Phoenix: An updated Thread.

Some of you may have missed the thread started by our cherished friend, Phoenix, informing Gransnetters of her illness and the reason for her recent absence from GN. It has been suggested that a new thread is started, directing her friends to the original thread, where she let us know of her terminal diagnosis.

Sadly, Phoenix is no longer able to read your messages or PMs, but has said how she, her family and close friends have found comfort in the love and support, you have shown her.

This thread will try and keep you all updated, with news provided by a Gransnetter, who is in daily in contact with the family.

A heartbreaking time for us all.

How sad sad

JulieNoted Tue 17-Aug-21 18:47:27

Oh I am so very sorry to hear that Marydoll and Charleygirl. Heartbreaking beyond words ?

Charleygirl5 Tue 17-Aug-21 18:43:13

JulieNoted unfortunately it is not a blip, sleeping most of the time with friends close by. She has gone downhill very rapidly but is being well cared for.

Marydoll Tue 17-Aug-21 18:42:53

Thank you Julie, we had already been discussing highlighting the thread, when Phoenix's condition deteriorated, your suggestion was the prompt we needed.

Unfortunately this is not a blip and Phoenix, when she started her thread, was at that point, already very unwell, but in her own unique way, played things down. ?

JulieNoted Tue 17-Aug-21 18:30:04

Thanks for starting this thread Marydoll. I didn’t feel it was my place to do it so I hoped you would take up the suggestion.
I can’t believe that in the short time since she posted, she appears to have gone downhill so fast. I hope so much that this is a blip and she has a little more quality time ahead. A world without Phoenix is going to be a very sad one.

It is strange how time seems to stand still at moments of heightened emotion- and it can be hard to believe the world is going on turning as normal .
I am sure we have all felt this, whether waiting for sad news of a parent or friend or indeed anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new grandchild. I know I am finding it hard to settle these days or to concentrate although an energetic bout of patio washing helped this afternoon along with planting up three pretty pinky purple verbenas I brought back from Norfolk yesterday. . Phoenix loves her garden and had made plans for autumn planting- I am sure she would approve.

I dont know Phoenix in real life but I feel I do because whenever I feel down I look up one of her funny posts and have a laugh. I have certainly missed her recently as we all have.

Wishing you a gentle goodnight Darling.

Thank you so much marydoll, for keeping us updated so sensitively. I only knew phoenix through her funny and often perceptive posts but I’ve found myself checking in more often these past few days to see how she is. Sad times indeed for all who know and love her. All I can wish for is that both she and they are surrounded by all the love and support that they need right now. ❤️

SueDonim Tue 17-Aug-21 15:12:11

Thank you for your message Marydoll and for keeping those of us who care about Phoenix updated. I rather think she would like the idea of having a PA.

Sending her light and love. Xxx
