No ice cream van around here, but we do have one of the best ice cream shops in Scotland not all that far away. On a nice day, the queues outside are huge! I love their pistachio ice cream. I'm also a big fan of Turkish dondurma ice cream, which has a uniquely chewy texture. Sour cherry is my favourite flavour.
We were on holiday in what we thought was a ‘typical hill village’ in Cyprus. On the first day an elderly lady came past with her herd of goats, followed shortly after by an ice cream van chiming Popeye. The lady and her goats and the ice cream van came daily throughout our stay. Both unexpected; each brought a smile.
Ice creams my go to treat when I'm not feeling too well. For me it has to be Kelly's Clotted Cream Vanilla, I can't stand the smell of chocolate let alone the taste.
Our ice cream van is around every day no matter what the weather or the time of year. He blasts out half the neighbourhood with 'Football Crazy' to the point you can't hear yourself think.
Morrison's salted caramel is delicious too Grannywannynanny. Same price. They were doing 2 packs for £1.50 a while back. I got as many in the freezer as I could.
Thanks for the tip off muse Now I know where to go when the shelf is bare in Tesco.
It does sound lovely, doesn't it? I actually took the plunge and was going to have the Ferrero a while back, but he had run out, so I went for my usual mint choc chip.
Love ice cream, hazelnut my favourite but hard to find. Had black cherry sorbet in France last time I was there and that was wonderful and finally about 20 years ago I came across Marzipan which I have never found since. Superb. I really don’t like our usual strawberry chocolate or vanilla options. Very boring given the wonderful flavours around. Ps Ferrero ice cream sounds really good ?.
I love ice cream/ gelato. In the summer I have DH and I have one most days when sat watching TV. When out and about I love trying different and unusual flavours. My all time favourite was fig in Florence. The ice cream there is to die for. Also in Pisa I had a refreshing pink grapefruit sorbet if that can be counted. Other favourite flavours was rhubarb and custard in the Lakes and a yummy coconut in an ice cream parlour a few weeks ago in Llandudno.
Miss Adventure: we have lavender ice-cream here in the south of France, I don’t like it, and I LOVE ice-cream! No ice-cream vans here, sadly, I used to love hearing their chimes when I was a child. My mother used to give me sixpence, and I was always first in the queue for a 99 ( there was only vanilla at that time) This was in the late 1950’s in South Wales.
Love it in small portions, I usually ask for child's size scoop. No ice cream truck here.
Favourite is probably butterscotch ripple, although in Maui I had a pineapple coconut that was heavenly. I also love an ice cream sandwich. Not sure if they have them in the UK. Vanilla ice cream between two chocolate biscuits.
Judes icecream 500ml Chocolate and Cherry was on offer in Sainsburys the other week. I bought some with my online delivery intending to eat a small amount daily and save some for GCs but it was so lovely before I knew it I'd eaten the whole tub. I didnt even feel guilty, just happy.
Love it. Buy Kelly's clotted cream and their honeycombe one when they are on offer.

No van for miles but I do see Kelly's van on a beach I go to the family when they are down here. 99 every time.
Favourite flavour - Rum and Raisin. Best I ever had was is from an Italian parlour in Falmouth.
