Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey looking but dry here in Brackley this morning, yesterdays trip out to Bicester and Buckingham altered as I returned back direct from Bicester due to weather.
Today easy day in , prepare lunch ,and settle down and watch the Vuelta this afternoon on TV .
Mind you , yesterday rain showers felt like monsoon conditions as it was warm , due to Europe being in a extreme weather situation .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning all. It looks like rain in Polmont this morning and it is much cooler. I've put the heating on for a quick blast.
We had a lovely family meal celebrating mum's birthday last night. The meal was delicious and the company more so. I've got a chicken roasting and I'll make stock with the carcass later. Pineapple upside down cake too. My thoughts are with Phoenix today. I hope you all have a good day.

Scentia Sun 15-Aug-21 08:24:36

I have missed whatever is going on with Phoenix so sorry❤️

Good morning all from a grey S Hants. Pleased oldudders is getting some sleep Ash, I’ve asked GNHQ to investigate why my phots are recently posting sideways, no explanation yet.
Looked around the maisonette DS and his GF are decorating yesterday, they have some garden which I can sense will be my project. Runner beans here too and green tomatoes, we need more sun, I might go blackberry picking later. Other than that, crossword, towels to wash if the cloud lifts. My thoughts too are with phoenix.
Have a gentle day all x

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Aug-21 08:27:30

Scentia ‘Well, what a surprise’post.

GrannySomerset Sun 15-Aug-21 08:34:18

Have DD, DSiL and DGD1 with us so little time for posting as am kept on my toes. Serious lectures about how I can’t go on like this but no useful suggestions about how to navigate the appropriate help, so am left feeling a failure but with no clear route forward.

DH has enjoyed the company but finds it tiring so once they leave later today he can slump for a while. In the meantime I need to start the process of getting him up and ready to face the day. He had another crashing fall yesterday - no damage fortunately but his confidence is hurt and he needs gentle handling.

Must read what everyone is up to and hope for a good day for all of us.

Morning all from a dull but dry start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Yesterdays weather although sunny was quite cold I sneaked the heating on just to take the cold air off the house we’ve got the lovely cousins staying over I'm sure they’ll be cold. That’s himself getting ready for a golf tournament he’s so excited it’s been a long time coming. Hoping he doesn’t waken up tonight with horrible cramp in his legs which happens quite often after a game of golf. He’s meant to drink loads of tonic water with quinine but then that’ll make him take several pit stops during the night if you know what I mean but it’ll be well worth it cause he’ll have had a lor a lor o laughs with his long lost friends plus a tipple or two or three grin

I’ll just cosy in and watch an ancient black and white film on the utube chanel I might even gorge on these chocolates I started on yesterday.smile

Have a lovely day y’all were moving forward up up and up. sunshine

Nannagarra Sun 15-Aug-21 08:38:26

Good morning from the Sefton coast where the sun shines.
I’m cuddling up with a cockapoo who needs to go out so I’ll be brief. Later I intend to read of your busyness.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the sky is looking looking rather dull.

Yesterday’s shopping trip with DGD2 was so enjoyable, she takes time to think about parting with her birthday money and in the end made a couple of very sensible purchases. We went from the shops to her house as DH and I were on babysitting duties last night.as DD & SiL were having their first night out with friends in a very long time.

Like your outfit Scentia, I wear my denim jacket often, it goes with so many things. I avoid the double denim thing too Grandmajean!

Lovely pinafore Gwen.

I’m planning on having a rest today so I’ll see what I fancy doing as the day goes on.

Thinking of Phoenix today, I’m sorry to hear that her party won’t happen.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning everyone, overcast here in SW Herts today. Glad OldUdders is improving Ash, and you daughter finds ways of coping with the cataracts. DH uses the difficulty in driving at night as an excuse not to drive anywhere where there might be the odd drink involved!
So sad about Phoenix, will be thinking of her at church today.

DS was very pleased with his cake, and even the very fussy GD ate a crumb or too. Sorry there wasn't enough for everyone, perhaps next year grin

We might venture to the garden centre today which has a 50% off sale on. If we get to France next month we will be having the retired landscape gardeners back to look after cats, and now feel the pressure to leave them something to look after!

Hoping for a bit of sun, and something cheerful for everyone today.

Good morning everyone from a very grey and overcast Northampton. Have had a bit of a lie-in this morning.

Yesterday was brightened by a text from a friend asking if I'd like to go with her to a plant and craft sale, which I jumped at. Spent a pleasant time there but I didn't buy anything. Had it been earlier in the season I would have bought one of their planted-up hanging baskets which were quite pretty. We then went to a nearby clothing store as friend needed soft shoes for her musical theatre class, which she duly found. I also came away with new underwear plus a pretty yellow cardigan which caught my eye!

Spent the afternoon cutting back an overgrown climbing hydrangea before it took up residence in the roof above the study. Then sat in the garden with my kindle and finished my book. I can now start my next book club read.

Will be more gardening this afternoon I think, and the Sunday papers and puzzles.

I too have missed the news about Phoenix. Thoughts to all with worries.

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 15-Aug-21 09:32:51

Overcast but looks promising. Good morning everyone. Hard to listen to the news at the moment and so conscious of how lucky I am. Tomorrow DH and I will look after our two grandchildren as mum returns to work. They have moved house since I last did the childcare so it will be an adventure working out where things are. My crutches will amuse them! Have just baked some bread. Soup next. Off to our allotment which is really a raised bed as an allotment was actually beyond us. I wish you all a peaceful Sunday.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Aug-21 09:44:01

Morning Mick and all

Blue sky here in S E Essex.

I only managed two hours sleep last night, feel dreadfully tired.

Thinking of Phoenix ???

Keep safe and well folks (hold your family that little bit closer ?)

