Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey looking but dry here in Brackley this morning, yesterdays trip out to Bicester and Buckingham altered as I returned back direct from Bicester due to weather.
Today easy day in , prepare lunch ,and settle down and watch the Vuelta this afternoon on TV .
Mind you , yesterday rain showers felt like monsoon conditions as it was warm , due to Europe being in a extreme weather situation .
Take Care ,
Mick

I have missed whatever is going on with Phoenix so sorry❤️

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Aug-21 08:18:33

Good morning all. It looks like rain in Polmont this morning and it is much cooler. I've put the heating on for a quick blast.
We had a lovely family meal celebrating mum's birthday last night. The meal was delicious and the company more so. I've got a chicken roasting and I'll make stock with the carcass later. Pineapple upside down cake too. My thoughts are with Phoenix today. I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning from an overcast Black Country.

Popped on the bus to Merry Hill shopping centre yesterday (locals call it Merry Hell). As I had vouchers to spend that expire in September. It was not that busy really for a Saturday. I managed to buy what I needed with the vouchers, so a productive morning. It tipped it down most of the afternoon, but still able to sit outside reading under our gazebo, as it was still fairly warm.

Lovely photo's Ashcombe. I too could not manage without my hearing aids. Have been wearing them for about 18 years now.

DS and family arrived home safely from St Ives towing their caravan. Left at 7.30am arrived home in Staffordshire at 2.30! Two weeks have never flown by so quickly.

I hope you managed to source those trousers Marydoll Mum to the rescue!

Thinking of phoenix today

Good Morning from, a none too warm, North Britain.
I can well believe it took your family 12 hours to drive to Skye. Grandmajean It took me 6 and I am already in Scotland.
Whilst there I met a man from Essex at the campsite who said "Scotland is a big country isn't it, you get to Scotch Corner and you think you have arrived!"

A quiet day for me (I hope) after the crazy day yesterday with 8 of my family for lunch , 2 puppies and a very long walk.

Thanks for all your lovely news and photos. They are appreciated.

Good morning all from wet Harrogate
Lovely photos Ash. My photos will not post any way round!!
Am hoping to actually go to church this am - I don’t remember to watch the virtual services which rarely appear on Sunday!
I shall have a go at washing the pinafore I’m making, the fabric is harsh so think it will soften with washing - probably ruin it!! Tomorrow I have dgs, so may or may not manage to post
Have the best day you can folks

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A couple of whisps of white cloud in a blue sky here. Yesterday was very humid even though the temperature was only in the mid 20s.

A quiet Sunday here with roast beef for dinner. We might pop into the neighbouring park for the lunchtime concert on the bandstand. We listened to yesterday's brass band from our garden. It was later replaced by pop music. The park is very lively on Summer weekends.

Love to all x

Morning Mick, morning All. A grey sky over our corner of Somerset. The sun eventually appeared yesterday making garden pottering very pleasant.

Carrying on pottering today. I have a long and tedious form to complete, be good to have it done. I’m hoping Mr C will put away various items that should be in one of the sheds but somehow have found their way indoors. Notice I say hoping!

Thoughts go to everyone struggling especially phoenix on what should have been a happy day. Take care everyone, hope Sunday is gentle with us all.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey but at least it’s dry for now.
Not much planned today, but I’ll be getting my case packed as I’m off tomorrow to visit DD1 in Cambridge and helping out with looking after two lovely DGSs for a few days. I’m really looking forward to seeing them all but I know I’ll have a busy week ahead!

Hope you find the trousers marydoll, mum to the rescue again?

Sending love and support to phoenix today and thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Beechnut Sun 15-Aug-21 07:51:49

Good Morning all from Severnside. It’s wet and sunny.

It’s good Oldud can get some sleep Ash, so miserable when you are in pain and it stops you sleeping.

I’m tidying the garage today with the stuff I’ve taken out from under the stairs. I like to keep it tidy so I know where to find things. I shall cook my first lot of runner beans so I’m looking forward to eating them.

I’ve some garden sweeping to do too ginny. I’ve an orange flowering big shrub and while it is pretty it is also very messy dropping lots of blooms.

Take care all and enjoy your roasts and new cooking gadgets ?

Grandmajean Sun 15-Aug-21 07:50:10

SorryScentia leggings not jeans.

Lins1066 Sun 15-Aug-21 07:49:34

Good morning Mick and all, a dry morning after some gentle overnight rain. Yesterday turned out sunny and very warm after a cloudy start. We have had a quiet week and weekend, not doing very much. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding followed by apple crumble to look forward to later.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday, stay safe.

Greyduster Sun 15-Aug-21 07:48:45

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is doing battle with cloud in South Yorkshire and I have been sneezing since six fifteen, slowly working my way through another box of tissues! DH is still asleep. We walked five miles yesterday and it seemed to completely knock the stuffing out of him which is very unusual. We are having a pub Sunday lunch with DD and her menfolk today so no cooking! Hooray!
Enjoy your Sunday the best day you can folks.

Grandmajean Sun 15-Aug-21 07:48:44

Good morning allAshcombe the pics are beautiful. I am good at sideways photos too ! Never know what I've done wrong.
Have to commentScentia that is a great look ! I read and "offered advice" on your fashion post yesterday and you look much more confident in today's pic. Jeans and a denim jacket are great at any age. I bought a white denim jacket earlier in the summer and have worn it a lot. I just need to be careful not to pair it with white trousers and get the " Pretending to be Elvis" look
will be back to read later posts ?
Son and family safely in Skye ! Journey took TWELVE hours !

