Good morning everyone from overcast West Kent. Strange day here as have dropped DH off at hospital, first time as an in patient for him in 53 years! Just discovered it is much easier to be the patient than the person sitting at home wondering what is going on. I have a feeling a lot of housework is going to get done.

Exercise this morning, I’ve been a bit lazy recently, then later we have DH’s birthday treat from a couple of weeks ago. it’s a boat ride up the Lancaster Canal with afternoon tea.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Uniformally grey in South Yorkshire. Food shopping this morning and baking later (GS is coming tomorrow). Then we are going scavenging for elderberries along the river. I was grumpy yesterday because our decorator says it will be another week and a half at least before he can get to our job because of delays on other jobs. It was supposed to be done by now and now it’s going to run into September. I wish we’d never started now.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a warmish but very sunny Oxfordshire. I spent most of yesterday in the garden moving soil, so I’m a tad sore this morning.
Annual health review this morning, I went last week and they said they had no recorded of my appointment, they blamed the computer!
Moved 3 large toads and 2 tiny frogs in the garden yesterday and as DH walked out of the front door last night his foot just missed one on the doorstep, I’ve never seen any toads in the garden until this year, I hope they stay safe.

Yesterday’s jaunt was very enjoyable, Coldingham Bay was busy with holidaymakers, mainly from across the border it seemed. We meandered back along the coast road stopping for ice cream in St Abbs and ending the day with fish and chips in North Berwick before heading inland for home.

Not much on the agenda chez baubles, a bit of deadheading and weeding probably.

Good morning from a cloudy Essex by the sea where the sun was shining earlier.

DH has an appointment with a Financial Advisor this morning and I have a trip to the Post Office to look forward to.

I had a message yesterday to say that my contact lenses were ready for collection. Off we trot to pick them up and they had ordered the wrong ones, that means another visit into town when they arrive.

Youngest daughter and family are in the Forest of Dean on holiday. Yesterday she and oldest granddaughter did a Go Ape, swinging through the trees. It took 3 hours and my daughter was exhausted at the end of it. Luckily they have a hot tub where they are staying and she had a soak !!!!!

A big hello to all the newbies on this thread. I hope your brother's operation goes well Susan and look after yourself Ash, not long now to wait.

Good morning to everyone.Hope that all your plans go well today. After a horrible day yesterday with migraine am just pleased to be in a less fragile state. I can see plenty of jobs that need doing but not making any plans. Will just see how I manage the basics and my intention of doing a bit of planting and sorting out pots will have to wait for yet another day as wont risk bending over things.

Good morning from a dry and bright Northampton, should stay dry so I have just put some washing in the machine.

Yesterday turned out hot and sunny so I finished trimming the edges of the grass, got the lawn mower out and cut the half of the back grass that grows at an enormous rate. Then got my kindle and sat in the sun and started September's book club read.

Must get a move on this morning as it is a health walk day and I need to be ready at 1pm, and I have a few jobs needing to be done. When I get back I shall attempt to change the printer ink. Also expecting a parcel from Sainsbury Tu clothing (spending again!).

Hope we all see some sunshine today.

We have some sun in SW Herts, how welcome is that. Hoping all goes well with the operations today Susan and LuluAugust. So glad you can get on that plane Ash!

We have had drama over the past couple of days, DGD was rushed into hospital with suspected appendicitis on Sunday. After hanging around the children's A and E for several hours waiting for a blood test, she was then told she needed a scan. DD eventually took her home around 10.00pm as there was still no sign of anything happening. Went back yesterday early morning to await the scan, nil by mouth bar water, and finally had the scan at 6.00 pm!! That was inconclusive too, so she has been sent home, still in pain, with the instructions to 'keep an eye on her'! I have never been impressed with our local hospital, I know they are busy, but DD said the staff were sitting around chatting and texting on their mobile phones most of the time, saying how quiet it was!

We are still hoping to fly to France on 3rd, a week after Ash, but DH is working himself into a stew over the tests needed to return, he is just completely panicked at the idea of sticking a swab up his nose! I have order some to try and get him used to it, will have to demonstrate in front of him and hope he will pluck up the courage, otherwise I will have to leave him in France with Ash - and GrandmaFrench, she has gone very quiet? Where is everyone, I used to love Sheepand Cattle's posts?

Currently DH has no driving licence, which is also stressing him out, applied in mid June, finally got a reply three weeks ago along the lines of 'Urgent, take an eye test withing a week', he took one the next day but still hears nothing, and DVLA phone lines are giving the message 'busy, try later' every single time you ring. As he is the main driver in France, I just hope the rental company will accept that it isn't his fault, and he is allowed to drive unless told otherwise!

Off to the cinema tonight to see ' 'The Father' with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, anyone seen it? Then we have the ?appendicitis patient and her brother coming for a sleepover on Wednesday night, which will mean a lot of shunting around in the spare bedroom.

Hope those with worries feel supported and everyone else, have a day full of sunshine!

It’s a beautiful morning in Suffolk and the weeds are waving merrily. I know what I shall be doing!
We took the granddog back to DD & DSIL yesterday, meeting them at the big yellow warehouse near Lakeside. We had just left home when the car developed a fault and we had to come back and swap it for the smaller car. As we could only just get the packages we had ordered into this car, we couldn’t get the driver’s seat back far enough for DH so I had to drive both ways. Hence overslept this morning. I was awake with awful sciatica in the night ( from sitting in the same position all day?) but luckily it has gone this morning.
The decorator is here and the cat needs to be retrieved for the dog free safety of the cattery so I must make a move.