Alizarin Sun 15-Aug-21 09:51:08

Good morning from a drizzly south Cornwall.

I may be absent for a few days. I am very fond of the Plymouth people, having lived and worked there, and am reeling from the shooting. And then yesterday afternoon the air ambulance went over my flat and landed on our main beach, where my son and little grandson witnessed a man dying after being pulled out of the sea. I feel so sad for all the people involved and don't feel like chatting. Back here eventually. Meanwhile, have the best days you can everyone.

EkwaNimitee Sun 15-Aug-21 09:53:04

Good morning, Mick and all from cool rainy Carlisle. Well, that has ruled the planned gardening out even if I hadn't woken with a headache. I'm wondering if that was due to the smell of linseed oil which hung about yesterday. I'd carried on to apply it to a nest of tables and a cabinet and left my french windows open but it's a rather penetrating pong.
I'm going to have a quiet pottering sort of day. Shocked and saddened by the news I've just heard from Afghanistan.
Wishing you all well.

Grandmafrench Sun 15-Aug-21 09:54:05

Good Morning from ?? where, yes Mattie, it’s Assomption today. Another day when families get together. Dates are fixed and since this 15th August is a Sunday this year (and people here aren’t compensated with another day off work if public holidays fall on a weekend) - there’ll be the usual disappointment of another day off lost! France has more Public Holidays than one can imagine!

A brilliantly hot and blue day here where big cushions and garden furniture will be well used, there’ll be books and cold drinks and sunscreen a’plenty; and the sounds of neighbourhood splashing and pool- bombing Swallows will feature and fill the air.

To anyone off on holiday soon - squeeze every bit of enjoyment out of the time away, to those fully occupied at home - make sure you take some time to do just what you want. Families are fun but they can take it out of you when you revert to ‘Mum to all again’.

Maybe suggest to your DC’s, GrannyS, that some positive ideas as to the way forward, from them, might help more than stating what is obvious to all - especially you! We can all talk about ‘help’ in general terms, but organising some of that is what you need help with now, and well before both of you become their responsibility. Have a decent day and put your feet up when you can. ?

Not many hours now before the professionals come up with a treatment plan for your DH, Ash - cross those fingers for him that his serious pain episodes will be fixed!

Happy Sunday to you all, be careful, be good and look for your own special sunbeams.

Hello everyone! I' m on a gentle simmer as my son will arrive some time today. He's probably underway right now. It's sure been a long gap. Weather grey (but I don't care!) here up north. Might manage a potter in the garden and a wee walk. Have to quell the impatience. Can't stop thinking of Phoenix but more with admiration than sympathy. Have decided not to mention her again after today. She knows.........

Nannytopsy Sun 15-Aug-21 10:15:19

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Only just woken after a really busy week. We had visitors Friday/Saturday, DD & SIL tonight and more visitors tomorrow until Wednesday. It’s lovely to be seeing people again and to be able to share our “new” home but 7 in 6 days? Really?!
DD is bringing her dog for us to look after, so Charlie Cat I’m off to the cattery. It’s safer that way! Having the dog here will make me walk which will do me good as my hips are very “tight” and get achy.
GrannySomerset I agree that you should turn the advice from your family round and tell them to help you organise the help you need.
I should be helping at a WI stall at the village fair so really should get up!
Thinking of Phoenix.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

I have just heard that a very dear friend has died of cardiac arrest in the Netherlands. I am reeling from the shock.

Marydoll Sun 15-Aug-21 10:21:16

Dragonfly, what terrible news for you to receive. ?

Georgesgran Sun 15-Aug-21 10:25:51

Good morning from a grey, wet Durham. Expecting SiL today - she’s staying for a week but she’s a serial shopper which is my nightmare scenario! I’ve a funeral on Tuesday which means the shopping will take a break. I’m in a beautiful part of England but she’s not bothered about any of it and would only be interest to hear about Grace Darling if it was a new franchise in John Lewis!
Still, in view of some news this morning - it’s trivial and for a week, I shall have to put up and shut up.

Gelisajams Sun 15-Aug-21 10:50:59

Good morning from a damp cool Morecambe Bay. Have been in bed continuing our deliberations about getting an electric car. We were late to bed for the same reason. DH spent yesterday studying all sorts of financial options and we ended up with our head spinning and no nearer a resolution. The simplest option would be to keep our 4 year old hybrid Yaris for a few more years.
Sorry to hear about your friend Dragonfly your not having it easy at the moment. ?
Take care and stay safe everyone ???

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Aug-21 11:13:44

Dragonfly that's very sad news for you.

Blossoming Sun 15-Aug-21 11:16:21

Good morning all from a cloudy Lancashire. Glad your husband is feeling more comfortable Ashcombe , beautiful photos. Great outfit Scentia, you look comfortable and relaxed. Not much planned for today, rain is forecast so will be dodging showers on my walk again. Enjoy your Sunday all ?

hollysteers Sun 15-Aug-21 12:00:54

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers Lancashire coast. Sneaking in before I turn into a pumpkin or whatever the daytime equivalent is.
Condolences dragonfly, sad news indeed. My brother in law’s companion has been taken to hospital this morning so awaiting news there.
Lovely day yesterday at a watercolour demonstration in town. He was so quick and adept, washes of colour turning into beautiful skies and sea, felt inspired. Then I had a nice lunch of scampi with salad and a chat with the owner, picking up after a difficult time with covid. A little shopping then home on the bus. I must use the bus more often, no parking bother and also seeing people. On the way back, I thought I had caught the wrong bus, as it meandered around a different route, but no, it was the same number bus with an A added to the number to take in a slightly different route.
Today going to practise for our local folk club meeting up again.
Thinking of those with worries.
