Good Morning Everyone,
Its starting as a dry and clear day here in brackley this morning.
I want to see some of track cycling at the Olympics before I go on my first coach trip since the pandemic started in early 2020 .
Although it will be somewhat close to home to Windsor, when on arrival I will choose what I will do, and also hoping to meet old acquaintances from past coach trips.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all from a dull Lancashire coast.
I too like the date stated, I get the year mixed up, never mind the date. I have had four coach trips since easing of restrictions and no problem (apart from turning up on the wrong day…)
Quiet day today, DD arrives from the south tomorrow for a few days, so will have a tickle round for that and might paint a card. Small things.
Although I have a myriad of chargers around, charging my iPad is proving difficult. I hope she’s not on the blink and it’s just not uncredited chargers.
harrigran and thoughts to all with troubles.

ginny Sat 07-Aug-21 09:24:58

Good morning. The weather seems to be having trouble making up its mind .
Lovely dress Grandmajean my favourite colour. Enjoy the celebration.
Mick have a great day out.
Thought to all with troubles and worries. I must remember to jot down names as I read through.
Not much planned today other than MIL coming for Lunch/dinner. She doesn’t like to eat a main meal in the evening.
We are thinking of a trip out tomorrow but can’t decide where to go. Maybe a NT property if they are not all booked up.
Hope ever finds a smile in the day.

Good morning, Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where showers are forecast. We had a lot yesterday so I didn't get outside. What I do today depends on whether the showers are as bad as yesterday, if not it's gardening or a stroll plus I have a compost bin to put together without the aid of instructions....If it rains, then a campaign of self-improvement could start. I feel guilty about letting my Spanish get rusty which it has now that I no longer spend the winters there. Then a bit of exercise of mind and body could be on....
I hope all of you with difficulties and health problems find improvements and wish all the best possible day.

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 09:03:42

Lins, I can empathise with you. I once had facet joint block injections done on my spine and one part wasn't anaesthetised. I thought I was giving birth to an elephant, the pain was horrendous. I was washed out for days.
Be gentle with yourself , rest and let your family spoil you!

B9exchange Sat 07-Aug-21 09:02:35

Good morning all, miserable weather this morning. DH and DS2 have just left for the two hour drive to Nottingham to watch the cricket at Trent Bridge. That's if the heavy showers predicted allow any!

Marydoll that is great news that siblings are making an effort, it tears me apart whem mine fall out, so I share your relief.

Laura my your recovery continue. Harrigran when I was nursing we were taught that
'ice cream is an excellent fattening food' worth a try?

My sewing machine treadle has suddenly packed up, and they are not making the model any more, do you think one from a different make with the same size jack might work?

Have a relaxing day everyone, with the odd flamingo popping by!

Mapleleaf Sat 07-Aug-21 09:00:27

Good morning,

It’s a rather cloudy and breezy South Yorkshire at the moment, and rain showers are forecast.

Popping out later to help arrange some flowers in church for a special service being held there tomorrow. Not set foot in the building for months, so it will feel rather strange, I think, but I was asked if I would help and am happy to do so.

Other than that, not sure how the day will unfold, but there is some ironing beckoning so that might get done today.

Hope you all have a nice day, and enjoy your coach trip, mick.

Morning Mick, morning All. Clouding over now after a bright start for our corner of Somerset.

A weekend with a task list to hand for us. I may - am likely to - procrastinate. Hope we can at least venture forth for coffee at some point.

Enjoy your trip mick, we’ve had one coach day trip since covid rules were eased and felt very safe. Pleased the family tension has eased madydoll. Sounds promising for cross channel relationships ash. Enjoy the wedding greyd, fingers crossed for sunshine for you and for your family grammaretto. Hope today is less stressful gelisajam. That’s a tale to regale your little one with when he’s adult gwen, it’s a good job we love them. It always amazes me how little people with little legs can move so quickly. You didn’t need a broken washing machine grandMattie, hope today is calmer.

Best get on with the day, procrastination may already have struck. Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning from the Welsh coast, it is dry and cloudy. I didn't sleep well following an injection in my back yesterday, it wasn't as painful as previous ones though. I was told to avoid people as much as possible for two weeks as the steroid reduces my immunity to covid. So glad now that we grasped the nettle and went away for a short break earlier in the week. Ginny delighted to read yesterday that you enjoyed your stay at the Fingal, DS and his partner are celebrating as they are expecting a baby in January, our first grandchild.
They have tickets for a visit to the Royal Yacht today. DS's partner has a five year old daughter and she is a delight.
Glad to see you Dwm I've been wondering where you were, take care of yourself.
Shocked to read of your dash to hospital Laura, I'm sure your family are spoiling you now and rightly so.
We will watch the British and Irish Lions match later, good luck to them.
Have a good day everyone.

