Good morning everyone from a dry Northampton, but showers are forecast from late morning.

I am just watching Tom Daley in the Olympics diving final, and keeping my fingers crossed, hoping for another medal. Nothing much else planned for today, so I expect it will be wall to wall Olympics, and the Saturday papers. Oh, and finish my newly knitted jumper; just a couple of rows to finish off the neckline, then join the remaining seams. Then I have a new project to start, a poncho for winter.

Have a lovely day in Windsor, Mick, I would love to book a day out, but am still a bit wary of going on a coach.

Hoping all have a good weekend.

Aberystwyth tomorrow for a few days. Family are staying in Borth neither DS or DiL drive so we will take some of their luggage, they will go by train with the boys.

Good morning from rainy Colchester. Forecast to be a wet day.
Our previously postponed builder is supposed to be coming back today to remove our excess back door and replace it with a wall and window. Our gutters were replaced yesterday haven't checked how they coped with the overnight rain.

Sending hugs to everyone x

Good Morning Mick and all from a wet S Hants, it’s been heavy rain on and off during the night. MrJ is playing golf later in a charity match, he’ll get wet, I just hope there’s no storms or play will stop. I’ve got washing to do and not much else.
Have a lovely trip Mick and hopefully a catch up. ? for negative tests NanKate. Sorry to hear Dwmxwg, may you soon recover. Ashcombe busy, busy! I’m going to pm you.
Have a lovely day all with families, if you’re out and about or quietly enjoying time at home x

Good morning Mick and All.

A cloudy day here in South Bucks.

My DS and DGSs are due to arrive on Monday for 5 days for their annual hols, HOWEVER they all went for a Covid test yesterday as a cough, cold and sickness has been going through the family. I’m waiting till tomorrow before I do the big food shop just in case they can’t make it. Fingers crossed they can come. We are so missing them.

Mary if you didn’t see my message on yesterday’s GM the shortened answer for insect bits (of which I am a regular sufferer) Anthisan cream, Sudocrem and a little yellow clicker device from Boots which you use shortly after being bitten.

An early good morning from the Suffolk coast.
We had a surprise yesterday lunchtime when DD, her twin boys (15) and her little Dd arrived a day early. They thought they would give us a lovely surprise. And it was.! Luckily I had done all the preps and cooked a chicken and ham, so they were fed and watered. Our two DS’s and their families will be arriving this morning for the weekend.

We had a wander along the beach and saw the dark clouds approaching. We started back but got absolutely drenched so clothes in my new tumble drier (?) and a quick rub down. Not a great start! The forecast is bad so we’ll play it by ear today.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.☔️

Good morning from north Surrey
I have not posted for a while and not been reading posts either. Yesterday i was busy on the computer and checked in and read some of the posts
GrandMattie so sorry to read of your worries, and I do hope DH is now on the right medications and back to himself and that your family are visiting very soon
Marydoll you write so eloquently of your thoughts and feelings and I am sure that I am not the only poster who is both interested and feels empathy with you
I have not posted as I am having my own “demons” at the moment and need to sort my head out. It will pass as it has done before and I look forward to being back in the Good Morning family very soon
Best wishes to you all

Good morning all from a chilly Whiddon Down.

Thank you to all who posted supportive comments about my family’s “soggy” experience yesterday. The outcome could have been a great deal worse had they not encountered a dog walker with local knowledge. They are now safely home in Crewe, having left early, thus avoiding being caught up in any queues of returning holidaymakers.

Within hours of their departure, some old friends from my days in Staffordshire arrived to stay for a few days so we enjoyed catching up before going out for a delicious meal at the restaurant where I went with my family on Wednesday. I like the place but not the narrow road that must be negotiated to reach it!

Today they’re hoping to visit Castle Drogo whilst I pack for home, where I’m looking forward to Zooming with DH, olddudders. Possible visits will be on the agenda…!

amselerin: it must be difficult to leave a house you’ve known for so long but you’ll always have with you the memories from those years.
Belated birthday greetings to Scentia ?????
It sounds like you had a day of highs and lows, cornergran.
I hope you found something to relieve those nasty bites, Marydoll and that the drug you need continues to be available. You don’t need any more worries!
It’s sad that you had to cancel your cruise, GrannyGravy13 and I hope you can rearrange before too long.
That sounds like a lovely trip to Oxford, Lins1066.
I hope you and Mr.grandMattie continue to recover well, LauraNorder; good that family rallied round. A stunning photo!
Enjoy your trip, Mick!

.Happy weekend, everyone! ???

grandMattie Sat 07-Aug-21 06:19:05

Meant to add - enjoy your tour Mick

grandMattie Sat 07-Aug-21 06:16:41

Good morning from dry E Kent.
Washing machine went wrong yesterday, couldn’t undo screw for filter. So, DH called the brand helpline. To say we were bludgeoned into having a DD for at least a year to avoid the +/- £200 call out and mend fee would be an understatement! Anyway someone is coming on Tuesday.
Nothing much happening today - usual stuff, though unusually we shall watch the men’s madison in cycling this morning.
Hope all is well, or we’ll enough, with everyone. Happy birthday/anniversary to those celebrating. May you encounter a flamboyance of flamingos ????

Good Morning Everyone,
Its starting as a dry and clear day here in brackley this morning.
I want to see some of track cycling at the Olympics before I go on my first coach trip since the pandemic started in early 2020 .
Although it will be somewhat close to home to Windsor, when on arrival I will choose what I will do, and also hoping to meet old acquaintances from past coach trips.
Take Care,
Mick
