Good Morning Tuesday 24th August 2021
(52 Posts)Good morning Mick and everyone to follow - I appear to be first cab off the rank again today.
Fine day here in Tassie, not much happening at home, went for short walk, minded grand daughter for an hour, made a batch of vegetable fritters and fed the cat many times, let the cat in/out many many times cursed the cat fairly often. Said cat is now sound asleep on his couch.
Hope everyone has a pleasant a day as possible.
Good morning from a grey E Kent. The weather has settled into a sort of cloudy state this summer. We don seem to have had either a lot of sun ☀️ or rain ? .
I’ve got to get ready early as I have an appointment with the chiropodist at 0800. DH gets up at 0720 every morning… so I need to be breakfasted and sorted before I can have a shower.
Tai chi this morning and fiddling about in the afternoon.
I hope today brings some ☀️ to your souls and small joys. ????☀️??
Good morning from a fine looking West Berkshire.
Off to Rhyl today with my husband to view and hopefully buy a lorry ?.
Wishing you all peaceful and trouble free days .
Good morning Mick and all to follow from Shropshire.
I have a friend coming over for coffee this morning then the afternoon will be house and garden jobs.
My brother has been transferred to another hospital and will have a quadruple bypass this afternoon. The drs have said his healthy lifestyle is what saved him.
Glad that you have been given the green light to travel to France Ash.
Have a good day all??
Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it’s cloudy and fresh.
Welcome to the new good morningers.
I’ve had my grand dog for the night and he’s been out for a wander in the garden and is now standing on the window seat looking out of the window.
I’ll have a walk today instead of a swim and then do some home working.
You made me smile with going to buy a lorry NotAGran. Never heard anyone say that before.
Have a good day all and take care ?
Good morning everyone from Torbay, where it should brighten up after early cloud.
Yesterday, as always, I appreciated the supportive comments from so many of you and I’m relieved to have a diagnosis and some treatment. For any who missed my late bulletin on the GM Monday thread: it's labyrinthitis and my doctor says it’s fine to travel.
olddudders is still in pain, with an inability to sleep for long enough being a problem. He is still sleeping in a propped up position, but managing in bed rather than on the sofa.
Beechnut I enjoy The Coroner, too; it was filmed mainly in Dartmouth, not too far from here, along with other locations in South Devon. LauraNorder may be interested to know that, too. (Sorry, I’m reacting to posts from yesterday.)
My DH has requested some items that France provides but not to his liking (tea bags, baked beans, marmalade, etc) so I need to raid Lidl today. Luckily, those items shouldn’t raise eyebrows at the border in these post Brexit times.
It will be good to see my DS and family who will call in later today as they’re staying locally with his father. I've decided not to accompany them on any jaunts this time as I’m pacing myself.
Thinking of Susan56's brother and others who are in pain or recovering. ???
Good morning all from N Bucks.
Feeling a little groggy because a certain large dog started barking - loudly- around 4 o clock and by the time I had let her out, checked with the security lights on that nothing was amiss (and the cat was probably in the next county) I was wide awake. Got back to sleep I think around 5 ish, but feeling “ruff”
So I will wish you a pleasant day - and try to grab another hour’s sleep. ?
Good morning all from Solihull. Its bright and clear here but a bit cool. I'm hopeful it will be sunny and warmer later, as it was yesterday. The family will be coming home next week, a week earlier than planned due to most facilities at the holiday complex being closed. I will walk into the village later and maybe a walk along the canal. Hopefully a nice gentle calm day.
Morning Mick and all
The sun is shining here in S E Essex!
We have The Imp and 6 yr old today, not sure what we will do yet.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning everyone.
I'm in Isle of Thanet, Kent and I'm still laying in my bed enjoying a faint but cool breeze on my back!
Yesterday brought great news as the old warehouse opposite our house, an ugly eyesore, was purchased a few weeks ago and they've now started working on it.
It's to be cleaned out - oh boy, does it need that - and they went in wearing hazmat suits yesterday!
The roof had collapsed at some point prior to us moving here and pigeons had taken a fondness to it. EURGH!! Unfortunately, as I've found out, I have a sensitive nose when it comes to overbearing or awful smells, and pigeon mess is one of those smells, so I'm dead happy to hear that, in keeping with our lovely little neighbourhood, the new owners are building 2 houses instead of more flats (there's no parking here as it's literally a road thru to a gated place). One for himself & I assume a wife/gf, and one for his daughter!
Goodbye smelly pigeons ??
It's not very bright out, and the breeze is hopefully staying the day.
Have a lovely day, everyone, and stay safe. xx
Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Susan56 my DH had 4x bypass nearly 3yrs ago was back home within 4days of the op. They also fitted an ICD 6mths later and now I can't keep up with him.
Looking at a fishing venue today near Burton then will go to marina at Barton under Needwood. Will walk round lakes and have cake & coffee. Will stop off at carvery for tea my kind of day.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.
Welcome to this lovely thread Ali08
Good morning from me.
Susan I wish your brother a speedy recovery from today's operation. A worrying time for you.
DH playing golf all day. The best bit , though ,is that there is a meal at the end of it ! Great , no cooking. Except that DS' family are visiting other grandparents and I opened my mouth and invited him to eat with me. Will have to produce something heartier than an egg now !
My thoughts and good wishes to all of the Gransnetters with worries.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. Hoping for some sunshine later.