Marydoll Sun 15-Aug-21 07:45:04

Good morning all from a misty Glasgow, our heating has kicked in!

I have nothing planned, apart from looking for a pair of formal black trousers for a panicking DD, who has an interview on Tuesday. They are in the process of selling their flat and she accidently put the wrong clothes in storage. The story of DD's life, have a disaster, scarper and leave mum to sort it out!

My sad thoughts and prayers for Phoenix, who should have been enjoying her birthday party today, but it won't go ahead. sad

Have a good Sunday, everyone..

Susan56 Sun 15-Aug-21 07:38:19

Good morning from Shropshire.

An early start as DGD decided to have a sleepover last night so I have to take her to her swimming lesson this morning.DD will collect her from the pool and they are then off to a Christening.I will then come home and hopefully complete all the chores on my to do list.

Glad things are improving for olddudders and hoping Phoenix is feeling better today.

Have a good day all??

harrigran Sun 15-Aug-21 07:34:08

Good morning from a grey NE.
It is DD's 29th wedding anniversary today, can't believe how the time has flown.
Had a message from DS last night to say they had arrived in Wales after an arduous journey, I feel sorry for DIL as she would have to do all the driving.
Quiet day with the newspaper crossword beckons.
Those able to go out, enjoy.

ginny Sun 15-Aug-21 07:33:20

Good morning . N. Bucks is looking a bit dull but hopefully like yesterday it will brighten.
Have been out in the garden with our visiting canine and now he has tucked himself back into his bed. We will take him to the field later for a good run.
DD1, SIL and DGS1 will be over this afternoon for tea and chat. I’ve made a carrot cake and some Millionaires shortbread as a treat.
Must also get that sweeping up done in the garden.
Wishing all a Sunday smile.

MawBe Sun 15-Aug-21 07:22:26

Good morning from Norfolk! Where it is looking lovely again.
D and SIL were back by lunchtime yesterday - I hope they enjoyed their night away, I can’t believe it happens very often these days. GS and Basil the dog were happy they were home. Picnic lunch in the garden then a Swedish game called Mölkki which is a sort of skittles .
We used their latest ” toy” in the evening - a present from SIL’s boss, a pizza oven - and had amazing Brie and caramelised onion and artichoke and goats cheese pizzas.
So nice to have company - but be peaceful at the same time.
Wishing you all a pleasant day too and comfort to those with worries or sadness.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun has got his hat on ☀️
Last day of isolating today but as I am still testing negative I am off to watch DH run a race. Outside all day and away from people and tbh if it was tomorrow I wouldn’t have to do it anyway, being double vaccinated.

After my style lesson last night, I am dressed to impress (no one at all?) but I even have a necklace on!!
Have a great day folks, must get a shifty on he is at the bottom of the stairs!!

monk08 Sun 15-Aug-21 07:09:13

Lovely photos Ash the dahlias reminded me of my father he grew them, and won many awards for them. Unfortunately I never inherited his green fingers.

Ashcombe Sun 15-Aug-21 07:07:14

I didn’t lie down to take my photos so I’ve no idea why two have appeared sideways! This seems to happen frequently to photos that folk post so I hope Admin can sort out this glitch, please.

grandMattie Sun 15-Aug-21 07:05:33

Ash, I’m so glad that olddudders pain is now manageable. It makes one so grumpy…
What a difficult time for DD1, hope it resolves soon.

kittylester Sun 15-Aug-21 07:05:26

Morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

A restful day for me as dh is trying out his new gizmo- a barbecue rotisserie and a blue tooth probe. Hopefully, roast chicken and salt and vinegar potatoes with salad should appear at some stage.

Thinking of phoenix today.

Ashcombe Sun 15-Aug-21 06:54:05

Good morning all from a bright and breezy Torbay!

Having walked about two miles yesterday, I slept soundly and olddudders is managing his pain relief well enough to sleep for a few hours at a time, with sitting on the sofa being the preferred option. Yesterday, our Zoom call lasted over an hour without any severe spasms. My thanks again to you all for the support and concern you’ve shown which we’ve both appreciated. Dogsmakemesmile: you will find this group very welcoming so feel free to make supportive comments without fear of criticism and thank you!

My DD1 in Australia suffered similar back issues in the past and has likened the pain to the worst labour contractions so his shouts of agony are no surprise. Regarding her cataracts, she has been advised against surgery yet since she has already undergone operations for a detached retina and laser treatment. Apparently, our eyes can only tolerate so many procedures in a lifetime. I’ve strongly advised her against night driving.

At my hairdressers yesterday afternoon, I was delighted to hear a busker entertaining crowds sitting at tables at pavement cafés in the precinct. The glorious sunshine made it feel like being abroad and encouraged me to visit Tessier Gardens (see photos) I hope others enjoyed similar good weather for their various social gatherings about which I enjoy reading.

Oh, NannyJan53, I did smile at your booking error! DD1 recently thought she’d booked a favourite restaurant in Melbourne, only to discover on arrival she had inadvertently clicked on its other branch in Tasmania! ?Her DH and my DGS1 were very happy to visit McDonalds! I agree about men and hearing aids. I was told to allow six weeks for my brain to adjust but I wouldn’t be without them!

My thoughts are with those in pain or with worries and I wish you all a blessed “day of rest”!! ??☀️

monk08 Sun 15-Aug-21 06:28:03

Good morning all from overcast Black country.
Early start today DH has a fishing contest so I've got an empty.
Washing out on line, so will carry on reading my book In the Wars by Dr Waheed Arian. Have got the boys tomorrow so will make the most of my empty.
Gammon for dinner.
Enjoy your Sunday and may you all find some ?.