Grandmafrench Sat 07-Aug-21 08:46:12

Good Morning everyone from the Med' where it's drizzling!!!!!!! What?!?!?!?! Well there goes my weeding plan - we soft Southerners no longer garden in the rain; in fact do very little that we don't want to any more. ?

Lovely new title for the thread, Mick. Even I know where I am now - sometimes I wake up and convinced it's a day it's not. Sometimes I fell I can't tell whether it's Tuesday or Easter, so this is definitely going to be an improvement. Enjoy your Windsor trip and hope you get to meet up with some old buddies after waiting so long.

DWM Be really good to yourself (yourself, for a change) and do something that makes you feel good and don't get too tired. Hoping you'll be back to normal in no time. x

Gelisa it would have been a 'one-note-humming day' for me - better for the neighbours than screaming. Gingster so much excitement - have a great time at the House of Fun.
Grandmajean, no risks now - wear a vest under that pretty frock. Gwen - well it probably keeps you fit....?

Harri my very elderly Mum had cream added to a lot of her food. She had small meals but lots of them and lots of treats.

I may do some sewing later and then, because the sun will always come out, we'll go for a walk on our newly sorted legs with our grateful dogs. Had a lovely surprise yesterday when the owner of the Refuge where we had found our Ludo (4 years ago) sent a photo of one of the dogs she has kept for life (one of 14!) The sweetest dog turns out to be Ludo's Mum. There's also a photo of his brother who lives in Provence. Ludo was found with his Mum and other litter pups in a forest where she had been abandoned (quite normal in this country). All the pups were homed but the wonderful English lady who runs the refuge kept his Mum because she wasn't in such good health. Turns out she had thyroid problems and so now does her little boy! Wish we could have guessed that a couple of years ago. He's fine now and on the right medication but for a time it was a bit of a struggle for him and for us.

Unlike our very soft little wimpy boy, Caline - his Mum - has had the odd instance of sneaking off into the countryside and having a confrontation with a wild boar. Have you seen the size of them? We once had to help move one which had got itself wedged on rocks in the middle of our river. It was enormous and best described as proper grumpy

Shall visit the butcher for some pork fillet today so we can have that with cream and prunes and sauté pots for Sunday supper.

Do hope you all have a super weekend, and you get all your visits, breaks, trips, reunions, weddings, etc., under way without any problem. Be sure to have a marvellous time - you've all earned it remember!

Stay safe, above all. ?‍♀️?????

Good morning from a rainy, cloudy Essex by the sea. It's such a shame as we are meant to be having a 'garden party' in the grounds of the flats where we live at lunchtime. We are only nine flats and thought a summer get together with cake, tea and wine would be nice. Not sure what we will do now.
Enjoy your day out Mick and I hope you meet up with people that you used to know.
DD1 and family arrived home from Devon yesterday and DD2 and family are in Rye in Sussex this weekend.
Best wishes to Laura and Dwmxwg and Marydoll. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. xx

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Aug-21 08:32:15

Good morning all. The sun is shining in Polmont at the moment but there are clouds aplenty. Dwm I hope you feel better soon. Mick enjoy your trip. Gwenisgreat many sympathies. Watching the boy wonder two days a week is gruelling. That's a lovely dress Grandmajean. Very pretty. Baubles to my shame I have never visited New Lanark. I've always meant to get round to it. Have a nice time. Marydoll that's such good news about the anniversary card. Here's hoping for a softening of attitude. Pittcity I'll keep my fingers crossed that your builder turns up.
Yesterday I met two friends for lunch and we had a lovely time. Lots of catching up and putting the world to rights. I am very fortunate that I have really good pals.
Today I'm going to Aldi then housework. I also promised another lemon drizzle cake to my dd who is visiting with the boy wonder tomorrow. My aunt is coming too. It'll be lovely to see my aunt as she's been away up north for a month or so.
However you spend your day, I hope it's a good one.

Stilllearning Sat 07-Aug-21 08:27:22

Morning from a sunny S,Lanarkshire, plenty of rain forecast which will involve much emptying of the bucket which is catching the rain from the roof of my new garden room until a new drain is in place. I was going to leave this till the spring but the heavy rain recently is causing me a rethink!

Sending good wishes to you LauraNorder and to dwmxwg?.?