I have had family visiting for the last week so I have lots of washing and ironing to do today, grass to cut and general tidying up before I head off to Derbyshire tomorrow for DD2’s birthday on Thursday.
We had a lovely walk yesterday in the dales, from Aysgarth Falls (pretty full after the weekend rain), to Redmire and Bolton Castle. I was so tired last night I was asleep by 10, hence my early start today!
Hope everyone has a good day.
Morning all, I don’t often show up at this time of day however I’m thrilled to report that oh has gone back to work for a month or so. This means my morning heaven of tea in bed from when he leaves and a lovely long morning of peace with him out of the house ? The sun is shining dogs are fed. Not certain how to manage the walking with them so much any more but that’s another thread..... my poor old girl ? I had to carry her a bit yesterday.
Good morning from sunny Colchester.
Family outing to the seaside on the train planned for today. 3 adults and 3 DGS. Looks like the weather will be kind to us.
Love to all x
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s promised to be a warm sunny day.
Nothing much planned today, yesterday we were at the kitchen showroom and sorted out the new units and worktop etc for the utility room, everything seemed ok but there’s no fitting appointments until next February - good job we’re not in a rush!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning. Cloudy start again but hopefully like yesterday it will improve. I enjoyed a couple of hours in the garden yesterday.
Most of the family are away on holidays and they have been sending some lovely pictures , especially of DGSs 2 & 3. I’m missing them.
Lord Jasper is booked for a session at the exercise field and I have a couple of cake orders to fill , so better get going.
Healing thoughts to all who need them and hope you all find a smile along your way.
An early good morning from East Renfrewshire where it’s misty and I’ve been awake for hours due to a late meal and resulting indigestion!
Stayed over with my daughter and family for the first time since March 2020. I used to stay every weekend, Sunday till Tuesday, to look after my youngest grandchildren. They are both at school now and we are working out a new routine.
Last night involved a celebratory meal after the children went to bed and will be the last time I do that! 18 months have made quite a difference to my habits but it is nice to be involved again. Just need a different plan.
Home after breakfast (and a bit of ironing?). I think the sun is to shine again so that will be lovely.
Special thoughts to Susans brother today and continued recovery to Ashcombe for your long awaited journey.
Wishing everyone a good day ??
Good morning all and it’s sunny here in Essex.
We packed up the seaside cottage and had a good journey home. Came into the house and couldn’t get into the conservatory. The lock was jammed and the key wasn’t in the usual keyhole.! ??. Phone calls to DS1 and DD who have been round tending the garden and brought in shopping. ??. They both deny knowing anything about the lock. ?. DIL’s father (locksmith) came with his tools and after 2 hours of taking the door apart, he said the cylinder had jammed. He has to come back with new cylinder. Poor man! He won’t take any money so a large bottle of best brandy for him.
Someone will have a guilty conscience! I’d just like to know what happened. Happy homecoming! ??.
Today will be catching up with friends and clipping back shrubs etc.
Must get an appointment for little pooch at the groomers. She’s looking like a rugrat! ?
Best wishes for Susans brother ?
Hope Ash is quickly recovering ?
Welcome to fatgran so far away. ?
Welcome to Ali and goodbye to those smelly pigeons ??
Look after yourselves ?
Morning Mick and All.
Lovely sunny day here in South Bucks.
Glad you are feeling better Ashcombe. Going through customs reminds me that our DS was flying abroad to perform a show and when his luggage was searched they confiscated his jar of pickle (which he likes in a cheese sarnie) as they said it could be Semtex, but allowed his full size samurai sword ?
Good news of my dear friend in her late 90s. After her op on a broken hip and wrist, she is now up and moving around very cautiously. In addition she is ready for her many friends to visit, so I am off to buy some nice chocolate and a glossy magazine for her. What a gal !
Good morning from the Scottish Borders. The haar today but it looks like it's lifting now.
I'll go into Edinburgh to meet a friend for an exhibition and lunch.
The festival is on but it's a thinned down version and good things are fully booked in advance.
Your talk of an eyesore Ali08 reminds me of the one in our town.
It's now been semi-demolished but nothing has been done since. I can't understand why the council don't compulsory purchase it. It was once the pride of the town, a wonderful country store which sold everything from cheese by the slice to hen feed.
All the best to your DB for this afternoon Susan56.
I hope you are well enough to travel Ash and get your happy reunion.
Good morning from the NE where we have a cloudless sky.
Yesterday was a great improvement in the weather and I was able to get into the garden and do some dead heading.
Today is DS and DIL's wedding anniversary, still on holiday but I hope they have a nice meal out.
Car is in for service today, it is getting on in years but has been totally reliable so we have no plans to replace it.
Another day of waiting for deliveries, they lost the last ones.
Pleased you are able to travel Ashcombe.
Good morning everyone from what appears to be a sunny sunny day here on the east coast of Fife. I’m back home again to my luxurious super king size bed after a not so nice experience at a hotel in Aberdeenshire. However things turned out extremely well after all when our DD homed us for a few nights after we left the hotel early. The hotel owned up to its errors and gave us back a full refund.
We’ve arranged to visit our DD again in a few weeks time it was really good fun being with the two huge gentle retrievers and a very aged cat who’s meawing brought the family running to feed her , the not too gentle robust Gds were so loving especially after grandad took them shopping. The weather was really nice too and my DD took me to a lovely wee village cafe for mid morning coffee and cake I’ve a love affair going at the moment with cake so don’t be telling
Have a good Tuesday everyone be good to yourself and stay safe.