Sorry about your granddaughterB9 Hope you get a diagnosis soon. My grandson had something similar and it turned out to be Mesoteric Adenitis which is a benign condition common in children. He still gets attacks occasionally and they obviously have to check for appendicitis every time. Don't think it's easy to diagnose.

It's a grey and dismal looking morning here in South Yorkshire, not at all like yesterday. I hope it doesn't rain though, as I've got another wash load washing.

Very frustrating for you Greyduster, but hopefully your decorator will be here when he says in a couple of weeks. Looking on the bright side, it will all be looking lovely in time for Christmas ?.

Plans for today include watering the plants and ironing yesterdays washing, other than that, will just wait and see what happens.

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It started off nice and sunny here in our bit of Berks, but has since clouded over. The bin men have been, later than usual, but at least they have been.

A friend is coming for coffee later on, and bringing magazines. I had hoped that we would be able to sit in the garden, but not sure now.
Yesterday I had a really lazy day, mostly knitting. I am hoping to finish this cardigan, before our anniversary, when I can take it to DD, but not sure now if I will be able to knit fast enough.
May pop into town later, as my prescription meds are ready. I do hope this time the AdCal is the lemon flavour, as last time it came as Tutti Frutti, ughhhh!. But I was good and still chewed them up.
I am waiting to hear how GGS is, as he was scalded at the weekend, on his shoulder and leg, and he is only 4.

Just a quick message to clarify my travel plans. DH isn't near an airport in France but I'm happy to drive over, having done it many times. I hope to drive to Portsmouth tomorrow where I've booked an overnight stay in a Travelodge (very close to the Brittany Ferries departure point) before boarding the early ferry to Ouistreham, arriving at his home around 5.00p.m. local time. Total mileage: 270, with 110 of that being in France, mostly on dual carriageway or motorway, once I've cleared the port.

Good morning, Mick and all from sunny warm Carlisle.
I've started re-arranging my cardboard 'chests of drawers' upstairs so the furniture deliverers can get the real furniture in. They've emailed me with the 3 hour delivery slot. Whereas I was hoping for one starting mid-morning onwards, I have one starting at 8am which is not good as I will need to do a bit of last minute organising...I usually get up around 7am and must eat before doing anything so I'll have to set the alarm clock. I'm not waking early on these darker mornings.
I still hope to potter in the garden or go for a stroll later though, can't waste this lovely day.
Susan, hope your brothers' op goes well, it must be a nasty shock for him having a quadruple bypass after he'd been living a healthy lifestyle.

Good morning all. A misty start in Glasgow too, just waiting for the sun to break through which would be ideal to let me get on with tidying up in the garden, at my own pace, with well earned coffee breaks when I temporarily run out of puff.

We had a cat flap fitted fatgran, best decision ever. It was exhausting going up and down like a yo-yo whenever our contrary cat couldn’t decide whether to go out or come in.

Reports from friends having holiday breaks, it appears all of Scotland is very busy with visitors and tourists and finding a parking space is almost impossible. Definitely a sign more Brits are holidaying at home rather than go abroad.

Good Morning from grey (but dry) Harrogate. Today I have got my curtains in the wash - daring? When I took them down I found signs of damp, so have painted it over with primer, then hopefully before curtains go back up, will have the proper colour on. Mind you, DH announced I have to escort him to the hospital at 4 pm for an appointment!!

*B9 so sorry about your GD, it must be such a worry for the little girl. My DD2 announced she has tested positive for COVID, which means I shall not see my DGS for a while. I feel helpless because I cant help her with the little boy. I did a test yesterday and was negative

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise Lancashire coast, I’m on duty feeding next door’s cats, twins, one cheeky, one shy. I have to watch the cheeky one doesn’t eat both. Cheeky one now snoring on my sofa as she thinks she owns the road.
My brother in law’s partner now out of hospital but not well at all, on oxygen and carers coming in. She said she was in a bed on the geriatric ward next to a transwoman who kept her large earrings in and turned the air blue, cursing and swearing. She also kept opening the curtain between them and not nice when using the commode. She (trans) was moved to a side room eventually. Made me think…

Not much planned for today other than more laundry and possibly a short walk around the marina. Mr. B has done the supermarket shop.

Good morning all from a very cloudy Portugal. The forecast is for thundery showers which I wish I’d remembered before I hung my towel out to air and put a load of laundry on.

We had a thoroughly frustrating day yesterday. We decided to take ourselves to a nice cool retail park which advertises as having everything you you could possibly need. I need new bras and sandals even though I know it’s late in the season for sandals. I had the usual unsuccessful attempt at trying to buy both.
So we went to look at perching stools for the kitchen. We went to that particular retail park because I’d seen the stools there before. So we walked round the very large maze like HOT store only to find tha they’d put most of the stools on a shelf near the ceiling. You could look but not try. I was feeling ill with the heat by this time so we went for coffee and snack at what was a very good coffee shop. The waitress misheard our order and only delivered the water and not the coffee we’d asked for but after drinking it we decided to head for home and try another day. Someone had reversed into the back of our car.
This is where the day improved a bit as although he’d left his car locked on to ours he could have driven off doing further damage. A security chap put cones round it and we went back for a lunch time snack of a pizza square for DH and a restorative”Jesuitina”, an almond filled pastry for me. As we left the shop they were delivering the fresh pastries so we would have done better waiting. However, the man who backed into the car seems honest and pleasant, has already phoned both us and his insurance company and no one was injured.
We,live to fight another day and I’ll try not to grumble so much next time I post.