Me eldest DD is coming to visit this afternoon to inspect my new retreat. No DGC today, both working at their summer jobs. I will miss seeing them but it will mean we can have a good blether. I have made the raspberry and chia jam which will definitely impress her, I am no Delia!

Hope all your medical appointments are satisfactory Grandmafrench and wishing everyone the best of days ??

Grammaretto Sat 07-Aug-21 08:26:22

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders. I hope the rain keeps off as I am hosting a cousin reunion brunch in my garden later this morning.
DGD are both tiny bridesmaids today at their auntie's wedding so I really hope the day is fine for them. It has all been postponed a year already. Everyone's fingers are crossed.

I hope you enjoy your coach trip Mick the first of many.

I haven't been to New Lanark for years but we used to enjoy it there immensely baubles

I feel your joy Marydoll. Wanting the DC to appreciate eachother is top of my wish list.

I have watched the diving thanks BlueSapphire - amazing. Thanks.

Beechnut Sat 07-Aug-21 08:25:43

Good morning everyone from sunny Severnside. Rain is forecast but looks far from it at the moment.

LauraNorder glad to hear you’re well enough to be back home.

I don’t know what happened with me last night. I fell asleep in the chair and it was 4:10am when I got into bed and have not long woken up.

Whatever I do today will depend on the weather. Tying up a teasel needs doing as it’s bent over onto the runner beans and they are spiteful plants. I will finish my book too, it’s a strange one, keeps jumping about with different character chapters and I have to think ‘Now who are they?’ ?

Good sibling news Marydoll.
Have a good day all and enjoy wearing your pretty dress Grandmajean ?

Greyduster Sat 07-Aug-21 08:14:43

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Mick I hope you enjoy your coach trip. I would love to go to Windsor. Back in a cloudy but dry South Yorkshire, it was nice to sleep in one’s own bed, but we loved Northumberland. Our third visit, I hope it won’t be our last. Today we are going to a family wedding in a lovely village on the edge of the city. Fingers crossed for a dry day. After that, all “busyness” and dashing about will cease for the foreseeable and we can put our feet up for a bit until we prepare for the decorator to come in. Have a good day, one and all !

Anniebach Sat 07-Aug-21 08:13:09

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

brook2704 Sat 07-Aug-21 08:08:32

gwenisgreat I know that feeling, such a challenge looking after little ones!

Gelisajams Sat 07-Aug-21 08:02:54

Good morning from a cloudy Morecambe Bay. Enjoy your trip Mick. I hope your friends are like minded and you meet up!
Ash Yahoo!
I’m hoping for a better day today. I think Mr G is tired after the holiday and all the driving but he woke in a bad mood yesterday.
DGD was supposed to be staying over for the weekend. I went off to buy some bits I had forgotten when I did my Sainsbury’s order. When I got back they had arrived and DGD was playing happily but as soon as her mum got up to go she had the screaming ab dabs!
Instead of leaving her mum took her back home. Mum had said she was clingy at the moment.
Then I did my last washing from the holiday. Someone had left a wedge of tissues in their pocket. No names mentioned! If that wasn’t bad enough the clothes airer collapsed fully laden and broke!
I know many on here have far worse problems! Stay safe and take care everyone ?

harrigran Sat 07-Aug-21 07:58:46

Good morning from the NE where it has clouded over after a sunny start.
My sister will visit this afternoon, bringing me an apple pie and freshly made curry sauce from a local manufacturer. Since I discovered these sauces I have been making my own curries rather than buying takeaway meals.
I am trying to feed DH high calorie food hoping he will gain a little weight, difficult as he has a poor appetite. I supplement the tiny meals with Fortisip drinks which contain vitamins and minerals but would welcome any suggestions for invalid food.
Have a good weekend and you all dodge the heavy showers that are forecast.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 07-Aug-21 07:57:55

