 18th birthday fest so happily life goes on. Much less interesting here but any day without a drama is OK by me.

Cloudy and quite cool so am not sure what the day will hold, but hope everyone with plans is successful.

amselerin Sat 07-Aug-21 09:48:39

Good morning Mick and all from warm Lueneburg.
I was so "moved" by all your encouraging comments regarding my coming house sale. "Maryd" , danke für deine lieben Worte. I was a bit overcome by it all, the sale, the move and everything involved by it. All your kind word made me feel positive about it all. Thanks.
I had some good news about my new house from the Sefton coast. My son, who lives in Cambride, is spending his holiday there this week. There are no beds or tables in the house. They are using their camping equipment. They love the area, the sea, the town and the people They said the people are very friendly. So, I shall try and get there in October. In September my granddaughter Emma has confirmation and that is a big family event.
I do hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Grandmajean Sat 07-Aug-21 09:50:13

Thank you ladies for the compliments about my dress. Unfortunately the company I got it from no longer exists. Shame , as they were great for Petites like me. I must look out a vestGrandmafrench and one of those liberty bodices with the rubber buttons which I wore in the 1950swink That should be a talking point at the party !
Harrigran I remember my daughter couldn't eat when she had chemotherapy for breast cancer and the hospital gave her steroid injections which definitely improved her appetite and helped her gain her weight back. This may not be suitable for your DH but I thought I'd mention it. Unfortunately, if someone doesn't feel like food then often nothing is tempting. It is very difficult and I do sympathise. The other possibility is trying him with slimming drinks which have all the nutrients you need and some calories. Hope you find a solution.

Nannagarra Sat 07-Aug-21 10:01:26

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is raining. It doesn’t look as if it will brighten up as it did yesterday when a wet morning turned into a glorious afternoon.
I hope you thoroughly enjoy your time in Windsor Mick. It’s a beautiful place. Fingers crossed that the weather is conducive to you wearing that really pretty dress Grandmajean. May today hold fewer demons and a happier outlook for you Dwm. I’m also sending healing thoughts to Laura, muse, Grandmafrench, Marydoll and many others I haven’t named.
One of my parents’ wedding presents in 1948 was a cookery book with a section on food for invalids. You may prefer the suggestions put forward up thread to those I could provide, harrigran. Alternatively, expect some really old remedies!
I think we should now be able to put Washingmachinegate behind us. We have reached the magic number of three - mine, MawBe’s, now grandMattie’s. Let that be an end to it…
Food shopping and batch cooking are on my agenda today.
Have a good one, lovely people.
???

Alygran Sat 07-Aug-21 10:04:56

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s bright and chilly.
I have an empty today. For the last 2 weeks I have been so busy every day, driving to see family, entertaining 12 year old DGS, tramping miles in the dale and visiting friends, I am exhausted!
Last night I was out with friends at the local jazz club. A great evening was had listening to live music. Sadly it’s closing temporarily as the numbers willing to attend won’t pay the bills.
Harri when DH was ill and rarely eating I found having things like fish and chips from the freezer a great help. Chocolate and cheese as snacks worked well too.
I haven’t jotted down all the names to mention so I will just say have a great day everyone. I intend to have a very quiet one.

Grandmafrench Sat 07-Aug-21 10:24:37

You're so right, GrannyS - any day without drama can be a good day. If it's any comfort, I've had endless cross and quite shouty attempts to log into Gransnet over the last couple of weeks. Sometimes nothing happens at all! Don't think it's personal, just damned annoying.

Grandmajean see, I recognised someone with real style straight away. We liberty bodice wearers need to stick together and start a new and exciting trend. Have a lovely time shocking all your friends !

Whenever do you wallow, Auntiflo? You must be the most uncomplaining and positive person ever and you are always thinking about others. A very memorable anniversary coming up. Congratulations on all those wonderful years!

