Acronyms

I know there is a forum to explain all those acronyms.
But I was trying to read a post from someone today and I was totally unable to understand who she was talking about.
DSD, DGD, DG etc.
I understand the D stands for Dear, but these people are obviously not that dear or the poster wouldn't have written the post in the first place.
What is wrong with actually saying who your problem is with

Nothing wrong with it, if you want to say ‘my husband’ or ‘my daughter’, then just say it.

You don’t have to use acronyms if you don’t want to.

Maybe the 'dear' is being expressed through gritted teeth? ?‍♀️ Just saying.

Just seems less hassle to type DGD than Dear (or Darling) Grand Daughter in full? Similarly DD2 rather than my ‘Second Born or younger (est) Daughter?
As *Calendargirl’ says - not compulsory, so just use whatever terms you find easiest.

I agree yggdrasil there was a recent post so full of abbreviations that I gave up. In normal conversation I never refer to my 'dear' daughter or 'darling' husband.

I know you can use acronyms or not , but the poster is saying that they don’t know what they mean .
Also they are confusing , SIL can be sister in law or son in law.
I agree about the daft D in front of everything !

I gave up on that one, too, Yggdrasil. I have since guessed that DSD might stand for stepdaughter,
but it is not one of the "official" GN acronyms.

Forgot to say that I am generally quite tolerant of them.

Sometimes LO appears. That I find a bit twee. But I’m generally take it or leave it about acronyms

Many years ago, when I first encountered ‘dh’ on a forum, I did wonder for a while whether it meant ‘dopey Herbert’ or some such. It didn’t take long to dawn though.
As for dd2 etc., it’s just quicker.

I m with you all the way yggd I hate them with a vengeance
It’s lazy and we moan and moan about the English language and how the young use text speak and how the language will disappear and then use these stupid darling and dears
But ….. I can’t change others I can only change me so
I don’t use them so if you feel as strongly as I do don’t use them
Darling/dear my arxx
