Some of you may have missed the thread started by our cherished friend, Phoenix, informing Gransnetters of her illness and the reason for her recent absence from GN. It has been suggested that a new thread is started, directing her friends to the original thread, where she let us know of her terminal diagnosis.

Sadly, Phoenix is no longer able to read your messages or PMs, but has said how she, her family and close friends have found comfort in the love and support, you have shown her.

This thread will try and keep you all updated, with news provided by a Gransnetter, who is in daily in contact with the family.

A heartbreaking time for us all.

Having spent the morning without internet connection, I've only just caught up with the devastating news; even though we knew this was imminent it is still so upsetting.

Phoenix was absolutely one of a kind, her quirky sense of humour and sense of the absurd shone through in all her posts despite the adversities of life.

It was a privilege to be her friend.

RIP Phoenix

Hugs all round. RIP lovely Phoenix flowers

SueDonim Wed 18-Aug-21 13:42:56

I’m almost lost for words. ? How cruel that Phoenix has been taken from this world so quickly and at such a young age.

I’m not religious and I don’t know if Phoenix was, either, but given her name on here, it seems appropriate to use these words.

May Rachel rest in peace and rise in glory.

The one thing I will miss will be Phoenix sending Mr. P out to buy something as simple as a carton of double cream but returning with yogurt because it was cheaper.

Buying a new loo seat because she had been nagging for so long about the present one and he wrapped it in Christmas paper and handed it to her as a gift. I found that hilarious and if he lived here he would have been wearing it around his neck. He did not understand where he had gone wrong!

He is a good cook so when she was able to eat at least the food was decent and not beans on toast or from a local takeaway.

phoenix was a one/off and will be so missed especially by team phoenix. RIP.