Good morning all from bright Harrogate
Yesterday I was exhausted after having DGS. I had an appointment to pick up new specs. I was going to change the appointment but DH (who refused to look after him on his own at home) decided he would supervise him in the shop. We took him to M&S for a drink beforehand. Mistake - I took off his reins to try to get his Kagoule off, but the little horror took off with DH in hot pursuit. Eventually grabbed him as he ran in a lift full of people just before the doors shut - mental note no M&S again. He is a dear little boy, but a menace!! Consequently I just didn’t get a chance to catch up on GN after my post.
grandMattie. Might it be worth finding a local repairer for electrical goods? We have a father and son who we call out (no call out charges) they are very knowledgeable about domestic appliances and usually find a cheap way of fixing things.
Today I shall finish clearing the mess caused by yesterday’s visitor, and do a bit is sewing as well.
Have a good weekend everyone

brook2704 Sat 07-Aug-21 07:57:49

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and cloudy but with a few showers forecast
I hope you enjoy your coach trip mick and you meet up with some friends
Me too Bluesapphire I’ve one eye on the tv watching the diving and the other eye on here. It’s very tense and good luck to Tom Daley
We’ve nothing much planned today, hoping to catch up on some jobs about the house and if it’s not raining continue my battle with the weeds in the garden.
Hope you’re feeling better soon dwm it’s good to see you posting, even just to say hello
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Grandmajean Sat 07-Aug-21 07:57:38

Bit drizzly and cool here in Cheshire this morning. Hope it improves tomorrow as going to good friends' Golden Wedding celebration at local golf club and lots of fresh air is planned ! My dress is flimsy and hadn't really planned on wearing a jacket but might have to cramp my style and give in.
Sending you warm wishes for better timesDWM

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 07:55:32

Baubles, that was a favourite place of ours, when the children were young. A great day out. I remember studying about Robert Owen at school, a man way ahead of his time.
Do they still sell the wool, which is made there?

baubles Sat 07-Aug-21 07:50:51

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

We were lucky with the weather yesterday during our visit to New Lanark which is an 18th century purpose built mill village. I’d asked my sister if there was anywhere in particular she’d like to visit and this was her choice as she remembered us taking her there years ago. It’s so picturesque and interesting, the day was warm and we missed all the showers. I’ve no idea what we’ll do today though.

Here’s a link if anyone would like to read about it.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Lanark

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 07:49:11

Good morning lovely people from a cloudy and muggy Glasgow.

Mick enjoy your bus trip and I do hope you find some company! We received details of day trips, but I’m not allowed to do so, until I get my third jag/jab. sad There was one to The Lakes and also one to North Berwick, which appealed to us.

Meine, deutsche Freundin, es tut mir leid, von deinen Sorgen zu hören, pass auf dich auf! (I know I may have the agreements wrong!!!)
Also, sending my very best wishes to Dwmxwg and Laura. Laura, I hope Orlin is spoiling you! ?

Nothing really to report and a quiet weekend in store. DD is off to Inveraray to celebrate her first wedding anniversary so we will get peace. wink We are a bit concerned the Rest and be Thankful road may be closed again, to the torrential rain yesterday, she really doesn’t have much luck!!!

Kate, thanks, I saw your advice, just as I was going to bed. It has died down slightly, but still sooooo irritating! Thank you all, who took time to send suggestions. DH now has some in an unmentionable place!!! blush and NO, we don’t have fleas!!! ?

Some of you will remember, both the angst and joy related to the glorious wedding in our garden this time last year To my utter joy, DS1 and DIL sent DD and SIL, (unprompted by me) an anniversary card and those who know the background will realise that this is a small step towards a rapprochement. It has lifted my sad heart immensely. So much so that if I feel OK, I will pluck up courage and may venture up to DS1’s to see my beloved Dollie tomorrow, without any fear of rejection.

Before she could rest easy on her break, DD insisted I take a Covid test, as I was so unwell yesterday. I did feel pretty grim! This was despite my protestations that I haven’t been anywhere, so how could I have Covid? Anyway, it was negative, as I knew it would be, but she had already sown some seeds of doubt in my mind.

You know that thing on GN, when someone posts AIBU …. Well, I find my self wondering whether to start a thread. wink.
Our neighbour’s dog is very adept at finding lost golf balls, so my neighbour , kindly, surprisingly ( he is a bit snooty) gave Mr MDoll and the Ebay Queen’s husband, (DH’s golfing partner) two huge bags of lost and then found golf balls, which the dog had found on the course. They were probably DH’s in the first place! wink

I suggested that they thank him by giving a box of sweets or something. The Ebay king gave a bottle of wine and I gave DH a tub of Quality Street to give to our neighbour. Here comes the AIBU bit. Was I being unreasonable, when I lost the plot, after DH ripped off the cellophane seal round the box, before he delivered them. He thought it was just a bit of Sellotape and didn’t realise it was the seal!! ? I am mortified, as it looked as if he had been dipping in to them, prior to handing them over! blush.
Yet another course I will have to write for *Miss MaryDoll’s Correction Class for Hapless Husbands wink

Wishing you all, the best of days whatever, you are doing!
