So, not only had Prince Andrew run home to mummy, The Queen has let it be known to the regiment that she wants the Duke of York to remain as colonel, and the feeling is that nobody wants to do anything that could cause upset to the colonel-in-chief.' What about those who have been hurt by this so far by these allegations...... Diddums - poor Andrew, I wonder if The Queen spoon feeds him his breakfast and wipes his botty for him also!
Grany I would worry greatly at the ability of the great British Public to elect a President with all the qualities you see to think the person would have - the record of electing Prime ,ministers is not that great is it? I know they are not directly elected by the electorate but by the MPs and party members but the leader of the main parties has a big bearing on which party is more popular. Again it would become a follow the money contest. If you believe that a President would not have several residences you have your head in the sand - the Prime minister has more than one! Most presidents have several ‘homes’ at their disposal. The RF does pay tax and the income from a number of properties goes to the State. Besides which they do give people employment.
Welshwife A uniquely British president would have one official residence and an office there is no need for more as RF have.
RF have 19 homes that are publicly funded or heavily subsidised have round the clock security costing over £100 a year that is not accounted for in their annual financial report.
Queen pays tax voluntarily No hereditary tax No capital gains tax or corporation tax on Duchy
what did it look like? lots of very wealthy families pay for their own security, people moan enough on here about people on universal credit, 'these young people with loads of stuff' who can't afford a tin of ham why are the royal family getting so much money whilst people in social care are scrimped on expected to pay for their dinners out of 42p

Yes agree it's very unfair though some people don't want criticism of the RF
What?! You don’t have one Grany? You are most welcome to discuss the monarchy / republicanism on the Royal Chat thread. I tried to resurrect it the other day, starting with my own thoughts, but only Maddyone replied
Ps after that I shall become Lady of the Bedchamber
ie I shall go and change the bed linen and stick the dirty ones in the washing machine.
Resist all attempts to make you a Lady of the Stool Callistemon it's nothing to do with something you sit on. (I assume there was one there was a Gentleman )