Hope today is a good one Laura and you are making a huge effort to take it slowly and carefully.....your health is so important. Thank you for your wishes, NannaG and Still and have yourselves the best Saturday. xx

Good morning Mick and all Morningsters ?
Very grey skies in mid Cornwall.
Enjoy the coach trip Mick. Good to hear you having normality back around you. ?

I’m sprinkling flams ?throughout my post and the odd ?for those who only get a blank rectangle for a flam.

They’re all the latest fashion grandmajean. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the party. I’ve got my rollers in. ?

GrandMattie. Wow what a ridiculous amount for a call out fee.

Ashcombe. Why do all so many excellent restaurants \pubs and nurseries have to be down narrow lanes? I hold my breath as I’m driving down our Cornish lanes. They all have high banks too ?

Good to see your post Dwm.?? Keep reading and I do hope the demons clear.

Many ??? your family test negative NanKate. It’s still anxious times for many ??

Sapphire and brook. I’ve been watching the diving too and am in awe of Tom’s knitting and crocheting skills. I follow him on Instagram. May your knitting continue to grow you two. ?

I wonder how Mya would cope with a wild boar GF? Chase it ~ I guess. She chases everything. MrM has talked of wild boar for our wood. I’ve not encouraged him ?.

That’s very philosophical GrandmaS. Seeing life at both ends of the spectrum. Sad to lose a close friend though. My thoughts are with you ?

Do hope the diet works for your DH harrigran. ?

Time to rest my prodding index finger Morningsters. Take care and enjoy all you have planned for today.

MrM’s poor legs continue to improve but I wish this healing ❤️‍? process was quicker. He still has two monsterous ? dressings on. He’s currently swapping leg talk on the phone with his BiL.

??? for you all. Missing posters included.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 07-Aug-21 10:44:46

Morning Mick and all

It’s raining ☔️

Our eldest DS and wife are in the air winging their way back home from Kenya.

DH and I are off to buy a joint of beef for a roast for them tomorrow, will make an apple pie and cheesecake also.

For the first time in many many years all our babies will be in the same county, four within 5 mins of each other - yippee

The sad thing will be no hugging for a few days until they take the first of three PCR tests.

Will read all your posts later

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?
(I am so excited and happy)

maydonoz Sat 07-Aug-21 10:44:56

Good morning all from a dull and wet Welwyn, Herts. It looks like it will be a wet, wet day so no washing to deal with, at least.
We are missing our elderly neighbour who passed away suddenly about a week ago, I wrote about it on another thread at the beginning of the week. It's sad to see her empty house, no light on in the evening or the kitchen door open on hot days. I guess it's life and things change and we have to move on, and maybe in a year or so we'll have new neighbours.
As the older people pass on, we have many young families move in, to join the cycle of life.
I don't usually read or post here during the week, as there seems to be a lot going on, so am not familiar with everyone's situation.
Today, am busy making some strawberry jam, just a smallish amount and some broccoli soup so hope they both are delicious (as my DGD says), "delicious" is her new, favourite word.
Wishing you all a pleasant weekend and enjoy going out and socialising a bit more.

maydonoz Sat 07-Aug-21 10:49:52

GG13, just saw your post, how lovely for you, enjoy your family reunion, and plenty of hugs when the time is right. Happy days!

Blossoming Sat 07-Aug-21 10:58:28

Good morning all from a very soggy Lancashire. Hope you have a wonderful day out Mick. I have only skimmed the thread this morning as I had a bad night. I woke up in the wee small hours with a dreadfully painful right foot. It was fine when I went to bed, no idea what has caused it. I did have another fall, tripped over a tool box but didn’t hurt my foot then as far as I’m aware. Touching it is agony but I managed to get a compression sock on with a lot of cursing. Now sat with it propped up on a cushion, I will read GN properly now as surely I can’t get into any mischief doing that!

Grandmajean Sat 07-Aug-21 11:19:09

You'll recognise me at the partyMuse as my liberty bodice will be sticking out a bit at the top of my dress ! Everyone will be too polite to comment on us wink
