So, not only had Prince Andrew run home to mummy, The Queen has let it be known to the regiment that she wants the Duke of York to remain as colonel, and the feeling is that nobody wants to do anything that could cause upset to the colonel-in-chief.'
What about those who have been hurt by this so far by these allegations...... Diddums - poor Andrew, I wonder if The Queen spoon feeds him his breakfast and wipes his botty for him also!

Extinction Rebellion protesters let off flares as they stand in the fountain at the Queen Victoria Memorial, which they have covered in red paint, during a protest outside Buckingham Palace, London.

'Animal Rebels have dyed the fountains at #BuckinghamPalace blood red to symbolise the royal families crimes against animals and our planet.'
Hi
@RoyalFamily
you could show some leadership on #ClimateChange. E.g: ditch grouse shooting and support replacing it with #rewilding. Holding placards. Hunting A Royal Bloodbath

Meanwhile Andrew Windsor has been hiding for 20 days lawyers trying to serve a writ get turned away by security guards

For heaven’s sake, do you expect him to live in a semi on a rough estate?

Does anyone remember that wonderful book of Sue Townsend’s ‘The Queen and I’?

FannyCornforth Mon 30-Aug-21 11:00:42

Yes, I do MayBee
I adore Sue Townsend. In fact I might reread it. I read the first Mole diary every Christmas. It’s my ultimate comfort book

MayBee70 Mon 30-Aug-21 11:11:07

I bought it for my daughter and it wasn’t all that long ago that I read it. I think I’ll re read it, too. The Queen mum was hilarious.

US 'puts pressure on Britain to hand over Prince Andrew for questioning over Jeffrey Epstein sex abuse claims'
US reaffirmed the 'close relationship' with UK when it comes to 'legal assistance'
Prosecutors in US view Andrew as a 'person of interest' in Jeffrey Epstein inquiry
The US says investigators have so far been unable to speak to the Duke of York

BELIZE TO FOLLOW BARBADOS? Well I never.

The Prime Minister of Belize, another Commonwealth member, has hinted strongly at making the transition to a citizen as head of state:

In his closing remarks on the debate on the Governor-General (Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Bill, after briefly discussing the history of the position and its occupiers, he stated, “And who knows what is going to happen in the future, because I think it is high time for us to start to look at the type of government, the system we have.

“We need to find what fits Belize best,” he further stated.

The source notes that fellow Commonwealth members in the region Barbados and Jamaica are making moves towards becoming republics.

Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Dominica already have their own heads of state.

Anniebach Mon 30-Aug-21 12:38:15

A close relationship? Not for the parents of Harry Dunn.m

Grany Mon 30-Aug-21 12:44:13

Clearly the UK government needs to step in and ensure cooperative between Andrew, the palace and the FBI.

Aveline Mon 30-Aug-21 13:17:23

We get it Grany. You're not a fan of the Royal family. I doubt you're going to change the minds of most of us on here by going on and on about them. But hey ho if it makes you feel better then keep going.smile

If the U.K. had to vote for a president I very much fear we’d end up with someone like Nigel Farageshock?

Grany Mon 30-Aug-21 13:26:04

This is a royal thread Aveline RF in the news and Billboards

Prosecutors last year sent the British government a formal request, known as a mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) submission, asking for access to the prince so they could talk to him. Andrew still hasn’t cooperated.

Ah, the billboards. As Ogden Nash wrote:

I think that I shall never see
A billboard lovely as a tree.
Indeed unless the billboards fall
I'll never see a tree at all.

I'd hope that people who will have a choice will be more discerning. Take for instance The Irish president As well as having a successful political career Higgins has had a career as a poet and broadcaster and has produced works of non-fiction.

He has contributed widely to political and philosophical journals on numerous subjects, among them ideology, the sociology of literature, clientelism in politics, regionalism and the politics of the media

Higgins has campaigned for human rights and written of conflict in many parts of the world, including such areas as Nicaragua, Chile, Cambodia, El Salvador, Iraq and Somalia.

Equally presidents of other countries too have accomplished much and are well respected in their job as Heads of State of their countries. New Billboards up soon smile

Is this some kind of quid pro quo? One of your citizens killed one of ours so one our princes is allowed to sexually abuse one of your children. Allegedly.

If the U.K. couldn't vote for a king I very much fear we’d end up with someone like Prince Charles.

Anniebach Mon 30-Aug-21 14:10:06

Not allowed to sexually abuse Petera. , the special relationship grany spoke of should work two ways surely

MayBee70 Mon 30-Aug-21 14:20:27

Prince Charles, to be fair to him, was green years before it was fashionable to be so and was rather ridiculed for it.

Any self-respecting country, or person, does the right thing with no guarantee of reciprocity.

Prince Charles, to be fair to him, was green years before it was fashionable to be so and was rather ridiculed for it.

How about this

The reality is that Prince Charles has long liked to live high on the hog and this expensive carbon-heavy lifestyle undermines his advocacy for a low carbon green agenda to combat global warming

Public address loudspeaker NEWS: We are pleased to announce that Her Majesty The Queen will be attending #COP26.

@RoyalFamily | #TogetherForOurPlanet

fFS Really!! Why celebrate the attendance at a climate summit of an unelected head of state who lobbied to be exempted from climate regulations? Structural inequality that props up the status quo is part of the problem. Abolish the monarchy!
